Cons: To many keystrokes to get to network devices. I cant figure out how to use the shortcut feature

Pros: Easy to connect to wireless. latest ASUS firmware has a feature that streams online radio and TV (preset stations)
Comment:
Overall a solid product .. ASUS keeps releasing firware updates.:). HD video (1080p) stalled a bit when streming over wireless network. Played all the various type of video files ihave. card slot makes for quick show and tell.

Cons: Not Mac compatible

Pros: Plays every format
Comment:
Tired of encoding movies for play on my AppleTV. Had a no-name box before and it was starting to malfunction. Went back and forth over this or the WDTV. Unfortunately the networking functions don't work with Macs. Needed to format USB drive in NTFS format as well. Plays every format so far. The main reason you're buying this is to connect a USB hard drive and playback 4+GB HD files. So far flawless. This review is based on the latest v1.12 firmware. The problems previous reviewers have mentioned I have not encountered. The menu and UI takes a while to get used to but it isn't bad. Remote is very responsive. I would buy this unit again.

Cons: No APE and FLAC support, No DTS-MA/HD decode, lack of remote host, no build-in BT download, no YouTube yet

Pros: support RMVB, Wifi N, eSata; great on VC-1 and Remux replay;

I have been using O!Play R1 more than half year. It is an awsome device with firewire R3-1.09N with a 802.11g USB. Now I am getting this R3 since I really love in this baby. I feel R3 is much powerful and fast responsed than R1, but maybe they are using same chipset. Even I never use WDTV before, but i am sure u won't regret buying O!play R1 or R3. I have the confidence O!play will be better and better in the new coming FW.

Cons: Troubles logging into Windows 7 shares; remote is irresponsible, user interface is bad - imagine xterm style GUI

Pros: Plays everything
Comment:
Considering RMA-ing this thing. Yes, it plays everything, but it won't login into Win7 share every other day, remote is terrible, GUI is sooo user unfriendly.

Cons: The remote is terrible (or maybe the IR receiver?).

Pros: Easy to setup and so far has played pretty much everything I've thrown at it.
Comment:
Ordered it Wednesday and was delivered Thursday (great stuff NCIX - you rock!). Really like the features and great for use where you don't necessarily want/need a PC to show pictures, videos, etc.. Can load up the stuff I need on a memory card or hard drive and just take that and the player to friends/family to show content. At this point though, I've almost given up trying to setup the network part just because the remote is so bad. Hoping it isn't the IR receiver and that maybe I can find the setup for a universal remote. Shame, because other than that one thing I love the device.

Cons: laggy, remote unresponsive, pause, FF/RW, etc is laggy, terrible menu navigation.

Pros: size, plays many formats, wireless, price?
Comment:
Bought this to replace my XBOX with XBMC... the XBOX blows this out of the water except that the XBOX cannot play as many formats (but all I use is regular DivX).Terrible menu navigation, network links, etc... Laggy as hell when trying to FF/RW, play, stop, pause, etc... Remote is good, but laggy (even when using a Logitech Harmony), so it's the unit itself, not the remote.Updated to latest firmware 1.09N and I still can't be bothered to use this thing over the XBOX w/XBMC.

Cons: Responsiveness

Pros: Compatibility
Comment:
When using the wireless, the remote is somewhat frustrating to use, got to press multiple times. The FF and rewind are useless but it has a nice skip feature you can customize to 1 min, 2 min, etc. Would be nice to have a firmware update  to optimize the remote responsiveness.

*Make sure you upgrade firmware! It really helps a lot*I bought this to stream HD content from my computer to the TVI initially made it connect to my router so it could connect to my 'shared' hard drive on my main desktop computer. Generally the connection was in the low range and it couldn't manage to play HD content very well. Even though my router computer and tv are all fairly close (20feet range).Had a second wireless card lying around, so i installed that in my computer (so it now has two), and created an 'ad hoc' network with it. Now with the O!play connecting directly to my computer, as opposed to through the router, the speed has increased by about 8 times. So generally make sure your connected DIRECTLY to your computer if you want to play HD content. Now I have no issues playing any HD content (though some wireless networking issues due to having two wireless cards in one computer, hope to figure those out soon)**As to the complaints about the remote control being unresponsive, I too found that to be the case AT FIRST, when my device was connecting through my router and had a slow connection, the remote was very unresponsive to commands.HOWEVER, when I had a direct signal to my computer and the speed was extremely high the remote's responsiveness increased DRAMATICALLY. THE FIRWARE dramatically increased remote's responsiveness as well**- So for me the response from the remote depended entirely on how good the wireless connection was. Cons: Remote can be slow to respond, although even during 1080p wifi streaming, it hasn't been anything to have fits over and hurl the remote around. If I were going to be picky, I would say it would have been nice to have the option to view all types of readable files at once while browsing through a folder. But again, this is a VERY minor issue.Only cable which ships with the unit is a crappy composite. With the price of HDMI having come WAY down in the last two years, it would have been nice to have one in the package.

Pros: Plays everything I've thrown at it flawlessly, including some odd Canon mjpegs my older Philips divx player couldn'tWiFi works perfectly, and is stunningly easy to setup - no manual required, and worked first time.browser simple, yet functional and well laid-out
Comment:
Terrific little box. Setup was absurdly easy and provided more options than I would have imagined. Connection to my wireless home network was as easy as entering the network key, and away we went. In fact I initially had thought I'd be wanting to pick up a cheap portable hard drive to swap between this and my PC, but after what I've seen it do with wireless performance, it's just not neccessary. Up and running, it has played everything, including ISOs and DVD with menus flawlessly. I'll definetly be picking up a second one for our smaller TV.

Cons: Slow Processor(s)Wireless N over 2.4GHz onlyRemote is unresponsive while playing Hi-Def over WirelessVery basic GUI

Pros: Supports a wide range of file formatsCompactWireless NSimple to useTurns on and off quicklyDoesn't get hot
Comment:
Nice, little, cheap media player, but as usual you get what you pay for. The device is able to play 1080p files but it does affect the performance of the remote - apparently the CPU devotes very few cycles to it. When you use the wireless for playback of high-def files, you often have to press the remote buttons multiple times to get a response. In some cases it can take up to 10 seconds of button pressing before it works. Subtitles are always on by default, so you'll have to pause playback before attempting to use the subtitle menu to turn them off. If you want your remote to be more responsive, use a USB drive. The GUI does not have a time bar - if you want to move fast through a media file, your only options are multi-speed fast forward or time displacement (default is 10 minutes). The resume playback option is good. The wireless portion works only at 2.4GHz which can be a problem if your router only does wireless N at 5GHz. Due to the high bitrates of 1080p files, your playback can sometimes be choppy over wireless - 720p files appear to be smooth, depending upon distance. This is the first 'cheap' media player I have used so I cannot compare it to others. You might want to consider powerline ethernet instead of wireless. Overall this is a decent device as long as you have the patience not to hurl the remote through your TV set.
