I have used MSI boards for all my high finish machines and I really feel they are the most stable ones out there today specifically when it comes to OC'ing!!! I mean I have blasted them and they just cruise along like no big deal. And what about getting able to call the manufacturer's Tech Line and getting an answer, by someone who speaks english, and,,,, knows what they are speaking about!!! None!! I had bought an open box MSI board from Newegg after and the board didn't come with the I/O shield so I known as MSI and the guy went to see if the had one and mailed it to me!!!! These are very good folks!!!!

Great Mobo, works wonderful with I7-950 OC'd to three.8g, 6g DDR3 1333. Motherboard appears fantastic and has plenty of space about CPU for aftermarket HS/Fan. The small adapters - M connectors - for the Motherboard-case connections (Power/HD LED/Reset/Etc) produced it significantly less difficult to make all of the connections. SATA2 and external USB3 connectors had been in a weird spot in my case, created plugging connectors in a little challenging as these are in a horizontal config rather than vertical. would obtain again, prefer to set up this in a huge case as the horizontal SATA and USB3. connections are awkward on the edge of the Mobo.

Stunning, lots of expansion slots, good layout, excellent space around the processor, so installation of substantial heatsinks, even those with 2 fans is effortless. Recognized 24 gigs immediately, though at 1066, but uncomplicated to fix in BIOS. For most of the folks it woun't be an challenge, but for me, who records personal music, it is. The onboard sound chip, though incredibly good, it has a slight background hum, which tends to make it unsuitable for qualified high quality recording. Of course, I have a devoted pro soundcard anyway. Nevertheless, onboard sound chips are acquiring to the point where they fairly much rival at least the prosumer excellent committed sound cards. I gave the board 4 eggs due to the fact of the sound chip's hum and mainly because I own it for small time, so on durability the jury is still out. Folks, if you want the board to recognize 24 gigs, my opinion is that you'd greater acquire 24 gigs matched. Otherwise you'll run into problems. At 1st, I viewed as obtaining 3x8 gig kits (which would lowered the cost by โ!), but in doing some study on the Net I found a lot of complaints about such setup, re, only partial RAM recognition when unmatched packages are mounted onto the board. I didn't stress test the board yet. I am a composer and equencers with music sample libraries embedded pull by means of the system horrendous amounts of information. It remains to be noticed what efficiency indexes will result. This will also say a thing about the i7 950 on the board.Anyway, in my case, following verifying everything many instances, almost everything worked quickly. The only adjustment was to change RAM from 1066 to 1333.

I dont personal this board but i do personal its enthusiast brother the Big Bang XPower. Now the guy who mentioned it had memory problems has certainly no concept what he's speaking. The cause his board is recognizing 3GB is becuase he mixed two diverse kits of memory, dont do that due to the fact theres no assure they will work and if they do all register they will only be in single channel not even dual. If you want 6gb you buy the kit labeled 6gb if you want 12 you acquire that kit and so forth none

