Quite simple to setup RAID.Got antsy, so split the RAID into three seperate drives for a multiboot method operating win7, Kubuntu 10.ten, Xubuntu 10.four, and will be adding Crunchbang. All the installs have went flawlessly; every little thing recognized with no troubles.Amazing board for the price. This ranks right up there with my Asus P6T Deluxe OC, but for considerably less. All round, the Asrock-based method offers me 90% of the capability of the Asus-based system, but for ឬ% of the cost. Can't beat that...

The board is low cost and versatile The MB does not final lengthy I bought this board due to the fact it was 1 of the "Best Purchase" boards with very good rating. I built my computer and it ran like a dream. It was operating great untill about a month ago when I started having power concerns with the board. I debugged it various times to get it back to normal. 2 day ago, the board went on a rampage and started pulling energy from my PS like crazy. I shut it down, rebooted into safe and started hunting at the numbers. All the voltages jumped off the charts, so soon after resetting them, I stated it back up and it ran great for about 10 mins. Than it crashed. I pulled power and allowed it to cool down and reset, turned it back on in safe, checked the numbers once again, and yes, the voltages had been through the roof.. once again. Reset, once more, turn on, lasted five mins than fried. Not content. The board worked excellent untill it began going ape mad, but in my opion, any board that can only run for 6 months at stock setting is a waste of money. This board was developed to be O.C. and it couldn't.

Nice layout and attributes for the dollars. Worked OK for a month then created issues. USB ports kept dropping out. Windows froze throughout startup or took a loooong time to completely boot up. Couldn't wake pc up from sleep mode....had to restart. Couldn't even get my program to recognize my 5.1 surround sound program (Creative Labs Xi-Fi card)...only two.1 would seem as an choice. Replaced board with a different brand and all these troubles went away. I was hoping for additional immediately after reading the evaluations but ended up being disappointed in this board.

Ahead of this i had purchased an ASUS P6T and died on me after 4 months. Following all that hassle i stated, **** that i ll obtain the cheapest i can uncover. So far no regrets :) I need to say tho, that i purchased an Open Box product, there wasn't missing anything, but the manual was torn apart, no massive deal, i download a pdf from the internet. Other issue that i notice was that the back, exactly where the PS2, and USB are, had been slightly tilted upwards, practically out of the Mobo (perphaps not appropriately welded?), i pushed it downwards to its place, it worked like a charm :) :DIf you are hunting this review, Buy it. I recommend, you appear for discounts on ASROCK items as they often got good bargains right here in Newegg

Right after a lot of analysis I crossed my fingers and overlooked some of the "nightmare" testimonials that were left about this board. Now I'm starting to wonder if some of these unfortunate souls have been misplacing their dissapointment on this board when an additional component was causing their challenges.I purchased this board mostly due to the fact I wanted two soundcards (gaming, music recording) and with my crossfire setup .. I was capable to have a x1 and common PCI offered. So far. It's operating cool, fired suitable up, looks fine, doesn't have the MSI Northbridge heat issues, has a nice bios, lots of area for expansion, and most importantly .... Works! The "OC Tuner" computer software that manages temp readings, overclocking, and fan control doesn't in fact contol "Chassis Fan 2" (changing levels does absolutely nothing) and doesn't even give me the solution to control the "Power fan" ... which appears like a missed chance. ... I orded some manual tuners that stick inside the case. I wish there have been far more than 4 fan connectors. and I want they have been all controlled by the application. The USB's on the front of my case act truly sketchy with external difficult drives. Not positive if this is a case challenge or the motherboard.

I received the replacement board, tore down my machine once more, and installed it with higher hopes. It will not boot into Windows 7 64bit. I formatted the SSD drive and tried re-installing the OS but ran into an error and the installation aborted. I tried installing the OS on a WD Raptor 150 HDD but the mouse and keyboard wouldn't perform. I removed the board put back in my Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R. I had to reinstall Windows 7 on my OCZ 100GB SSD and was shocked by how rapid the installation went as opposed to the try on the Asrock board.

Constructed three systems working with i7 920, 950 and the six-core 980X. All systems configured with 12GByte rapidly memory and Intel X25M SSD (with 4 GB HDD on each). Graphics are ATI 5770, 5850 and 5870 respectively. All builds had been difficulty absolutely free. See other thoughts. Close proximity of memory to CPU calls for careful choice of soon after market cooler. Arctic Rev 2 tends to foul tall memory and corsair ram coolers. Other heat sinks did not have this challenge and on reflection it is almost certainly a limitation on all x58 mobos. I can't say for sure. With 12GB Ɩ x 2GB) I did not have a big quantity of achievement overclocking the memory beyond 1600 but I seriously wasn't concerned sufficient to pursue the issue. All systems are rock steady. With SSD don\'t forget to configure your machine to AHCI or you will subsequently want to reconfigure 2 flags in the registry to switch from IDE to AHCI. If obtaining Intel, recall to verify for a TRIM firmware download that could be essential - this can be accomplished post the OS installation (driver is in the kind of an iso). Older boards may need a BIOS update for the 980X. Mine did not; memory and all 12 HT cores are present. I advise you check the contacts on the chip carrier just before inserting your cpu. Make confident they all appear fantastic beneath a magnifying glass! One particular board was RMA'ed due to bent pins on the socket, nonetheless this was found ahead of any startup and the replacement worked fine.

