MASSCOOL XWT-GHQ04 IDE to SATA Convert

What a POS! I tried several times to use this device to plug in my old HD in order to save valuable info. Short story ... I ended up frying my brand new mobo (M3N78 PRO). There goes a hunnert plus bucks down the crapper. I read all the previous reviews and tips but to no avail. I'm NOT a happy camper! The ''star'' rating,unfortunately, does not include minuses .. otherwise it would suck a lot worse!

Worked right out of the box,just plug it in and go. Just build a new system and need to adapt HDD & DVD's from old system. recognized DVD's immediatly, took a little more time with HDD's but did what it claims. The price isn't bad compared to having to purchase new drives. Simply to use place adapter in back of drive, power drive and adapter with plug provided your good to go.

I bought this for an old lite on dvd drive I had. I plugged it in and the pc recognised it right away. Works great so far. I am ordering another one today for another drive. If it doesn't work I will let you know. No problem with the first one. DjRoY

Two different devices on three different computers, absolutely does NOT work. As stated before do NOT waste your $$$ on this device! No directions, plain could not get it to work!! If there were a minus 25 stars, that would be my rating!!!

Don't believe what these other people are saying about this item. Obviously they don't know how to read the box. You don't need instructions because it's self explanatory, you just plug it into the IDE port of the IDE device and plug it into the SATA. Make sure you also plug in the power to the IDE device and the Bridge card. I got this converter board and worked fine right out of the box doing just what the box said, just plug it in!

I added this to a motherboard on a computer that I built for my brother. The motherboard only has one IDE socket on it and the HDD and 2 CD drives are all IDE drives. This little mini bridge works great if you set it up properly. I read the other reviews and did what other people had said worked for them. It did not come with any real instructions but I hooked it up and set the CD-ROM to master as one of the other reviews said to do and it works great. I have no complaintes with this product so far. Good value for the money. Thanks TigerDirect for another good product.

Its cheap. It works good. No need for special drivers. You need to make sure the drive is set to master and has its own power, cut the round foam spacer so that it is only think enough to prevent the solders from touching the drive, make sure the parallel plug is not off by a pin(its not as wide as a parallel ata cable's plug) and plug in the fdd power cable and sata cable. It just works.

What a piece of junk! No instructions worth having- tech support is useless ( don't speak english) connectors don't fit ( I think I was supposed to connect a FDD power connector to the board- doesn't fit) Even after many contacts with tech support doesn't work- save your money- a real piece of Chinese junk!

This item does not come with any instructions that help whatsoever in its use. Besides that it seems to be working fine up to this point. I have tested it on 2 IDE hard drives and am currently using it on an IDE CD/DVD drive. Keep in mind you do need a 4 pin power adapter, like that used on a 3.5 floppy, so If you dont have one accessible buy an adapter and or splitter. Also, I ''think'' you need to set the drive you use it on as a PRIMARY/MASTER via the jumpers or it seems to stall. Like I said, no instructions so this was found out with trial and error.

Haven't been able to make this thing work yet. As advertised, it doesn't say the in addition to powering the IDE device with the usual power cable, this converter also requires power from a floppy drive power cable (not mentioned in the product description as necessary, nor is one included). Additionally, there are no useful instructions included with the part. It also mentions a couple of LEDs which I cannot find on the board and did not function. They are sending me two power cables (who has spare floppy drive power cables?) so we'll see if it works and if the invisible LEDs light up. Despite the earnest attempt of customer service to help, I can't say anything good about this product as I received it. If it works it would be a good value, but not at this time.
