D-LINK DIR-645 Whole Home Router 1000 11NG 300Mbps NAT SPI WPA/WPA2 4PORT
Cons:-cd install software would not work-one crash during setup-2.4 band only; not as fast for close range
Pros:-good looking enough to have out in a room-signal is solid-price is reasonable for quality-d-link software is finally becoming quite full-featured-good if you need a bit of extra boost through walls |

D-LINK DIR-645 Whole Home Router 1000 11NG 300Mbps NAT SPI WPA/WPA2 4PORT
Cons:Setting it up with a Telus modem was challenging.
Pros:Works great! Comment:
Bought the router to stream video to my TV, with a Trendnet Gaming Adapter for the far end. The link to the TV is solid. Never a problem. Connecting it to my Telus Gigaset SE567 wasn't easy though. Telus hides the page to set the device in bridge mode so it took a while to set it up properly. |

D-LINK DIR-645 Whole Home Router 1000 11NG 300Mbps NAT SPI WPA/WPA2 4PORT
Cons:Doesn't come in different colours/finishes. Auto-channel selection of wifi went to channel 1 which matched my microwave frequency so I had to change channel selection to manual.
Pros:Compact design. Internal Antennas. Comment:
I replaced an old Dlink 625 with this one. The smart beam technology did add 1 extra bar of signal which reduced the likelihood of sudden disconnects. |

VPN: DIR-645
Was reluctant to buy D-Link again after getting a rather crappy D-Link router with poor signal and fake dual-band last time. However, the smart beam technology was appealing due to the location of one computer at the edge of my network range. It seems to work fairly well... doing slightly better than the wireless G network that I had. Was hoping for more given that it's N, but at least it's something. The setup software repeatedly gave up when trying to set up the network. No idea why - it gave no real feedback. Just ditched it and set things up manually, and it mostly went fine. Changing both the admin and user router passwords (which should be the first step given the router viruses going around now) resulted in a hang. Thought it was bricked, but powering down and up brought it back and was able to at least change the admin password. Outside of the software issues, has worked well.
