The order arrived in the two - 3 days as promised. The memory does not work. I initially had a 256meg chip and a 512 meg chip installed, and anything worked fine. I installed this gig chip, boot up the technique, and the laptop or computer recognizes the additional memory. I cat /proc/meminfo and that reports the total memory correctly. About twenty minutes later, the pc freezes. I boot back up... identical issue - about 15 minutes soon after boot up, the pc freezes. I take out the 256 meg chip and place this 1 gig chip in its place. Boot up, and about twenty minutes later, the computer system freezes. I take out the 512 chip now, so that all that is installed is this one particular gig chip. This time, it took about 10 minutes and the computer system fell more than. I updated the bios, but that didn't bring about any noticable adjustments in the stability of the process. Also, all along, the bios would report the correct amount of memory as I altered it every single time. I took out the gig chip, put back in the original 256 and 512 chips, and the program is operating fine once more. :-/ Upset that the memory doesn't perform. I guess I'll be going back to Cxxxial for memory. I had thought at the worst, the other memory I had wouldn't function, and I'd seriously be spending the 50 or 60 bucks to improve the memory 256 megs... not the end of the planet. That didn't even perform. I'll be calling Newegg right now or Monday (are they open on the weekend?) to see what they say.