The motherboard operates, easy to set up. I had a tough time with it since of one particular situation. see cons This mother board has problems on how it boots into the drives that you have. For example it would not boot into my windows CD if the DVD drive was not initially in the boot sequence. Even if I enter the boot menu and choose DVD drive, it would state no bootable device. Only after I made it # 1 it boots. Also Even soon after windows is installed the Challenging drive requirements to be # 1 in the sequence to be able to boot into windows. I'm not positive if the board has difficulties or not, but I will attempt to make contact with MSI about this. The motherboard functions minus this a single issue. I took an egg away simply because of that. It took me way too significantly time to install windows mainly because of the boot dilemma. I also knowledgeable the not prepared all 6 GB or ram Ɩ installed three usable). but right after I re-installed windows it went away. not confident if it was that or all the other problems shooting I had to do to figure out the boot challenge. USB three., SATA six., strong develop I give it two stars simply because the board wont recognize much more than two.99 gb of ram... I have 12 gb of Corsair triple channel ram installed. Its just a bummer when a solution advertises supporting up to 24 gigs of ram and you come to discover that it seriously only supports three gigs. When Win7 brings up those tiny security warning windows, and dims the screen to get your attention, my screen goes off for two seconds or so and then comes back on again. I consider that may possibly be a challenge with the video card or PSU, not the motherboard (hopefully).I wish I could give five eggs but when a mobo only supports 1Ǟ the quantity of ram it advertises individuals must know. Nice seeking motherboard with several i/o slots like the 3xPCI x16 slots, USB3., etc. To be clear, the program has 3xCosair 2GB Dimms and running windows 7 x_64. The properties screen would read 6GB installed ƒ.99GB usable). So this was not an situation with a 32bit installation. As a earlier owner recommended they spent really a bit of time troubleshooting this situation. I encountered the similar. The via the internet support took 2 days to respond and every single response took a day apart only to unearth they told me that they had been unable to reproduce the challenge and I was supposed to contact a VAR or reseller. Completely unacceptable IMO. I had also sent an e-mail to the "usersupport2" alias and have not received to date ƕ days and counting). I'm not very confident how they can get in touch with an individual a valued customer with no response. After reading the assessment the reviewer described some thing about a BETA BIOS. I talked to the help individual about this and had to inform him that there was a beta bios readily available. Once the beta bios was installed, all of the memory was visible in windows 7. I spent rather a bit of time with this motherboard problem myself, with over the internet support, and more than the telephone. I identified the assistance with MSI to be quite poor. When I got it operating with the beta bios, the performance of the system was fine (and it saw all of the RAM i had installed).I gave it two stars considering of the time I spent troubleshooting and simply because of the poor assistance I received. Solid really feel, decent space, really easy OC'ing. I also had the memory addressing error Ɩ GB DDR3 Corsair Dominator triple channel only recognizing 2.99 as usable in windows 7 64 bit). Right after the 3rd or 4th OS set up/ RAM module square-dance routine (systematically swapping each and every module to the subsequent channel then reinstalling OS), I ultimately got it to read all 6 GB. Then it went downhill from there. Very first the onboard NIC would randomly no longer be detected, then memory BSOD's lit up my screen eight out of 10 occasions from a cold restart. I tested all ram and CPU employing memtest and prime95, as effectively as the HDD, all hardware passed quite a few rounds of testing. Reinstalled OS working with a distinct image (to rule out a corrupt windows dvd), and now the exact same factor is taking place-missing NIC randomly, BSOD's at startup etc.. The only possibility is this motherboard. The problems only occur when attempting to load windows. I applied the latest BIOS update, nonetheless the issues are nevertheless present. When windows is in fact operating, it functions flawlessly that is the only purpose I am getting gracious by giving it three eggs. But it confident is frustrating to have to attempt and restart it five or 6 instances just before windows will load. *PS, I've noticed a couple of individuals right here offer such uncomplicated naive treatments such as mentioning the 32 bit OS limitation causing only 2.99 GB RAM to be visible, or mixing different RAM modules as the trigger of the RAM bug in this board...please do not insult us. Neither of those scenarios would bring about only two.99 GB to be usable by the OS ࿀-bit OS has 4 GB limit, not 2.99 GB), so please do your homework prior to supplying suggestions. A well built board with lots of goodies. BIOS is quite configurable and usable. Looks good, and now appears to be fairly stable. 1st con, as talked about by other individuals in the horizontal placement of the SATA and USB III connectors. In my case, it was tough to use them...The second con I identified was utilizing SATA 9. Spent numerous days attempting to debug an situation where the method would just reset when going into Windows. Initially looked like a power or memory challenge. Turns out, it was the SATA 9 port. I utilised it due to the fact it is the a single vertical and effortlessly accessible SATA port on the board. I had my optical drive plugged into it. When I moved the optical drive to one of the Intel SATA ports, it worked fine.I looked at the current manual that is posted on MSI's web page and they no longer mention SATA 9. I wonder if they located matters with it as effectively... Good board if your case is big adequate to not have matters with the horizontal connectors and if you avoid SATA 9 like the plague.

