N/A DOA - But spent a weekend attempting to make it function.I was carrying out a clean install of Win 7 64bit on a Dell XPS 420 w/ integrated Intel ICH9R controller.I followed install directions (checked firmware rev on drive, changed BIOS settings as recommended...). When the new Agility drive was connected it showed in BIOS, Win7 install began but would go no further than the choose drive for installation. The OCZ appeared but windows could not use it (format it). Searching at the OCZ forums it seemed the challenge was the drive controller driver so I eventually tried every single driver I could find with no luck. After hours of seeking over OCZ forum posts and net searches (there are many OCZ buyers with similar complications) and trying solutions recommended nonetheless no luck.I tried a std. disk drive it worked with no difficulty. Known as Newegg for RMA this morning - they had been great - they will send return RMA like shipping label. Will try an Intel X25 drive next (a quick search shows fewer DOA reports on Newegg)Note - OCZ install directions / help is thru their forum and Wiki. If you like searching thru 100s of posts containing differing views/methods/ideas - this is excellent. If you like clear concise directions, difficulty shooting approaches etc - this is no very good at all. Manufacturer Response:Hello, we are sorry for the problem. We are happy to know that Newegg has taken fantastic care of you. Whilst our customers can appear by means of the information on our support forums and Wiki, they also have the selection of posting on our forums to get personalized consideration.Thank youExternal Link(s): OCZ Help Forums|

On par/ superior than other individuals in this classReasonably pricedAmple storage capacity for OS drive For the price tag:Could have been packaged better, though these are incredibly resilient to handling/shipping. It ships in a padded envelope in a thin paper/cardstock box about the size of a CD situation. Could have included a SATA cable This drive met my expectations and I was incredibly satisfied with the real planet performance. I use this on my function Pc and it holds my OS and standard programs. Outlook 2010 with incredibly massive pst files and xobni add-on loads outlook completely in five seconds. (outstanding!)

Really Rapidly Pricey I popped this drive into my Macbook the other day and compared its boot up speed to a new Macbook Air and I certainly like the outcomes. It takes about a half second longer also boot up than the air, regardless, it's undoubtedly quickly.

Insanely rapidly. I have Snow Leopard 64-bit, 26GB of music, and Adobe Master Collection on right here with 66.5GB to spare. Value, like all SSDs. five-ten years from now when they will be insanely affordable. I can't wait to raid four 1TB SSDs. I have superior read/write speeds on my Intel Mac than I do my AMD Pc. My AMD read speeds averaged 175 and my Intel averaged 250. Despite the fact that you really can't notice the distinction efficiency wise.

Rapid read/write speeds. Load instances for apps/games drastically decreased. Bigger capacity leaves space for extra apps / games / and so forth. Not PCI-Ex quickly... also nevertheless a little pricey. Low-cost for SSD of this size/speed... but nevertheless high-priced compared to HDDs. Great for apps, but leave the personal information on the less costly, larger capacity HDDs for now.

will not purchase this drive now... maybe when they fix the firmware and the cost comes down to below 赨. On Anandtech's assessment of this hdd he noted that the week just before he had gotten a call from sandforce (the maker of the controller chip for this difficult drive). They mentioned that there was an issue with the 3..5 firmware (the retail launch firmware) that would cap the modest file transfer to SF1200 specs. It applies to all sandforce 1200 drives except the OCZ vertex2. Corsair shipped their drives with the 3..1 firmware and ocz didnt. The result ... 4k random write speed is 44MB/sec rather of 160MB like the others. obtain a sandforce 1500 chip ssd if you are really in the market for a single... THOSE dont have any difficulties

1.) Insanely speedytwo.) The greatest upgrade you can make at this point for overall performance3.) OCZ has alot of information base on its forums 1.) Drive shipped with old firmware which apparently caused some problems with the imaging software I was using and the BIOS/intel drivers of my install. This led to hours and hours of troubleshooting2.) No real definitive source of info on OCZ's forums. A bunch of stickies linking back to a variety of wiki pages and forum threads which can make troubleshooting...difficult3.) It didn't make coffee I do really feel somewhat silly with pulling the trigger in the past handful of weeks for 1 with Intel launching their new line soon and costs most most likely to plummet in the exact same size but...it was necessary for a develop. And overall was worth it

Quickly... whilst it lasted. Replacement drive has been running smoothly for a month. After owning the drive a few weeks and experiencing some strange behavior I was advised by OCZ to update the firmware. Followed OCZ's process specifically (booted to Parted Magic live CD), but the flash procedure killed the drive and all the information on it. Ok fine whatever, I'll just get a quick advanced exchange RMA appropriate? Nope! It took over 10 business days for OCZ to respond to my "advanced exchange" request, by which time my dead drive had currently been delivered to them. Then it took a different week for them to ship out the replacement. The replacement drive was slightly smaller than the original one, so I couldn't use my method image backup and had to reinstall every little thing from scratch. Total method down time: virtually one month! If I had returned it by means of Newegg I could have had the replacement next day instead of waiting nearly a month. The only reason I didn't feel of that was that I'd cut the UPC off the box to get the rebate (which had to be sent inside 21 days of the invoice date). I wonder if the rebates are a ploy to make it impossible to return drives to the reseller and have to go by way of the painfully slow RMA course of action.

