Antec MX-1 External Enclosure
Cons:- Big- My power adaptor was makign a high frequency noise
Pros:+ Silent, really+ Awesome look+ Engineered like no other enclosure+ Fast+ ESATA and usb Comment:
This is the best enclosure on the market. Mine didn't had a noisy fan at all, the build quality kis impressive, the hard drive is supported by gommets, the air flow is small but jsut enough to keep the drive cool. The blue LED doesn't flash in your eyes when the disc is accessing, you can barely see it in fact. |

Antec MX-1 External Enclosure
Cons:fan is not super quiet (but you can unplug it), this thing is rather large.
Pros:silicon grommets (like the sonata case), pleasant design, esata & usb (new and old computer friendly) Comment:
well, it worked like a charm with a wd3200ks drive and is super quiet. however, i did unplug the fan to make it so. If i were more clever, i might solder in a thermistor. even with the fan removed it doesn't have a problem overheating, ther is plenty of ventilation.overall a great external case if quiet and esata are your key desired features.caveat emptor: esata & plug and play are not really synonymous. be prepared for a bit of tweaking on your machine in the bios settings - but it's worth the 3gb/s transfer speed.two suggestions to antec (if you're out there.)1. make it smaller (or a little bigger so you can swap out the fan for a quieter one)2. make the fan run based on temperature - hard drives don't need to stay subzero. |

Antec MX-1 External Enclosure
Cons:None
Pros:Nicely built and attractive unit. Fan is a must for an external hard drive that is running 24x7. Comment:
Fan is quite quiet. Installing the hard drive was pretty easy. The hardest part was getting a couple of shorter screws back in to the case when reassembling it. Other than that it has been performing quite well. |

Antec MX-1 External Enclosure
Cons:HDD install not straight forward. On/Off switch mounted on rear. Fan failed after 6 weeks
Pros:External SATA and USB 2 cables included in box. Quiet for the first 6 weeks Comment:
Not as easy to install HDD. My 500gig Western Digital ran fairly "hot to the touch" when I put my hand on the outside of the box. (it was mounted upright and not falt on my desk) Biggest problem the fan noise that started after 6 weeks use. It's not a standard fan and unit needs to be RMA'd for replacement back to USA unless it fails in first 30 days in which case NCIX will do RMA. |

Antec MX-1 External Enclosure
Cons:Price, size
Pros:Cooling, performance Comment:
Best enclosure on the market, period. Runs near silent and keeps my Seagate 7200.10 500 gig at ~28*C under load. A bit of a PitA to install the drive (unless you have tiny hands). Fantastic overall. |

Antec MX-1 External Enclosure
Cons:the size is a little big however its not that big of a deal
Pros:good cooling, pretty quiet, looks nice, it includes all the cables Comment:
Its easy and fast to install with step by step instructions, but the tight space inside makes putting the screws back in difficult. None the less, overall its a good buy. |

Antec MX-1 External Enclosure
Cons:-eSATA bracket is a tight squeeze in an Antec Sonata II case (probably the case's fault)-eSATA hotplugging support is dicey (depends on SATA controller and OS version)-Enclosure and external power brick combined are a bit bulky-Screws that secure the drive bracket in the enclosure are hard to get at
Pros:-Very quiet-Looks good-USB hotplugging works perfectly-Cables, eSATA bracket, etc. included-If you don't like the LED, you can easily unplug it during hard drive installation Comment:
Installing the hard drive in the enclosure wasn't especially difficult (although it did require some deft screwdriver work), and the USB worked perfectly (cable included). It's inaudible over my computer, which is already fairly quiet.Getting the eSATA working may be tricky, although I've only tried it on Ubuntu. Thus far I've meddled with /etc/fstab and switched my motherboard's SATA controller to RAID mode, and I think hotplugging is on the verge of working. Even if it doesn't, though, the USB works fine. Antec MX-1 External Enclosure
Cons:None so far
Pros:Everything the reviews had said about it. Comment:
Assembled a WD 500gig hard disk to it with no problems. The instructions were clear and simple on how to add a hard disk. BUT beware, at first XP Pro did not see it, you have to make sure first that it is enabled in your Bios and second, using Computer Management to activate and format the drive. Then it will appear when you click on My Computer |

Antec MX-1 External Enclosure
Cons: the front bleue light ,hard to see
Pros: ventilation ,solid ,insolation, electronic well place, etc Comment:
i have a vantec, and a bytec, external HD and they don't compare to this product,THIS IS THE EXTERNAL HARDRIVE TO BUYPERIOD , |
I was having problems with some cheaper enclosures for a client and replaced them with 2 of these. They are working like clockwork. The case was a breeze to work with. The drives stay nice and cool.
