APEX AL-A400ATX 400W Power Supply
Comment:
This power supply met requirements, was surely at the proper value point, and had all of the connectors I necessary. When plugging everything in, various of the pins in the power connectors popped appropriate out of the back of the plastic. I have installed countless power supplies before and haven't had this happen to date. Either quality control or manufacturing was lacking. I could have just put up with it if it was in my laptop or computer but this was for a customer so I RMA'd it for a thing else. I am confident the power provide would have worked fine and other people may not have the same difficulty I did, but I don't want to take the risk of power pins flopping about inside a buyers case and have to deal with the damage that may well trigger.

Four years of rock-solid heavy use in a hot atmosphere without any difficulty whatsoever. Proof positive that you don't need to have to invest $$$ to get a dependable, stable power provide. It's also whisper-quiet. None whatsoever. I ordered and installed this in January 2004. I totally forgot to write a assessment till I finally dismantled the program just now. Since this PS is still going powerful, it's becoming "recycled" into my HTPC.

Comments: I have most likely utilized about 14 of these units more than the past three years. I have however to have them fail in any of the computers that I have built. The voltages are usually well inside spec. and fluctuation has not been an problem in any of the computers. The new 1 (see pics) come with a 24 pin (detachable last 4 pins) connector, to make them far more very easily compatable with the socket 775. As long as you have sufficient air flow via your box, and use a devoted rear exhaust fan or blow hole fan, heat will not be an concern in this power provide. There are superior power supplies, but this is absolutely the ideal power supply for the $$.

Good and quiet. I had previously bought a much less costly power provide for the similar case, but the fan sounded like a vacuum cleaner when it ran. I then purchased this Allied/Apex and I am considerably happier. None

It has served me properly for over a year. It has started generating a somewhat loud, extremely annoying, high-pitched whining sound about 15 months following acquire. I ensured that the sound is indeed coming from the PSU by disconnecting all components, and then powering up the PSU alone. This ensured that the high-pitched sound is indeed coming from the PSU. Apparently one of its capacitors has gone negative. I have to replace it now.I have only a moderate load on this PSU: 1 Athlon64, one video card, 2 method fans, one difficult drive, 1 optical drive, and one PCI card.

Overall, this is a wonderful product and keeps the case as nicely as the unit itself cool. With those two fans how could it not. Initially unit sent to me had a high-pitched whine on the transformer (bad sign). Nonetheless, Newegg was much more than valuable in finding this replaced by means of the RMA approach. The new 1 works perfectly. This is a wonderful business to do business with.

Comments: WOW! I buildand function on computers for a living and all I have to say is wow! I was genuinely worried about employing this brand simply because I generally use brands like Antec, Improve, and so on. that are far more properly identified. You obsolutely can not beat this low cost and the stability and functions of this unit:SATA connector included! TONS of power connectors, I doubt you'd use them all! This thing is Really quiet! It could not be as power efficient as the ᡾% units, but ya can't have everything for this price. It also has the choice of 20 or 24 pin power connection, it merely slides together to form the 24 pins needed. The fans are on the bottom to pull the heat out via the back fan. This supply decreased my heat by 7-9 degrees F. compared to the crummy temporary 1 fan unit I had in there. And oh, don't worry about power, on my unit I have a SATA drive with seperate fan, 3 inside fans, a video card fan, 2 video cards, 2 sound cards, dvd-rw and dvd-rom, and a lot more. Been entirely stable. The amd 2.4GHZ athlon processor loves this unit! I have no doubt it would be superb on a P4 unit too!If you're looking for a more affordable alternative to Antec then this is it! Don't be afraid to try this brand! Appear out Antec, you've got a new competitor!

Comments: Exceptional acquire! Really pleased with the high quality of the item and it was effortless to install. Upgraded from our 250W power supply to the A400ATX power supply. Runs quiet, not overly hot, and plenty of additional plugs for any upgrades. If you are searching for an affordable upgrade to your power supply, this is the one I'd pick. Rapidly shipping too. Way to go newegg!

This is a excellent powerful running PSU, was extremely stable for me.PSU has pleanty amps and can power most videocards up to and about the x1950pro. When I upgraded from a 9800pro to a x1950pro this PSU would only energy on the PC if it was hooked up a certain way (cable routing) and was running underload attempting to power the x1950pro... this caused the unit to start running hotter.I replaced the PSU with a 600w unit. This a great PSU just dont overload it.I believe the x1950pro was pretty much to significantly for it.

Bought this power supply with an Apex case. I was a small apprehensive at very first, trigger I usually get the Antec brand. I was pleasently surprised by the weight of the power supply. Label referred to as it a 400 w power supply and I have identified that some of the bargain units are light as a feather and burn out in a short time under real world loads. This unit seems as robust as the power supplies identified in Dell and HP computers. A little lean on SATA power connectors. Only had two, but that was all I required for the build. There are four molex, so and adapter would be necessary if far more SATA devices are added. I would possibly buy this supply as a replacement for a bad one, but the 400w model is the lowest in their line I would purchase. I believe 300w output is most likely the absolute this unit would supply continuously.

Steady so far as I have owned this, and applied it for over 2.five years on a day-to-day basis. Hasn't failed me as soon as. Works nicely on affordable builds. This still has a 20 pin connector so its not preferable for up to date builds, unless the board isn't picky on its power supply. I'd advise some household function before obtaining this. I put this in on my second upgrade and will be sadly missed when I upgrade once more and get a larger and far more presentྸ pin) PS

Owning this energy supply for four.five years and still stand up pretty well... Certainly will get the very same one for my next upgrade... So far only 1 molex connector went bad ... Immediately after four years, fan is acquiring a bit noisier.... Have been making use of this to power AMD 2400+, 1 AGP ATI 8500 graphics card, 4 HDs, 2 DVDRW Drives, 3 Fans, 3 PCI addon cards, and 2 USB devices. Can't complaint ....

Wonderful PSU for the cost. I've had this over four years - considering that then I've upgraded memory, added Tricky Drives, upgraded graphics card, added DVD-CD RW, all of this definitely taxing the power - still runs strong. none My specs are ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe motherboard., 1 video card, 6 program fans, two challenging drives, 2 optical drives, and 1 PCI card. As long as 1 has sufficient air circulation going in and out of PC all parts ought to last longer. Heat is the principal trigger that kills.

Would make an fascinating paper weight. The wires turn in to a cat toy. This is a terrible psu. It keeps iratic voltages. The cooling fans though fairly are not capable of keeping the unit cool. The power yeild is so poor you can actualy hear your gans loosing voltage even though there on. Unit will fail durring gaming. The unit will fail video cards that demand an additional power connector at post.(you will have to make numerous attempts at a succesful post-organizing the the wires to where there is no other device connecteds the exact same power strand assists alittle but still a nusance and totally unacceptable.) I feel let down by this unit due to the fact i thought that it would be a superior low end psu to start off with about two years ago. I was sorely mistaken. This unit could only be suited for light household/office machines but would still raise questions about its stability. And I honestly didnt put extremely significantly equipment on it either only on cd drive 1 7200rpm difficult drive an athlon 2800+ radeon 9800xt one gig of 2700 ram and a couple case fans and it couldnt handel it. Maybe if it were to be out fitted with an amd 1800+ or 2.4- p4 it would be too poor but thats not quite reasonable to the consumer. You can discover much much far better units for only a few dollars a lot more.(old man) I recommend seeking for something with active PFC as well.