I just wanted to appropriate one error I produced in the listing of the create in my other post. I am operating the memory at 1333Mhz, 8,8,8,24 - It has run for a couple weeks with errors. I have now built two of these systems and they each are running perfect. The WIN 7 scores shown in my post are for the 1333Mhz speed, not the 1066Mhz. One particular other observation - the S3 sleep mode will only wake up by pushing the power switch. I have not been sucessful obtaining the MS wireless keyboard to wake the technique. Personally I sort of like it this way, but I comprehend some persons could not. Other than that - It is a great develop. I see that till 2-26-2011 NewEgg is supplying pretty substantially the identical build in an e mail sales flier for 輕.99 after rebates. IMHO, that is a ton of pc for a tiny investment. Check it out and get one whilst you can.Put " in the search window and you will go directly to this specific package priced technique. Then add the HIS 6850 (Item No: N82E16814161348) or the video card of your selection and you will have a excellent program.

While the apparent pro's are the specs of the board and the ease of more than-clocking and the price tag. Channel_A (both DIMM's) DOA; The motherboard wouldn't even boot with any memory in either DIMM_01 or DIMM_02 (Channel_A), nevertheless it would run fine in Dual Channel with Channel_B and Channel_C, but since Channel_A wouldn't perform, it wouldn't allow for a Triple Channel setup of my 24GB DDR3...Also the MEMZ menu within the BIOS appears to have small to no manage over the actual memory, even though you can modify the settings, nothing seriously occurs, I'm assuming this has some thing to do with Channel_A not working MSI technical support is by far 1 of the worst I've encounted, about 6-8 years ago they were pretty fantastic on their tech help, but now it's some of the worst.Possibly a wonderful motherboard IF it was defective, from hunting about at other critiques folks seem to be getting this concern A LOT with the GD45, so it would point to be a production issue in my opinion. Possibly speed the additional money and get the GD65, as it appears to have much less problems, nevertheless I went back to an EVGA motherboard immediately after these dealings with MSI. Plus EVGA tech help is far superior to MSI's... which tends to make me really feel like a valued consumer. MSI makes excellent solutions. USB three. A Marvell SE9128 is supplying the SATA 6 functionallity. If you're getting this board to pair the SATA 6 controller with a SATA 6 SSD, such as the C300, you're going to be sorely disappointed. The Marvell chip can\'t deal with the throughput of SATA 6 and will stutter and result in "lag freeze" on your system. Don't pair with SATA 6 SSD

Great Mother Board! Good layout and excellent elements. Not confident what the whole deal with the "Military Grade" factor is but I guess it can't be a bad factor :P The 6Gb/s SATA plugs are good for a Raid setup. Bios are actually basic and uncomplicated to navigate. Would like to have more than two 6Gb/s SATA plugs but it seems to perform just fine. To clarify the issue individuals have been having with only getting able to use two.99 GB of their RAM. It's not anything at all to do with the Motherboard. You need to have a 64-bit operating method to use a lot more than four GBs of RAM. Sadly the 32-bit Operating Systems aren't programmed to accept additional than that. I produced the mistake of grabbing the incorrect Windows CD. Immediately after installation I seen that it only had 2.99GBs of RAM usable and then scrolled down and realized that I installed the 32-bit OS. After correcting my mistake and putting in the 64-bit OS, I had the complete 16GBs that I had installed :DIntel i7 970 | Nvidia GTX 470 SLI | Corsair 16 GB DDR3 RAM | 1TB WD Caviar Black (x2) Raid | ABS Majesty 1100W Power Supply

The vendor told me that to make it read all the memory I had to flash my BIOS with this beta version, but if I did, I did it at my own danger. Type of cheesy for a motherboard organization to tell you that on a board that is hardly a month old. They fixed the dilemma, but it was not fun, and if it failed, or hurt the motherboard, I was out 赝... This is one of the most lovely Motherboards that I have physically in a incredibly lengthy time. I have owned a couple of MSI boards and by far this is the most visually pleasing IMO. As for the memory concerns; the initially factor that I would suggest, if you purchased a 12GB matched pair: i.e. three x4 GB from the very same vendor, and you are getting memory difficulties, take out your cpu and appear for any mis aligned "pins" in the socket. (note: they are not actually pins, simply because LGA stands for Landing Grid Array). But at times the socket cover can get jostled about and some of the contact points get misaligned. I bought the CORSAIR CMX12GX3M3A1333C9 12GB kit and had no concerns. Hope this helps a person in the future. Joking appropriate?
