This external Hard drive runs very quiet and also runs very cool due to the small fan built in. The USB cord that is included is very short about 2 feet long, so if you plan on putting the HD some place away from the computer think of getting a longer cable. The unit comes pre-formated in FAT 32. ready to use out of the box. Before formating unit make sure you copy the back up software off the driveThe Unit comes in a sealed case, and is non servicable by end user without voiding warranty. So think about your HD size needs before your purchase.
