Comment:
Purchased this result in I have a MBP and a windows PC and needed a lot more KVM ports for working on other peoples computers, the fact I can switch keyboard/video/mouse to another machine but leave the audio playing on my MacBook is Great, I really like my tunes and got annoyed everytime I was working on someones PC and the audio would switch too... that is an good KVM feature and I hop a lot more manufactures take note, for a music lover who needs a KVM, this one is it the hotkeys are good (but not effortless), I wish it just had basic external PC 1-four buttons at times on the front, since explaining to my gf what keys to hit to switch computers is not as simple as saying, hit button ş, lol

Appears to be well produced. Absolutely nothing. I thought I would like not having manual switching, if I had to do it once more I would invest in one that did have manual switching.

Connect it and it works. Contacted tech support. Very quick answer and answer. (Turned out the issue was on my end) Had a KVM switch as soon as, don't recall the brand, that beeped when ready for a switch. That was a good feature which this 1 lacks.

Bought by way of NewEgg. Functions with mixed enviroment. Dell Laptop, IBM laptop, Popwer Mac G3 and Pc Desktop computers. Switches speedily employing the familier Scroll Lock/Scroll Lock/Enter hot key. Operating 1920x1200 and no ghosting visible. My old IoGear two port KVM did have a issue with ghosting. So this is an improvment. Only minor quibbles:- LED indicator can be difficult to read at an angle, as the light leaks to the unlit indicater above or beneath the lit 1.-My Mac appears to will need the KVM set to the MAC when booting (old Power Mac G3) or else I do not get video.-Numbers on faceplate are tiny and low contrast, difficult to read. I guess in time I will memorize which is which. Now, I kinda wish I got the 8 port, my work is thinking of giving me but yet another laptop :-o

A good, reliable KVM switch. I haven't bothered understanding all the important combinations. I just use the simple toggle to scroll by means of all my connected computers. I replaced my original keyboard with one which did not have a scroll lock key. I was unable to map a new toggle sequence, so I basically bought a keyboard with a scroll lock. Items I've learnedɅ. If you are still using a PS-2 keyboard, strategy on finding a usb keyboard to go with this. They don't play good together. Not even with a ps-2 to usb adapter.two. If you have to re-install the OS on any connected Computer (whether Windows or Linux) you ought to disconnect the Computer from the KVM and do the install in a stand-alone scenario. Otherwise, negative juju will ocur. Computer won't bear in mind custom display or mouse settings right after rebooting.

I love getting able to jump in between computers very easily and getting able to leave the audio at a different laptop or computer is awesome. never ever had any vertical line problems that some less costly KVM's have either! Regrettably my Logitech G15 has grow to be a rather big desk weight. In contrast to more affordable Tr***net kvm's this 1 will not let my keyboard's macro or LCD function at all. It is for this reason that I gave it 4 eggs. All in all a excellent KVM for a tech bench, server cluster, etc. Not so good for any kind of customizable or 'gaming' keyboards or mice.

Small footprint, clean style; don't have a Mac Mini, just liked the style. I like the truth that two cables are removable to lower clutter when not in use. Shared audio is awesome since now I can listen to music from the server and work on my laptop. Plug and play, began right up with Win 7, XP and Ubuntu. Utilizing wireless Logitech keyboard and mouse combo. All around superior get. No switch buttons...would be nice added feature. Some slightly longer cable alternatives. They have them for other switches, not this. Wires for 1 PC required at least 16ft reach. Bought low-cost USB and audio extensions and high excellent SVGA to make it function - not from IOGear. Still works good w/added extensions although. Why no make inputs 1 + two the hardwired instead of 1 and four - slightly odd. Also, the indicator lights when not viewed straight on are confusing. I can see the lights from the bottom level thru the top level, very annoying when it looks like one personal computer is on-line, but is not operating.IOGear does not "officially" assistance wireless keyboard and mouse setups with the KVM, but mine functions pretty properly.

