Samsung 2494SW 24IN Widescreen LCD Monitor 1920X1080 16:9 5ms 50000:1DC VGA DVI-D HDCP
Cons:- wobbly stand- MagicTune doesn't work with Win7- No gamma adjustment in monitor menu- touch controls

Pros:- cheap- minimal calibration needed- thin bezel
Comment:
Inexpensive quality monitor from Samsung if you don't want to wait for the X2370 to come in. The colour reproduction is pretty good and little calibration is needed except for gamma which is too low. Unfortunately, they don't provide the option to in the monitor menu and their software doesn't work in Win7 x64 so you will have to use Windows' built in lcd calibration (which works great). The thin bezel is nice in case you are going for dual monitors (it's not the thinnest but in this price range, it's hard to beat it's combination). On the lower part of the bezel is the monitor's neat touch controls which will become a curse later on. They are virtually unusuable in low-light situations because you can't see the labels where the controls are. The area is completely flat so you can't get a feel for where they are either.Other than that, the stand is a bit wobbly (y/z axis wobble) but it is cheap enough to overlook this fact (not to mention most stands in this price range are like this).

Samsung 2494SW 24IN Widescreen LCD Monitor 1920X1080 16:9 5ms 50000:1DC VGA DVI-D HDCP
Cons:low stand, annoying indicator light, difficult to use controls, poorly thought out software installation

Pros:Inexpensive, large, good picture, comes with both VGA and DVI cables
Comment:
Distracting bright blue indicator light annoying when viewing video in darkened room. Light blinks on and off like a strident warning light when computer is turned off, requiring the monitor to be turned off manually to avoid the look that something is wrong with the monitor when it is not in use.Power switch and on-screen display have no actual buttons, only a touch sensitive area of the monitor frame. "Pushing" a button requires stabbing or stroking a few times with your fingertip to find the right area to touch, and the right finger pressure to activate the control. Brush your finger over the wrong area and the monitor turns off. Using the on screen display is a bit like performing brain surgery using a razor blade Scotch-taped to the end of a fishing pole. The on screen display can be bypassed by installing the "Magictune" software which allows mouse control of the functions on the on-screen display - The supplied software is for Windows only. The software may be difficult to install by non-technical users. Autorun for the supplied CD starts up by showing an HTML page with a link which is supposed to install the software, but which only works if you are using Internet Explorer as a browser. The instructions say that if you are not using IE, you should double click on the CD drive and navigate to the Magictune directory to find the software install program - this of course doesn't work for the average user, as double clicking on the CD drive launches autorun rather than displaying the drive contents. When attempting to install Magictune or the "monitor driver", you are warned that the supplied software may not be up to date, and you are offered a "link to new version". The Magictune link goes to a page with the latest software, but the "monitor driver" link doesn't actually give you a web page where the new version is to be found, it simply gives you the front page of the Samsung web site, leaving it to the user to hunt through the site.In summary, a good, large inexpensive screen marred by a lot of "what were they thinking of?" bad design.

Samsung 2494SW 24IN Widescreen LCD Monitor 1920X1080 16:9 5ms 50000:1DC VGA DVI-D HDCP
Cons:-viewing angles aren't ideal but not bad-stand does the trick but isn't great

Pros:-1080p-good looking display
Comment:
I got this and it's big brother the 2494HM on the boxing day sale. Got me my triple 24" 1080p setup going. Its more or less identical to the 2494HM with the exception of the stand. The stand on the HM is amazing. But if you're looking to just set it on your desk and never touch it this monitor is for you. It looks great, its big, its inexpensive, and its high res. Unless you're looking to do graphics design, what more do you need.

1920x1080 definition possible with the VGA connection and a DVI adaptator. This fact was not mention anywhere.

Samsung 2494SW 24IN Widescreen LCD Monitor 1920X1080 16:9 5ms 50000:1DC VGA DVI-D HDCP
Cons:None that I can think of.

Pros:Huge Screen, Beautiful Colours, No dead Pixels, cheap price (got it for $200)
Comment:
I upgraded from a 17" 4:3, and it is a VAST upgrade. Surprisingly, my fps was nearly identical in games, which worried me since I can't upgrade my laptop.

Samsung 2494SW 24IN Widescreen LCD Monitor 1920X1080 16:9 5ms 50000:1DC VGA DVI-D HDCP
Cons:Non-height adjustable stand.

Pros:Bright, big, 1920x1200 pixels
Comment:
Although this is a decent monitor for the price, the stand I very much dislike. I am an idiot for buying this, as I bought it as a second monitor for my setup, and it is not height adjustable. Thus, it sits about 1.5 inches below my default monitor, which is height adjustable, but can only go up higher. I really regret not looking into this before purchase.

Cons:Is a basic no frills monitorHeight is too low, need to underpad it.

Comment:
I upgraded from a 19" 1440 x 900 LG Flatron. This monitor is nothing extra ordinary, but a good monitor that I am happy to have. Touch screen buttons are sort of an inconvenience, but I do not use them much, I typically set them up once and usually don't change the settings.
