Setup was quick and easy on Vista with the provided CD. Customizing takes a bit of trial and error, but not difficult. Worth the buy!

:( I had my Iomega Home Storage media 1tb installed and everything was working just fine until I tried to set it up remote access and security options, but what it trigger the mal function on my unit it was when i was trying to set it up a fixed ip address so i can foward a ftp port to the Iomega Home Storage media 1tb and booom, now it doesn't recognized on my network and doesn't connect to my router wich is lynksys WRT54GS2, and it's keeping flashing beetween blue and yellow ligth on Iomega Home Storage media 1tb , that means no connection to the router, I tried everything, I reset the Iomega Home Storage media 1tb several times after, reset my router , test the hub port on the router, even change my lan ip address to xxx , cause on the manual says that

This product performs as stated in the ads, it is about the same price as a regular external drive but after setup it can be used from the local network or from the internet. The setup was easy and I was able to access the drive from all three of my network devices and the internet in a matter of minutes. You can set permissions for individual devices or people you wnt to give access over the internet. Great product for the money.

The hardware and software for NAS functioned as advertised. If that's all you need, then go for it. The print server function did not work for me and the free chat support was not at all helpful. They could not provide a list of supported printers.

The product works well. Easy to set up and does what is advertized. It is a great addition to my home network. Allowing my wife and I to access our music and pictures from any computer in the house.

The drive is not reliable for consistent backup. More often then not it goes off-line and need a reboot during large backup. It is OK for moving small files around but why would you need 1TB for that, but inadequate for real backup. Another product falling short from this company. Will not buy again.

I bought this product 4 months ago, and have filled it to capacity since. Overall, it's a pretty good product for the money I paid ($150 shipped). It occasionally locks up, but a simple reboot fixes that. As a result, installing the local software is a must, so the drives remap automatically (it likes to switch IPs frequently, so mapping by IP is a fail unless you reserve IPs in your DHCP pool). I use this as a NAS and not as a backup drive, so the option to back it up to another device would be wonderful (ie, an external 1TB drive plugged into the USB port). I haven't tried plugging in a printer or another drive to the USB port yet, so I can't say how well it works.

This piece isn't worth 2 cents. Randomly reverts back to DHCP. Or, static IP is pingable, but not (back-slash back-slash)browsable. HTTP doesn't respond. Reboot? Now where's my files now? I shouldn't return it. I should throw it in the fire to save someone from an open-box deal headache. Karma, you know.

The instructions are pretty, pretty annoying. The set up was easy enough, unless you have more than one computer on your network (novel idea) Oh, and don't try to save to anything except the name the drive assigns, the software will never find the files path. Don't let software lock-up bother you, it is normal. (It happens on all my systems.) and don't panic when it finally works and then the files disappear, the files are still there, you just can't have them back until you cycle the power off and REMAP THE ITCHEN DRIVE! then everything will work nicely until you try

I needed a simple - low cost solution to quickly add a ton of shared access file storage for my office. This device works perfect. I quickly installed this NAS and configured the folder storage for general access. For the few users that needed secure storage - I quickly configured their login access and folder permissions.

This product is a great value for the money. It sets itself up instantly as a media drive that any computer on your network can see. You need to install the software provided to enable full use and configuration of the drive, however, no big deal. Easy to use menus allow for folders to be set up for your specific type of media. I transferred my entire media library to the drive wirelessly (4000 songs, videos, etc) in about 3 hours. I plugged my printer into the port on the drive and it instantly set up a wireless print server that any of the family net books can now print on. No need for one computer to always be on and in printer sharing mode. No need to purchase a new wireless enabled printer. Finally, your purchase entitles you to a year of web access to the drive for free via a third party. All this and 1TB of space for under 200? A total bargain.

After fighting with the product for a couple of hours to figure out its quirks with Snow Leopard, I finally got it working well. However, later that same day, I noticed my network was bogging down to insane slow speeds. It was not my internet, as I have road Runner turbo and it wasn't the computer, as all of my computers were having the same issues. After Logical troubleshooting, I determined it was the NAS HDD and after taking it off line for an entire day, I have had no further issues. I'm returning it now, just got off the phone with their customer service and they were more than accommodating. Boo Iomega, Yay guys. Don't recommend the product.

Perhaps it's just because this is exactly the product I had been searching for, but this network drive just works. The set up is simple and flawless. The drive is quiet and unobtrusive. It is slightly slower than an internal or USB drive because of the nature of the HTML server, but it is a must buy for any home network.

This is the first Iomega product I've ever bought. The device was never found by DHCP and the management app sent me to an address of 5.6.49.120. I was unable to access the drive to give it a static address. The Iomega help desk suggested that I download and install a newer version of manager, but I informed them that I had already done that. Then they said they were stumped. After reading the forums, I found that I probably don't want it anyway, as there were many instances of the drive just not transferring big files, or losing them completely. I realise this is probably a one of a kind problem, but I just shouldn't have to spend hours with no success, just to hook up a drive.

Bought this and installed it with no porblem on my home wireless network. We have both PC's and Mac's accessing the drive and it was a simple install. Had to go to Customer Support Chat and get the latest drives for Windows 7 and Mac OS X10.6 but no problem after that.

This drive is quiet (unless your PC is silent you'll never hear it) and it vents heat well. It can be directly connected to your PC using an Ethernet cable, or it can be used through a hub. The features are basic, but how much can you ask for with an entry-level NAS? Installation and configuration are simple. My only complaints about this system are: It occasionally crashes Explorer when I'm scrolling through long lists of files and folders using the mouse wheel. Yes, I've installed the firmware update as well as WinXP SP3 and the latest Logitech mouse drivers. If you try to install it using only the packaged documentation, you won't know that the reason it's failing is due to needing a firmware update. I recommend all new buyers visit Iomega's support site BEFORE installing this product. Read the notices and download the update. It will save you time and frustration

I'm not certain why I can't submit my comments. I am not including web link, specific companies, nor specific characters. Maybe this comment will work. Buy and try. It worked for me, but the software they provide is not worth using. Moving data over the network was the most important thing for me.

After reviewing several networked storage drives, I settled on this one because of the low price tag, and the ability to run a print server as well. Overall, I'm pleasantly surprised for what I got for the money, including a 1-year remote access which is very useful ($10 per year afterward). Setup was EXTREMELY easy, multiple read & write operations worked seamlessly. The only 2 issues I have (although these may be problems with ALL NAS devices) are: - You lose the multifunction ability when networking a printer (printing works, but not scanning) - When you delete anything off the drive, it is permanently deleted (not sent to recycling bin for instance), so accidental deletes are a risk

Overall this is an excellent product. The software would not install on my Vista OS, which was solved with a quick call to the Iomega CS where I was given a link to a download and all was good. If I had one complaint it would be that there needs to be more step by step installation instructions shipped with the unit for more novice users, like myself.