Plugged it in and it operates fantastic. A plus is the capability to leave the sound on one machine and go to a different with keyboard and mouse. It claims to assistance wireless keyboard and mouse which I have not tried but It calls for 3 keyboard presses to switch. Certainly not a big deal, just a matter of obtaining applied to. My old 1 had a separate button which took receiving used to. Not sure if I prefer that. Yet another button therefore an additional wire is a discomfort. Keyboard switching is better.

Comment:
All cables are included; two are attached for PC1/PC4, two are detachable for PC2/PC3; effectively created "clean" appear; switches audio too; all-in-1 cables (audio and USB run in the VGA cable); 1 USB connection for both keyboard and mouse on client PCs (two for console). Bigger than some consumer KVMs - about the size of a cable modem or router; two sides have to be clear for cable connections - would have been perfect if all cables attached to rear; compatibility problem with new keyboard; obscure reference to blinking caps lock/scroll lock lights. Plugged in my new Logitech G110 and got scroll lock/caps lights blinking erratically. Changed to a std USB keybd and got scroll lock/caps lights blinking back and forth in time like strobes on a police cruiser and couldn't switch ports. Located a reference on the net pointing back to the manual where this indicates it is in hot key mode to alter assignments. Just hit ESC and all is properly. Still wouldn't perform with the Logi G110 for anthing except switching ports. However no port switch button.

Incredibly easy to use and configure.Nonslip feet prevent cables from pulling it onto the floor.Slick and stylish, quite effortless on the eyes.Audio switch is good, though I rarely use it personally.Powered by the USB, which is a key plus! If I power on one of my PCs with out that PC becoming selected in the KVM as the active one, the OS (XP Household) can turn into confused, limiting resolutions offered. In some situations, reboot may well be required to right. At 1080p resolution 񢈀 x 1080) there is noticable streaking across the monitor (particularly noticable on black/dark locations). This occurs regardless of which PC is active, and does not happen when KVM is removed. This streaking occurs most reliably when two PCs are set at 1080p resolution (worse on port 2 than port 1) If 1 PC is changed to lower resolution, streaking diminishes significantly or disappears entirely on other port. Unknown if this would happen at even greater resolutions, and lack the hardware to test. I very advocate this model more than the other 4 Port USB KVMs.Fantastic Cabling. Two are removable. Good engineering on cable management.Stereo Switching is amazing.I didn't believe the sound switching was critical but it saves channels on my stereo receiver.Great Hot Keys. Compatible with MX3200 with Ctrl Ctrl Enter. No manual switching. Every thing is accomplished via hot keys.Manual switching isn't essential unless troubleshooting is required. Pay an additional 20 for this desktop model more than the other IOGEAR four Port KVM. It will be worth it.

Incredibly responsive. Keyboard switching really works really properly. I do not mind it at all. I have utilized it to set up computers (MAC and PC) and have no concerns. Cable length is much more than sufficient. The switch has been a pleasant suprise. Newegg's shipping is excellent None My principal personal computer is a laptop, which is attached for a dual monitor impact. And I use the other ports for computers that I am working on, (setting up)

This has worked flawlessly for me since 10ቺ񳏇.It switches among Mac Mini, XP PC, XBox 360, and the 4th is employed for PCs that people today bring over to have worked on. It hasn't failed once. There are cool alternatives that will not be obvious unless you read the manual. Incredibly full-featured. I use it for switching each day, several times per day. none. The only things that could ruin a user's expertise with this item would be a funky USB port on 1 of the computers and failure to read the manual. Back in the day we could figure items out with no manuals. This has Numerous advanced capabilities that you will not know about without having reading the manual. I Really like when a product works so nicely.

nice design, detachable cables, good cables, quickly switching, audio feature is cool Bought Sept 2007, has worked fine until recently. My Vista machine occasionally locks up and a difficult reboot is vital as well as detaching the keyboard/mouse from the unit and hooking up directly to vista pc. When keyboard/mouse connection is made directly to vista pc and is recognized, I can plug them back into the KVM. I get a lockup like this about when a week. I have this connected to a Vista pc and XP SP3 pc, both are Dell. The XP machine has never had a dilemma.