Programs load considerably quicker than just before.(Actually a noticable distinction compared to some upgrades where you can only tell with benchmark sort tests. I'm upgrading from a normal old 7200rpm mechanical drive.) I'm debating obtaining a second one particular for some raid goodness. Can not flash the firmware if it's a boot drive.(removing an egg for this)Also I hope they aren't continuing with shipping the 25nm versions in the exact same packaging with lower usable capacity and lower efficiency.(I got lucky and got an old a single.)Cost: I'm hoping prices on SSD's continue to come down, if not SSD's will by no means genuinely be a viable selection for any bigger scale information holding.

This is a fantastic drive and loads my OS fast. Installation instructions should be clearer for the issue mentioned in the other thoughts beneath. I have observed concerns with this drive and Dell Machines (especially laptops). I initially had a challenge with my Dell E6400 due to the fact it would not let me alter from IRRT to AHCI (IRRT getting a powerful default). I reinstalled the OS following initially altering the SATA controller to AHCI in the BIOS and the installation went smoothly. It runs fine now.

Incredibly quickly and cool drive. Throughout the three-4 months it ran stably for me I loved it. Immediately after a couple of weeks of use I began getting spurious BSODs in Win 7. Each and every time I noticed the HDD light stayed on for about 20 seconds and then a hard technique crash. The Asus MB would not recognize the SSD without a total power down. I did a clean Win 7 install four weeks ago when the machine became inoperative. Soon after a couple of weeks began receiving BSODs again. Then last night I got one particular and upon reboot the MB does not recognize the drive at all. It is now totally dead. Doing the RMA route now and will see how excellent OCZ is, appears from reading they are good about it. Nevertheless if the replacement dies on me in less than three years I will no longer be a happy camper. One poor one particular I can fully grasp, if I get yet another I won't ever acquire a single again. Manufacturer Response:Hello, we aplogize for the difficulties. Quite, quite quickly - WEI of 7.7, absolutely silent (obviously) and nice and cool. I've had it for pretty much four months and it's showing no signs of slowing down.It was extremely basic to install in the Pc, I had no firmware problems and immediately after setting up my partition alignment (see Other Thoughts) the OS was no challenge to install.Programs load so rapidly - I in no way see the blue Windows 7 welcome screen on start out-up, it goes straight from the black Windows 7 logo screen to Outlook (which is in my Startup folder). Even my wife is impressed. Nevertheless costly per gigabyte (but the efficiency is such a leap forwards that it just about tends to make it worth it).two½" to 3½" bracket didn't fit my case, had to use a different one.Rebate took four months to come by way of! I've got Win 7 upgrade, so I had to manually set the partition alignment (not too tricky), install Win XP, then install the Win 7 upgrade more than the top rated.I was going to go for the Vertex two, but the Agility 2 was on a Shell Shocker deal and I don't regret obtaining it.

Extremely rapid reads. Boot occasions and application load times are noticeably lower. It came with a three.five" mounting bracket and a cool sticker. Still too high-priced with out some sale, rebate, or promotion. Sequential writes are still a bit slow. I don't feel I could go back to making use of a HDD for my major OS partition.

Apparent:Light, Tiny In Size & Quiet! My Comments:This component has been the single biggest boost in speed out of every little thing. If you're going to purchase a harddrive or create an additional laptop Get THIS FREAKING SSD! Minor: Mounting bracket didnt fit nicely in to my Coolermaster case and was a little confusing to use. I ended up generating it fit but spent way too much time with it. I purchased the 60 gig version and will acquire yet another 1 when the prices come down.

Functions well in my MacBook Pro (late 2008 edition). Came with 1 rev out of date firmware, but nonetheless runs actually fast. Straightforward to install if you have the proper tools(torx) and rapid restore from time machine backups. So far bootup speeds are quickly enough(few seconds soon after hardware POST) I just power down versus suspend most of the time. No noticable decline with use. Suspend to disk (aka suspend followed up by battery pull) doesn't work with the present firmware - corrupted disk image every single time. Outside that haven't had an other difficulties but DO preserve an active TM backup just in case (and have suspend to disk disabled - no point having the additional writes since it doesn't operate)Without a Windows Bootcamp partition, there is no way to do a firmware upgrade. I Really hope OCZ will ultimately give a bootable CDROM upgrade solution (PLEASE!?!?!?!?) Incredibly worthy upgrade, not entirely for the faint of heart, but gave new life to my trusty lappy. Would give five eggs if OCZ effectively supported OS X, which they *claim* but don't seriously do when it comes to firmware upgrades.

The drive was rapid when it was new, quiet and cool. Immediately after a few months this drive died on me, in an identical manner as others on here have reported. My pc started to BSOD a couple of occasions where the OS and apps would go unresponsive, it would thrash the hdd light for about 20 seconds, show the BSOD then reboot. Immediately after it died this a few occasions, lastly it stopped getting recognized in the BIOS. I purchased two of these at the very same time, one is in my wife's personal computer and this dead one in mine. I'm actually hoping hers does not suffer the similar fate, as it appears there was a bad batch of these possibly.
