Cons: Gets hot

Pros: Covers more of my house
Comment:
The WRT310N works very well out of the box. The router does get hot if you leave it flat on the ground though.I suggest lifting the back slightly to allow better ventilation of the heat. The stock firmware is what you would expect. You have to be careful if installing custom firmware as the router only has a 4mb flash.I got DD WRT running on it and everything has been perfect since.

Cons: Linksys firmware seems terrible. Dropped wireless connections. Lost internet connections through wired network, requiring router reboot.

Pros: Decent price on black friday sale. Gigabit ethernet.
Comment:
If you get this, plan to flash the firmware with one of the open source alternatives. For me, the default (upgraded to latest version) Linksys firmware was unreliable and unusable. After flashing to DD-WRT (dd-wrt.v24-14929_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini_wrt310nv2) things seem stable and work pretty well. For the right price, this hardware isn't bad, as long as you can replace the default firmware.

Cons: only 4mb flash, wifi range/strength isn't the greatest, antennas are internal

Pros: cheap, gigabit, wireless N 300, supports dd-wrt and tomato, looks nice, stays cool (v2)

Picked up 2 of these on sale since my previous router had just fried. Lucky timing on the sale. Was going to buy an asus N16 or TP link 1043, but couldn't resist this at $25. loaded on toastmans latest build and its working great.

Cons: could be faster...should have paid more for another on by Cisco that is a true gigabyte router...but oh, well.

Pros: fast connection to the Internet...all the reviews I've read on-line are calling this an above average router. I would tend to agree so far.
Comment:
I would do further investigation next time and get top of the line. Mabee next year. I'll turn this one over in the weeks and months to come. Overall I'm satisfied for now.B-

Cons: None so far.

Pros: Great range and speed, highly stable operation.
Comment:
I bought this router to replace an old WRT54g. At first I was a bit worried since I read about all the overheating issues associated with this model, so I modified it to run with a fan when I got it. It seems to be running nice and cool with the fan, not to mention less prone to crashing than my old WRT54g. The coverage is better and the speeds are higher too (thanks to wireless n), so overall I'm throughly impressed. I'd count the fact that I had to mod it as a con, but frankly I never tried it without the fan, so it may work just fine without it too (it doesn't seem to get that hot).

I bought this router over a year ago. It started randomly locking up after 1-7 days, requiring a power cycle to reboot it to work again. Even the network hub was failing at that point, causing my LAN to be down. I RMA'ed the router, and the replacement is doing the same thing. I will not buy this brand again. Quality sucks, reliability sucks, support sucks.

Unit is working great. The automated setup program didn't work with my ATT DSL modem but Linksys online support directed me to the solution very effectively.

The first one I bought I had to return since it didn't work and it still had a password that I had to reset. the second one works great with no problems. I don't have a N wireless card but a G and speeds are still the same with I wasn't thinking it would give me more, I only wanted better cover thru the house.

Cons: I've had 2-3 crashes since I started using the router,

Pros: It was fairly easy to install. I've been with Linksys for years now so the setup was a breeze for me almost like plug and play.
Comment:
I haven't had a chance to install Tomato or anything like that yet but I'm eager to. I don't have any Wireless N cards at home but I did notice a speed increase and a more overall stable network.

Product Features

Linksys WRT310N Wireless N Gigabit Router
The Wireless-N Gigabit Router is really three devices in one box. First, there's the Wireless Access Point, which lets you connect to the network without wires. There's also a built-in 4-port full-duplex 10/100/1000 Switch to connect your wired-Ethernet devices together. Finally, the Router function ties it all together and lets your whole network share a high-speed cable or DSL Internet connection.

The Access Point built into the Router uses the very latest wireless networking technology, Wireless-N (draft 802.11n). By overlaying the signals of multiple radios, Wireless-N's "Multiple In, Multiple Out" (MIMO) technology multiplies the effective data rate. Unlike ordinary wireless networking technologies that are confused by signal reflections, MIMO actually uses these reflections to increase the range and reduce "dead spots" in the wireless coverage area. The robust signal travels farther, maintaining wireless connections much farther than standard Wireless-G.

With Wireless-N, the farther away you are, the more speed advantage you get. It works great with standard Wireless-G and -B equipment, but when both ends of the wireless link are Wireless-N, the router can increase the throughput even more by using twice as much radio band, yielding speeds far faster than standard Wireless-G. But unlike other speed-enhanced technologies, Wireless-N can dynamically enable this double-speed mode for Wireless-N devices, while still connecting to other wireless devices at their respective fastest speeds. In congested areas, the "good neighbor" mode ensures that the Router checks for other wireless devices in the area before gobbling up the radio band.

To help protect your data and privacy, the Router can encode all wireless transmissions with industrial-strength 256-bit encryption. It can serve as your network's DHCP Server, has a powerful SPI firewall to protect your PCs against intruders and most known Internet attacks, and supports VPN pass-through. Configuration is a snap with the web browser-based configuration utility.

The incredible speed of Wireless-N makes it ideal for media-centric applications like streaming video, gaming, and Voice over IP telephony, and gives you plenty of headroom to run multiple media-intense data streams through the network at the same time, with no degradation in performance. With the Linksys Wireless-N Gigabit Router at the center of your home or office network, you can share a high-speed Internet connection, files, printers, and multi-player games, and run media-intensive applications at faster than 10/100 wired network speeds, without the hassle of stringing wires!