Great cosmetic look. That's it. Does not function with typical devices and IOGear does NOT tell you about it anyplace in the user manual, on the box, or on their internet web page. Customer service is the worst and denies responsibility. RMA is very difficult to acquire if you can ever push it through. DO NOT Buy THIS IOGEAR Product. I purchased the KVM switch and wanted to use it with my pc that has "DVI-D" connection. I'm using a DVI-D Adapter to convert to VGA connection. The image turns out to be very blurry right after trying all 4 ports and all 4 cables. Yet I don't get the blurry picture problem if I use a separate, standalone VGA cable that connects directly to the personal computer. When I called IOGear Tech Support (so as they call themselves), the initial person (Ben) says it does not work with DVI-D connection even if you have an adapter. I asked him exactly where does it say that limitation on the box, in the user manual, or on your internet web site. He cannot prove it. He refused to issue an RMA. I asked for his supervisor, who then gave me the very same excuse. After spending 58 minutes of my time and threatened to call the President of the company, he gave in and issued an RMA. He also stated the item does not function with Laptop Docking Station. How would a customer know about these limitations if they are not disclosed anyplace??? Manufacturer Response:Initially of all, thank you for picking IOGEAR and sorry for getting the trouble making use of our GCS634U. In order to support troubleshooting your setup, initially of all, I want to ask what you mean by "use it with my computer that has 'DVI-D' connection"? Do you mean you have a DVI connection on your video card? Typically video cards are DVI-I which the I stands for integraded meaning it supports each DVI-D (Digital) and DVI-A (Analog) signals. If your personal computer only supports DVI-D as you have mentioned, then GCS634U will not function mainly because your computer is sending out a digital signal; however, GCS634U makes use of VGA (analog signal). In that case I would suggest you use our GCS1764, which is a DVI KVM switch. Also, considering that the KVM does have a three Year Warranty, please really feel no cost to contact our 24ǝ support team at 1龢) 946-4327 and they will certainly be able to assist you and we will be glad to help you to approach the RMA if the cause of the blurry screen is caused by the GCS634U.

I've owned numerous KVMs over the years ƒ to four ports), and this has to be the finest that I've owned. It's slim style let's you spot it just about anyplace and it's out of the way. I have 3 systems at present connected to it, 1 Windows XP, 1 Windows Vista, and 1 Linux, and I've had no issues with it on any of them. It's quite handy to be able to switch to a certain system without getting to go via every single of them, 1 by one, like I've had to do with some other ones. It would be good to have a selector button, but it's not terrible getting to hit the scroll lock twice then witch method you want to connect to, but would be more convenienent to have a button selector as effectively. Getting two of the four cable challenging wired into it is a bit frustrating. If one thing should occur to 1 of them, there is no way of replacing them. The other two are not that way, so why have any of them difficult wired? All in all, this is an outstanding KVM for the cost. Manufacturer Response:Thank you for deciding upon IOGEAR and we are glad that you like our KVM. As for the selector button that you recommend, we do have a lot of KVMs that come with a switch button or pushbuttons on KVMs, for example, our GCS24U is 1 of them. On the difficult wire suggestion, all of our desktop version of KVMs have seperate KVM cables. I would suggest you take a appear at our GCS1734, that unit has all the feature on GCS634U with extra microphone support, pushbutton on unit, two USB peripheral sharing ports and of course, they seperated KVM cables. That may well be a good selection for you to address your concerns. If you have any suggestion or question, please feel no cost to get in touch with our 24ǝ tech support at 1龢) 946-4327, they will be glad to help you and forward your suggestion to our engineers. When once more, thank you for picking IOGEAR.

worked with no difficulties as soon as it was hooked up with all cables 1-4.three Linux systems (CentOS, Fedora and SuSE) and FreeBSD. Considerably greater than the two KVMs utilised here previously: no leaning over to push buttons/twist knobs every time I want to switch. Simply push <ScrollLock> <ScrollLock> <Enter> and the next system is connected. one dual-boot box has a incredibly old Linux (Fedora Core 1) which doesn't see the USB connection at all; only video is working on that one box. Thankfully, the other OS in there is FreeBSD 5.two and it works perfectly. F have not hooked up sound at all; dunno if that works but who cares. I just use direct spkr conx to one box where I have speakers/Rhythmbox running.
