Often small equipment comes with 40mm fans to get some airflow moving. That is the case with my DVICO media player and even my lights on the aquarium. The stock fans on both pieces of equipment were loud and really didn't move much air. Replacing them with these fans took care of both issues. My media player doesn't seem to provide a lot of voltage when starting up and the fan doesn't start spinning right away. It eventually does start up - I think the media player ramps up voltage based on temps. |

I recently bought this fan to replace the PSU fan in a SAS Storage Expander I have in my living room. I needed something super quiet, as the stock fan ran at 10K RPM, and sounded like a hair dryer at full speed.This fan delivered. It's essentially silent (I cannot hear it without opening the case up), and still pumps a good amount of air through the system.There are not a lot of 40mm fans out there to choose from, so I was exceptionally pleased to find that Noctua had one available. Noctua make some of the very best fans of any size.This fan is a bit pricey, but it's worth the cost to get the best performance without compromising on audible noise levels. I highly recommend this fan to anyone who needs a silent 40mm fan. |

Replaced rear stock 30mm fan on my Asus sabertooth Z77 board with this fan. The stock fan's were driving me nuts, can always hear them whining. Once I replaced the rear with one of these I cant hear a thing anymore. Does it's job and very quiet at it. Had to modify the mounting bracket for the 40mm fan that came with motherboard for some reason the fan wouldn't fit just right.Would highly recommend! love these fans, bought 2 to cool chipset for a fx970 board i use in an htpc (so not much cooling) and to replace the stick fan on a raid card which was way too loud. keeps things really quiet and cool and the option to replace connectors is exactly what all these mini fans need, it's perfect.