It has all the standard features found on the X58 platform The S/PDIF output on the motherboard in no way has worked. I just regarded it too huge a hassle to send back just for that. The USBs had been generally shutting down and not coming on even after rebooting many instances. This occurred about as soon as every single two weeks and lasted for hours on finish. The motherboard finally went nowadays. It truly caught on fire. Which is somewhat thrilling, but since I purchased it a year and 2 months ago, I'm out about 赨 for a new motherboard. Will surely not advocate Asrock to people I know constructing a method. I have been dissatisfied all through my ownership of it. And apparently the Asrock customer service team is off work for two weeks for the Chinese New Year. Which is not significantly worse than how they usually are, given that they only accept e-mails and only respond right after 3 days.

Exceptional interface for overclocking plus a reset switch appropriate on the board, lots of oldschool interfaces for floppy disks and old cd-roms (to me this is a plus I recycle alot of components) and lots of PCI slots of all type. This mobo flat out died on me soon after six months of use. I plugged an analog audio jack into its back socket (I had previously utilised a headphone jack in my laptop case's front panel) and it crashed, in no way to effectively post or boot up again (it would only effectively run for about 30 seconds before crashing.) I lost cash, time and information, producing this a 1 egg overview regardless of the pros. The awful warranty policy (there generally is no warranty if you study the fine print) need to have indicated to me that this was a terrible solution. The clear problem with this product is good quality handle. It worked fine for six months and the thing that destroyed it was an AUDIO JACK dilemma? Thats ludicrous. My feeling is that ASRock tends to make a decent solution all round but does not attend to ensuring the good quality of every individual element of the motherboard. A "mostly good" motherboard will work excellent for a certain amount of time, sufficient for the solution replacement policy to run out, and then it will die on you.

ASRock tech assistance said on the second dead board to return it for a refund.. I am switching back to ASUS (tried to save a couple of dollars by obtaining as ASRock... sent hours installing and returning the items) From now on... I will stick with ASUS or Gigabyte motherboards.

The only pro about this encounter was the really valuable and very understanding individuals in Newegg's buyer service & RMA departments who helped me get out of this ASRock nightmare. I ordered an ASRock many weeks ago. It arrived DOA. Newegg RMA'ed it and sent me a replacement of the identical make and model. It was also Dead On Arrival. Not even an error code on either motherboard to inform me what was wrong. I purchased this solution mainly because of a overview & endorsement from Tom's Hardware. Sometime in the final couple of months, ASRock have to have changed one thing about their manufacturing course of action. Perhaps they contracted with a various factory or maybe they fired all of their Excellent Handle employees to save funds. Tom's Hardware must re-evaluate this solution simply because ASRock is making Tom's review course of action look bad. The individual in Newegg's customer service division got me a store credit on the second DOA ASRock motherboard rapidly, effortlessly, and painlessly. I will apply Newegg's retailer credit to the buy of another manufacturer's motherboard when the RMA'ed ASRock is received at Newegg.I need to send a bill to ASRock for the time that they forced me to waste on their dead items. Newegg ought to seriously reconsider promoting this product line.Greatest guidance: Do *NOT* get this motherboard. It does not work, it won't even turn on!

Fairly low-cost motherboard with lots of capabilities, operates nicelyThe error code LCD indicator is a very good idea, but see cons Error code LED give codes that are apparently invalid (not in the manual or anyplace on the web page that I could fine) - it's a good notion, but worse than useless when the codes are wrong. If this occurs to you, try reseating all the components, such as really hard drives - that seemed to repair the difficulty for me. I'd obtain an additional if I necessary to.

The largest Pro is the fact I purchased an open box version for a C-note and anything was included in the box even the Sli bridge. Really simple to setup. Have the memory running at 1800 and the CPU 3.6 (i7 930), all I had to do is select the auto overclock in the bios and the speed I wanted to run. I had bought this to test my CPU. I had bought a Foxxcon Flamingblade and much less than a minute into preparing the bios for set up it went up in smoke. Glad I purchased this. I was so impessed I went ahead and employed it for my new develop. I purchased the Flamingblade insted of this the first time around. I have purchased Open box ahead of and was expecting the identical old white box with only a motherboard inside. What I located was a comprehensive kit .It looked as if it had never even been applied. All the plastic bags were nonetheless intact, I am guessing an individual bought this and a 1156 socket CPU and had to send it back.My compter specs:ASRock x58 Intense MotherboardIntel i7 930 operating at three.6GHzVital Ballistix Tracer Ɠ x 2GB) in RED operating 1800PNY nvidia 470 GTXCORSAIR Cooling Hydro Series H50HITACHI Deskstar 1TBCoolerMaster Storm Scout caseRocket Fish 900watt energy supplyLiteOn DVD burner

Inexpensive, function wealthy. Inexpensive. 1st board is DOA. Had to RMA and get a replacement. Then the new board is still unstable. Regularly, it merely can not wake from sleep. Blue screen sometimes. You can save dollars and headaches by getting a far more pricey but far more excellent motherboard from ASUS or Gigabyte. My earlier machines' Gigabyte motherboard still works properly following 10 years.
