I agree, the documentation on how to set up an online internet cam could definitely be much better. I identified a fast google search got me the facts i required and I am now up and operating. Low excellent signal at almost any range from base station. WiFi and RJ45 (ethernet) use exact same MAC? NO Help for SSL encryption over any port. So, if you intend to use this with Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail or most any other provider it will not connect and send an e mail due to the fact it does not support SSL on the Pop or SMTP side!!! NO TIME RESTRICTIONS (like cut off feed between 5pm-12am for xx login or international restrict) even even though cheaper top quality and priced cameras have this feature built in!! Restricted viewing angle. If you sit this factor high up on a wall, you have a big blind spot below the camera and to it's left and ideal. Servos are slightly loud... Not meant for a "hidden" install. Wonderful camera at an wonderful cost. Like the capacity to log in from my perform and check up on my dogs/house though away. Video quaility is exceptional. Ability to handle the camera is great! The software program that comes packaged with the camera is each effective and easy. So far I have not noticed any glitches or bugs. The camera was straightforward to setup. I had the camera up and operating on my LAN employing the built in wireless G feature within ten minutes. I've got my wireless router upstairs and the camera placed in my kitchen. No complications what-so-ever with weak or dropped signals (although there are no concrete walls for the signal to pass by way of either). Two-way audio feature is good! When the camera tilts/pivots, the sound of the camera moving can be heard. This doesn't each me as I'm not trying to conceal the camera's presence. The digital zoom feature is pretty useless as properly (as I somewhat expected). I've spent a lot of income on a wireless security/webcam system several years ago and was significantly disappointed at how the software didn't function as advertised. As expected, the Cisco software packaged with this camera functions flawelessly. I at present have my office computer running the cisco camera manager computer software in the background, capturing audio/video from the camera 24ǝ. Add in motion detection, FTP, e mail alerts and there genuinely is a lot in this tiny package.At its normal price tag, it's a wonderful value ... when it's on sale, we've got a no-brainer. Wonderful optics. Terrific control and alternatives for photos and various sorts of video. I love having e-mail, ftp, & smb motion detection. The smb/cifs recording to NAS is great and uncomplicated. I would have given this camera five eggs if the new firmware worked and if the motion detection systems had timer capabilities.One factor to remember, this camera is not meant to rotate continuously. Other models do that. The email motion detection, ftp motion detection, and smb motion detection do not have time specifications as to when the motion detection should be active. The lower priced cams from cisco/linksys have this capacity. The dilemma comes in when you don't want to get e-mail messages with video clips of men and women moving in the middle of the day. You would only want emails from events happening from say 10pm to 7am. Luckily I was in a position to system my router to block emails from that specific camera throughout the day and let them pass late at night. Router is a Fortigate 50B. Warning. Cisco knows that the most current camera firmware does not perform appropriately (version 1.1.1.15). The previous version does work. If the new firmware is loaded and you want motion detection, downgrade. Following downgrading, do a deep reboot. Put a paperclip in the reset slot for 30-40 seconds. Cisco points out this is essential and it is. I did not use the Cisco software program that comes with it for monitoring, so I don't know how well it works. I use pysoft. |

Cost is good. Setup is incredibly simple. CD walks you through standard setup quite nicely. Picture top quality is out standing. 2X digital zoom is pretty fantastic. Audio is really great. Wireless signal is pretty good. Lense and motors are housed in a doom to defend them from the components. I don't know it's weather proof though. Range of motion is incredibly limited. It is ok if mounted on a wall, but if you are hunting for almost 360 degrees of motion, this is not it. Motor movement is loud. Unable to see in low light. Motion is restricted to the system arrows and is really slow. Some cameras enable you to click on the picture to move the camera. General this is a nice ptz camera. Excellent picture excellent.I personal a number of Trendnet tv-ip422w ptz cameras and with the general alternatives, I would decide on the Trendnet. The Trendnet is tougher to setup and configure. Picture top quality is not as very good, but 340 degree range of motion can't be beat along with the motion choices.If you are mounting this on a wall with restricted motion necessary, then this is the camera to buy. |

Just opened this up. Had it running in about three minutes, 10 for wireless. (I had in no way utilized the wireless feature on my Trendnet router and had to configure it) Video is Outstanding, even in low light! Cameras are rather configurable. The computer software package for managing the caeras is really nice, and the camera's them selves have been outstanding....but... The software has NO Potential TO RUN AS A SERVICE. That signifies in order to be recording you have to be perpetually logged in. Wonderful looking, removable antenna connector for boosting range. Does what it is suppose to. Lost 1 egg unfairly simply because it won't do what I wanted. To my shock only 1 brand does. Did not do what it was not suppose to (thoughts). On the plus side it pans like the old brand and has a lens dome cover this brand so possibly insects in the attic won't be so tough on one with a covered lens. A bit expensive for just a public video cam and public level access requires at least a username to view. Motion detection is a bit unreliable but possibly I have not learned all the fine settings. (works often, that's a begin & in all probability a skill to find out to calibrate.) Basically troubles improved firmware functions could fix? I required a wireless network camera to upload timer style webcam images for a Festival viewer based page. Images on this device are limited to time stamped (not same overwritten) filenames on motion based images. That it does and looks wonderful performing. Unfortunately right after five years of setting in a sunny window 24ǝ뤅 the old other brand is getting blurry and worse I have to go buy the exact exact same (great but boringly the very same) thing again to get what I want. Video & built-in mic are a major upgrade to prior system. Haven't had to reset it like old camera (also has capability to auto-reset). Playback on motion makes it possible for selection a range for the day and speedily scrubbing via the day. Manual is poor, to setup calls for background or lots of research to get the most out of it. Zoom is fairly considerably worthless but the pan / tilt choice is extremely nice for the cost. Low light not too superior but I preserve lights on 24ǝ so didn't matter for my use. IP Based - PTZ!! - Fantastic Cost - Wonderful possibilities!! You can have this up and running without having ever having to install the software. It has a built in http function permitting you to control the settings. The settings are saved on the camera. Tested with a energy outage and it retains all the settings even immediately after 15 minutes. the internet interface permits you to save preferred locations to automatically move to them when required. The microphone on the unit is really very good and can be heard with the internet interface. This has to be turned on, it is off by default. The camera itself has a lot of selections for video high quality. I have it on the highest setting with sound on a wireless G network. Even when employing the laptop on wireless that is minimal frame loss or stuttering. In low light it functions nicely adequate to see. Does not have the capability for total darkness. Not positive if it will function with an IR lamp. I do not have 1 to test with. 1 other factor is I adore the LCD display for status. The zoom feature is digital and it is only 2x. I would expect a PTZ to be able to adjust greater than this. But for the price, I am ok with this. The software that comes on the disk is a little lacking in function and control, but it does work. I do not believe I will be working with it all that a lot in my case. If you are going to use this on a secured wireless network, be sure to note that the SSID and security code/pass is case sensitive. Following I had it setup, this camera works like a champ over the network. I could not be happier with the performance. |
