Cons: Bracket installation (minuscule bolts and nuts requiring very careful mountage) takes me about 30 min just to fit it all corectly...

Pros: Great for oldest board with no heatpipe VRM cooler, etc...
Comment:
Keeps my northbridge cooler than the stock heatsink but was a pain in the *** to put in place...

Cons: I wish it came with a sticker. I didn't get one with mine :'(.

Pros: It's well designed and it works for almost any mobo
Comment:
I really like this thing, you don't appreciate it until you get it in your hands and get a good glance. Its design is flawless; just like Zalman's CPU HSFs. If you turn the connectors and the push pins just right you can make it fit on a southsridge too if your layout is similar to mine.I currently have it on this boardASUS M4A89TD Pro ATX Motherboard AM3 DDR3 2 X PCIe 2.0 x16 CrossFireX USB 3 eSATA with a Zalman CNPS9700LED Blue & AMD Phenom II x2 3.3GHz BE 560.The southbridge is now cooler and I feel confident adding additional drives w/o worrying about damage to my system.

Cons: Too large(blocked all satas ports and couldnt install 2 sloter vid card on PCIEX 1) , very hard to install

Pros: stay cool, efficient
Comment:
Installed it on a NV4 chipset on a ECS kn1 extrem mobo. I had to sacrifice important fonctionnalities. My mobo died few hours after the install, however I dont think this cooler was related.

Cons: Design flaw, gave me a defective "nut"

Pros: Appearance, price, brand
Comment:
I installed this on the nforce4 chipset of my A8N-E. Due to the design, there is limited space to put the little arms. You can't place them along the center of the side of the heatsink, which limits your install options.Due to this, I had to turn the heatsink 90 degrees, which then conflicted with my graphics card heatsink, and the required modding took several hours. Also, one of the nuts had the center hole off-center, and it almost made the netire product unusable had it not been for the fact that I had another spare Zalman heatsink with an identical nut, and broken nut worked with the other unit. bought to replace a old stock cooler on my Abit IC7-MAX3.way better than the stock cooler that it came with, plus that fan was way too loud, and had a very high pitched whine that I couldn't stand any longer.

Cons: Installation is tricky

Pros: No noise, no moving parts to break
Comment:
Used this to replace the problematic chipfan of the Asus A8N-E. Apparently asus will ship a replacement fan, but no moving parts, no extra noise appealed to me more. Rather fiddly to install, but quite effective at dissipating heat.

Cons: -Complicated installation (unless ur an engineer)

Pros: -More affective than previous Nvidia NB fan cooler
Comment:
This product works fairly well, though if ur using an Nvidia mobo like my 680i SLI, this product might (just might) not be enough for ur temperature ego. On the 680i NB, the Zalman is hot to touch (finger cannot touch for more than 3seconds). So if u want lower temps for ur NB, u'll need some good air circulation in ur case. btw, it took me an hour to install this Zalman.

Cons: Small screws can drive you nuts! Can be a little difficult to line up and tighten without losing your alignment.

Pros: Cheap, good adjustability.Works as advertised
Comment:
I used this because my Xigmatek cpu cooler did not clear the stock NB heatsink on a DFI BloodIron mobo. Using this gave me the clearance and reduced my temps from 44C to 37C.

Pros: Fanless design, so noiseless!
Comment:
This cooler has the advantage of being fanless. I replace the 6000 RPM fan of my Asus motherboard with this. It still offers better cooling! But the system used by this cooler, being universal, can be a pain to install, especially when, like me, you have to take off you glasses to see little things for up close...I'm hoping this one will not do like the previous Zalmann cooler. i.e.: popping one of it's retaining pin, and thus burning out the northbridge !

Cons: The clips designed with this north bridge was hard to mount. The screws are very hard to lock in place. Adjustments were necessary befor and after installation.

Pros: Cooling to the max with this North Bridge cooler. Fanless operation and Unique Clip design.
Comment:
I was frustrated because the bolts that slide inside the mounting rails were very loose. I had them tightened before installation, but due to a minor wiggle, the crews came loose.

Pros: typically high Zalman qualitycools well
Comment:
i replaced an older ZM-NB47J with this. It cools as much better than the ZM-NB47J as that cooled better than the stock chipset heatsink. The horizontal size of this heatsink means there's a fair chance that motherboard bits will obstruct its installation. Luckily its aluminum fins can be bent out of the way quite easily.i also used small zip ties to fasten it down on the motherboard, instead of using the plastic, spring loaded nubbins that comes with the heatsink for that purpose. Those nubbins really don't hold the heatsink down very tightly. The more pressure used to clamp a heatsink down, the better the heat transfer. 2 zip ties per installation hole; one to go from the top into the holes, another from the bottom of the motherboard, ratcheted onto the first one to hold it in and to apply clamping force.

