Good PSU. All the same things as the rest of the reviews here. I don't have the same high-pitch whine as the other reviewer so I'm assuming it's something with the setup or a defect in the particular unit.

I bought this PSU to replace a Silverstone Zeus 650W.When I supplied it with power after installation but before I put the side panel back on my BitFenix Merc Beta Steel Mid-Tower case, I could hear a bit of coil-whine.Once the panel went on and I turned the PC on, I couldn't hear the whine anymore.Modularity allows for 2 things:To only have the necessary cables in your case, so little need for "cablegamy" which subsequently allows for better ventilation because you won't have unnecessary cables obstructing the airflow. This PSU being fanless means it will not be sucking in air and eventually getting dusty so you won't need to dust it out with compressed air. Even if you do, the hex/honeycomb design makes that very quick and easy.Years ago, I remember having to completely remove the PSU from the case so I could unscrew and remove the top of the enclosure to dust it out and lubricate the fan. Those days are over with this being fanless and modular.Keep in mind that you need to either have a well ventilated case or minimal/bare-bones setup to use this PSU.

Cons: -ribbon cables-extremely annoying high pitched whine (less loud with PC off but still easily noticeable)

Pros: -7 yr warranty-modular-platinum efficiency rated-fanless-erp 2013 compliant
Comment:
I had a seasonic M12II500W in my PC, and I upgraded to this PSU, since it is fanless, ErP compliant and platinum rated. However upon installation it emitted a high pitch annoying whine all the time, less so with the PC off. I can easily hear it 4ft away from my sound dampened PC case.I tried to troubleshoot the issue, silentPCreview tested a 520W model and from seasonic they suggested turning on ERP in the BIOS, I did that with no luck.I am hoping NCIX will exchange it for another unit and hopefully it will not produce the same level of noise.SPCR went though 3 samples before they got a decent one, however that was probably cherry picked by seasonic themselves.I have used Sesonic PSU's for almost 10 yrs now and they do make quality products, however I think more testing for whine/niose should be done, and maybe coils and other parts should be sourced with more care. This PSU may also not exhibit this noise with different systems, mine as follows-amd 955BE stock speed & voltage-gigabyte 990xa rev1.x mobo with bios F8-2x4GB DDR3 1600 stock speeds & voltage-powercolor radeon HD6850 -dvd burner-plextor 256GB M3S-Seasonic 460W platinum FanlessIf the next one works without the noise I will re-rate/post accordingly.
