Cons: Cheapness of build--colored aluminum casing fractured easilyOverheatsCooks hard drives

Pros: Holds IDE and SATA drives
Comment:
I had purchased one of these about a year ago because I thought $20 after MIR was a good price, especially given how the enclosure can hold both IDE and SATA drives.Right from the get-go, there were some problems:The USB device was not recognized until after a period of pulling out/plugging back in, when my hard drive finally recognizes. The 250gb IDE drive I had in there died within 1 month of being inside the enclosure, when it had served my old computer without any problems. Thinking that perhaps the drive was too old, I put in a new 500gb SATA drive to use externally, only to have the same thing happen. After claiming warranty on the drive, the same thing happened to the replacement drive, as well as any other drive I put inside. In the end, I deduced that it was this enclosure's fault, but upon contacting AcomData, they told me that they would not create  an RMA for any of their products not purchased from their online store.Bad enclosure, bad customer service, and a pretense of warranty.I would give it only 1/5 star, but do not have the receipt anymore.

Cons: wires are a little tight

Pros: Easy to set up, looks good, metal case
Comment:
This case was easy to install a hard drive into and set up was a breeze. The enclosure and drive stayed cool even though I wrote about 100GB onto it all at once. Worked well.

Cons: Large power adapter with short cable.Plastic feel.

Pros: Cool and Quiet. Work for both IDE and SATA
Comment:
I was told it might be difficult to install a hard drive because of the tight space inside. I didn't have problem as the instruction detail stated how to put the extra cable. I had several drive enclosures, like Ventec, Antec, nGear...etc. This one replaces the nGear which causes data lost and problems in disconnection. This one has no problem and works fine right after installation is done. It's quiet, not only because there is no fan, but also I can hardly hear the noise of the hard drive. After working for more than an hour, the enclosure is still cool.Power adapter is big and may cause inconvenient in connection and carrying. The cable used to connect to enclosure is not that long too :(The case is plastic feel and not as strong as aluminum feel of Ventec and Antec, but it is ok for me and I care the performance. It accepts both IDE and SATA is an advantage that I am now install an old IDE hard drive inside. It may continue work for me when I buy a new SATA hard drive later.

Cons: Drives mount on really thin metal.

Pros: Decent enough for the $18 if the rebate every shows up.
Comment:
Not built nearly as heavy as the Antec drive enclosure but it was cheaper. Cooling may be an issue if its left turned on for a long time.

Cons: too much plastic parts, the plastic stand seems very weak.

Pros: The appearance is cool with blue light when working, it could be used for both IDE/SATA hard drive, but....
Comment:
As it's my first time to buy enclosure, I don't know if it's reasonable that many plastic parts with this enclosure: front and rare covers, stand, and internal frame (hard driver is fixed on a plastic frame). for this price, you couldn't complain much , but at least the manufacturer should provide a stronger stand like a metal stand. Cons: scratches easily, bulky plug, tight fit inside.

Pros: Light, sharp looking, easy to install, quiet, light is not too bright.
Comment:
The frame itself is lighter than what I am used to. Installing the hard drive was a snap. The blue light is not the kind that will keep you up all night long and doesn't flash when the hard drive is in use.The red frame does scratch easily and is hard to clean off. The AC plug is bulky and is not powerbar friendly. Overall a great unit and the fact that you can put an IDE or SATA drive in it is good.