Cons: Difficult to install on some boards

Pros: No fan to make noise
Comment:
I bought this a couple months ago to replace the northbridge fan on my asus a8n-5e, which was screaming like a banshee. The installation was more difficult than I expected. The proximity of the chipset to the PCI-E slot meant the sink had to be angled a certain way.You attach this unit to the board with a couple of angled arms which you fasten to the heat transfer block. It took a lot of adjustment to get it sitting so that it did not obstruct my vid card.Temps on the northbridge were still warm, but that's no real surprise. I bought this as a final solution to a never ending process of replacing dead fans, and it delivered!

Review Date: 08/05/07
Cons: Didn't fit well on an MSI P6N (NForce 680i), A Lot of work to Install

Pros: Seems to cool well, looks nice, silent
Comment:
I have an MSI P6N Motherboard with the NForce 680i Chipset. I quickly learned that the 680 is a VERY HOT chipset. My motherboard had an elaborate 3 part heatsink & heatpipe design to cover the VRMs (I think that's what they are), the Northbridge, and southbridge. Unfortunately, it wasn't working well enough, because if I unplugged the fan, it would get hot and my sound would get all garbled.Anyways, I thought I'd try this product and see if it worked any better for me. First off, I had to take apart most of the computer and remove the motherboard. After that, I removed the old heatsink assembly, and actually broke the heatpipe off so that I could keep the sink for the voltage regulators... (I couldn't get the heatpipe out though, so I'll probably be breathing methanol fumes for a while). Then I tried mounting this NBF47 heatsink on the northbridge, and to my unpleasant surprise, the way they had the northbridge rotated, coupled with the way the mounting bracket slots on the NBF47 are arranged meant that I couldn't mount the heatsink straight. I ended up getting it on, but it is pretty crooked and the pins don't sit straight. It doesn't seem that secure all in all... but I put it on with some Arctic Silver 5, and put my machine back together.Preliminary testing seems to indicate that it performs better than the original heatsink (I'm mainly just happy that I didn't destroy my computer). The heatsink gets hot enough to the touch to cause some serious pain after prolonged exposure, but I didn't smell any burning skin... nonetheless, my crackly audio situation seems to be improved, so let's hope that means it's working. All in all, with the 680i, I still think you'd want some airflow over this thing... I'm going to obtain a very large 200+mm case fan for the side of my case which should acheive that.I'd recomment this, but maybe not for my particular P6N board.

Comment:
I am not convinced of the performance of this product. I installed it on my P5B which I thought was getting pretty hot (45 idle when FSB overclocked a lot, it is summer here, room temp = 35 ). After installing, the temperature decreased to 44 idle .... I got a better drop by putting ramsinks on the mosfets (now 35 idle).

Cons: Can be tough to install

Pros: Pretty; quiet (obviously); cools well.
Comment:
Bought this for a buddy who had a fan on his chipset. It does the job. It's quiet and dissipates the heat well. He installed it by cutting the old pushpins that held the old fan in place, which made the install relatively easy. The tiny nuts and bolts and the sliding rail mount are fussy, but that makes them adjustable for different mobos. We were initially worried about the fit, but there were no space issues. He has an older mobo: Gigabyte 8IPE1000P3 socket 478.

Cons: Fits, but a *little* on the large side if replacing faulty chipset cooler on an ASUS A8N-SLI/Deluxe (original) models

Pros: Sturdy DesignGreat Value/"bang-for-buck"
Comment:
Gets the job done! Used (quite successfully) to replace the chipset cooler (that little 6250 to 8000RPM fan thingy found on S939 ASUS mobos from the A8N series, namely (mine was) an older A8N-SLI. GREAT board, chipset fan crapped out after about 6 months of running close to 24/7. Although I'm aware of the fact that apparently ASUS will ship you a replacement free of charge, I have a friend who took advantage of this (his crapped out on an ASUS A8N-Deluxe SLi board (one of the first released) after working just fine for a couple years.I have since built an entirely new system now (using the ASUS SLI-Premium and couldn't be happier) *but* I now have enough spare parts, including this A8N-SLI, to build yet another not-as-fancy-as-my current rig. Best part - the mobo cooling is SILENT!! :)Sys/Chipset temps used to run 32 degrees average (with the old small chipset fan) and this product is working beautifully - keeps board/chipset temp around 36 degrees.Recommended over the (equally crappy, imHo) replacement fan that ASUS will send you. Seat it properly and it will keep your northbridge temps within a perfectly acceptable range. This is the extent of my knowledge with this product and its applications - as a passive cooling replacement on ASUS mobos.Cheers!
