Cables To Go 16899 USB to DB25 IEEE-1284 Parallel Printer Adapter Cable
Cons:- none

Pros:- long cable- quality construction- works under Windows 7 64-bit
Comment:
I built a PC with a motherboard that lacked a parallel port however I still had a older laser printer with only a parallel interface. This adapter solved that issue nicely. I am running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. I did not need a driver to get it work work - auto-magically done by Win7. Port shows up as "USB001" with the description of "Virtual printer port for USB".

Limited capabilities
Comment:
A word of caution - on Canon BJC printers the cable doesn't allow the printer cartridge(either BW or colour) to be recognized between each other and the scanner cartridge isn't recognized either and doesn't function as a result.

Does not work well with plotters
Comment:
I cannot review this product for use with printers, but it doesn't work with plotters. Signal wasn't converted properly and caused my plotters to respond erratically on larger files. Very small, simple designs would work sometimes.

Great product!
Comment:
The HP laserjet 2100 has an internal printer cable that is male. This was the only place I could find a female adapater.

Worked great the first time
Comment:
No problems to install, even for me. My ancient Laserjet 4L works wonderfully with this cable, which is plugged into the hard-wired printer cable on the back of this rather ancient but great machine. Could not find a female end plug locally. Ordering online seems to be the only way to get one.

It works perfectly.
Comment:
This cable is basically an adapter, and could just as well be 6 inches as 6 feet. You plug it into your computer (USB port) and plug your OLD printer cable into the other end, the (female) parallel port. Windows XP immediately detected my HP 1100 which is printing for me as reliably as before. It couldn't have been easier

Cables To Go 16899 USB to DB25 IEEE-1284 Parallel Printer Adapter Cable
Comment:
Always female? I don't think so. Right now I have in front of the the cable for an HP LaserJet 2100, and it definitely is MALE...

Cables To Go 16899 USB to DB25 IEEE-1284 Parallel Printer Adapter Cable
Comment:
Note as mentioned in the discription, this product connects to your existing printer cable, not to the printer, so precious review is incorrect. The Female end will easily connect to your printer cable and then will be long enough to be useful.

Cables To Go 16899 USB to DB25 IEEE-1284 Parallel Printer Adapter Cable
Comment:
Whoever designed this product did not know much about printers (or maybe they did). Parallel ports on a printer are always female. Why would you design a cable with a female on it!! Is it so that they can also sell a gender changer?
