Crucial M5 CT120M500SSD1 2.5in 128GB SATA 6BPS 7MM Internal Solid State Drive
Cons:Slow write speeds, the Crucial M550 is better at the same price.

Pros:The Best Power Loss protection and a good price k $89 on sale.
Comment:
Crucial drives are the only ones with capacitors to protect from inadvertent shutdowns, or so they say. Performance (READ 540MB/s; WRITE 130.8MB/s; Latency .04ms)Also note that Crucial doesn't provide any SSD software to inspect your drive or apply firmware. You can apply firmware by downloading an ISO, boot your system with that and apply firmware, but that's it.The "capacitor thing" sold me.I did have a Crucial drive, C300 2.5" 60GB, that stopped booting Windows. It gave a "Boot disk error" or something. I was still able to copy ALL DATA off the SSD by plugging the C300 in another system, then apply firmware and re-install Windows OS on the C300. It seems good so far, and no "weird stuff" happened during the OS install and for a few days after that I set things up.I hope this experience helps someone.Bill

Crucial M5 CT120M500SSD1 2.5in 128GB SATA 6BPS 7MM Internal Solid State Drive
Cons:120GB version loses 8GB over M4 due to OP. Label is still on the "wrong side"

Pros:faster than the M4, reliable track record, thin 7mm
Comment:
boot drive for a budget mitx gaming build based on a i5-4570. Too many games to fit on a 240GB version and the 480GB version is way beyond my current budget for this build. I've had the previous generation M4 on two different machines and they have been rock solid for the past 2 years plus. The tired but trusty M4 is no longer available but Crucial has predictably provided a worthy successor in the form of the M500 series. It's noticeably faster than the M4 and reviews and feedback have been favorable for the M500. It is not necessarily the fastest drive but is a good mid-range SSD (speedwise)with an excellent pedigree. The thinner (7mm) format allows it to be installed in laptops and ultrabooks. It also comes in a plastic spacer that will provide a snug installation when replacing 9mm 2.5 drivesoverprovisioning yields 8GB less than the similar M4 but that's ok since this drive will only contain the OS and some apps while the games and other files will still be on a mechanical hard drive. I still question why Crucial choses to place their nice blue label on what is normally the "underside" of the ssd.

Cons:None at this time

Pros:Light weight, low price, fast
Comment:
Was used to replace a failing HD in a 2 year old Mac Book Pro i7 13 inch. Highly recommend the install of an SSD in a laptop like this. The increase in performance was significant. I expect battery life will also be increased but have not had an opportunity to test.
