Fractal Design Core 1000 mATX Computer Case
Cons:the use of thin aluminium confers the feel of a tin can. With a power supply mounted the case becomes rather top heavy and can be easily toppled on the side where the drives are mounted.

Pros:small and light, above average build quality, entire front is covered by nice-looking mesh, adequate cooling of a mid-range system with Radeon HD6670
Comment:
A perfect budget case for testing a new mATX motherboard, but I would not trust expensive components to it long term. It would be better if either the drives were bottom-mounted, or the power supply be moved to the empty front bottom.

Fractal Design Core 1000 mATX Computer Case
Cons:Could have had more simple options thrown in there, like holes on the backplate for cable management/heatsink installation.

Pros:Great minimalistic design. Smart design allows many things to fit within a compact space.
Comment:
I am very impressed with this case. It's built thin but that's expected from a $40 case. It's what Fractal Design did with their budget that impressed me. It comes with a 5.25" > anything else bracket adapter, along with a 3.5" mesh face plate for the front. It has space for two hard drives and the mount sideways, perpendicular to the floor. The hard drive mounting wall can be removed if you decide to only have one drive and use the bracket to install it in the 5.25" bracket adapter. Even without removing the hard drive mounts, you can easily fit very long cards in there. I was able to get a 5970 to fit and that's just over 12". Definitely a tight fit but she's in there. It comes with only one fan and it's at the front of the case. It has two more fan mounts, one at the back and one on the door. There could have been more on the door and at the bottom of the case. If the PSU mounted on the bottom, there could have easily been space for two 120/140mm fans at the top. Overall, very impressed with the case. I don't feel like any of the cons of this case take away from its value and design. If you want mATX, full sized power supply and the ability to fit big parts in a case, this is one of your best options.

Fractal Design Core 1000 mATX Computer Case
Cons:Screw threads can strip very easily.

Pros:Cheap and looks nice.
Comment:
Simply put; you get what you pay for. Good for a simple build but not a good case if you intend on keeping it for a while. The screw threads will eventually strip from installing and re-installation components. Other than that you can't really complain since it is inexpensive.

Fractal Design Core 1000 mATX Computer Case
Cons:Numerous design flaws.

Pros:Affordable. Solid.
Comment:
I shouldn't have to mod a case for a boring ol' office PC, but that's exactly what I had to do with this case. The Asus Z68 board would not fit in due the the edge of the board rubbing up against the 5.25" bay cage. I had to use a metal nibbler in order to get the motherboard in. Then the SATA power cables from the powersupply, most of which are vampire-tap type these days, caused quite a bit of pressure on the HDD's PCB with the door on... I had to use some additional spacers on the HDD to relieve the pressure. And then there's the filter aspect: it's clearly designed to be an under pressure design to take advantage of the full face front filters, but including no filter for the side fan somewhat defeats the purpose.Overall, it's a decent case once modified... but system builders should pass this one up for something a bit more hassle-free.

Fractal Design Core 1000 mATX Computer Case
Cons:Only room for 3 HDD's total or 4 SSD's (stated in product description though)

Pros:Great sizeSturdy BuildLots of roomEasy to install hardwareIncluded 5.25" bay adapter (allows 2.5" or 3.5" SSD or HDD install)Included 5.25" to 3.5" front bezel (if you want to use a media card reader, etc.)

Definitely recommend a 90 mm exhaust fan though. The top mount PSU will double as a exhaust as well.

Fractal Design Core 1000 mATX Computer Case
Cons:Front fan is a bit noisyNo cutout for cooler back plate.Vertical HDD mounts can get in the way of video cards

Pros:CompactRubber HDD mountsLots of space for a little caseGood build quality
Comment:
Purchased this case to build a little home server. I am very impressed with what I got for under $40. There are 2 rubberized HDD mounts (3 if you use SSD). Note that because of the way the HDD's are mounted they may interfere with video cards coolers, heatpipes, or side mounted power connectors. Luckily for me, I'm not putting any video cards in this machine so it will work just fine. The case is well built, there is decent room for air flow, but the included case fan was a bit noisy for my tastes. All-in-all I think it would be hard to beat this case for the price.
