GIGABYTE Radeon HD 7850 GV-R785OC-2GD Video Card
Cons:- Barebones accessories - 570 GTX or 560 Ti 448 more powerful for same price- Connectors poorly placed for DVI or VGA adapters- ATI Catalyst Control Center drivers might not work without a registry hack to force the use of the latest version of .NET framework
Pros:- Cool and quiet- Enough power to run Battlefield 3 j1680 x 1050 comfortably- Open heat sink fan design |
Got this card to replace a Galaxy GTX 570 that was running to hot in my system. The Pitcairn GPU's are 28nm and run really cool. Idle at 40 degrees, and touch 60 under load. The GTX 570 was idling at 60 and going into the mid to high 80's under load, crashing as a result. There has been a lot been said about AMD's HD 7000 series performing poorly in Battlefield. The driver's have improved, and it runs well and it doesn't crash like my GTX 570.The package is barebones, so don't expect extras. If you want a dual monitor setup make sure you have a dvi monitor and another that supports HDMI or displayport. Dual-monitor setups with VGA monitors are difficult because there is not enough space for an adapter.
