Scythe SCKTN-3000 92mm Sleeve "KATANA3" 3Heat Pipes CPU Cooler
Cons:- what is that mystery mud?
Pros:- fairly small- quiet!- PM'd for under $20!! Comment:
Good little cooler. I purchased it for a basic build I am doing for my parents. Their requirements aren't that stringent, so heat isn't a big problem. Basically, I was going for something quiet and cool, both of which it does well. Heat levels are very low and I can't even hear the thing when I stick my head right next to it!! It does a great job!Only thing I can say is against the thermal grease... it comes in a package similar to what your ketchup comes in from a fast food restaurant... :S I decided to stick with some Arctic Cooling MX-2. |

Scythe SCKTN-3000 92mm Sleeve "KATANA3" 3Heat Pipes CPU Cooler
Cons:Might be too big and is a bit loud at the higher speeds.
Pros:Very quiet at the lower speeds and keeps my CPU cool. Comment:
Great for regular usage. I don't overclock so I wouldn't know if it is useful for overclocking or not. It works well for AM3 because it can point to the back of the case where the back exhaust fan will remove the heat. |

Scythe SCKTN-3000 92mm Sleeve "KATANA3" 3Heat Pipes CPU Cooler
Cons:None that I've found
Pros:QuietSolid constructionExcellent value Comment:
Bought this to replace the noisy stock cooler on a "bits & pieces" box that I'm using as a media center. It went from an obnoxious white noise generator to being so quiet I have to check that it's actually turned on... Realized a 10C improvement in cooling over the old heatsink to boot. |

Scythe SCKTN-3000 92mm Sleeve "KATANA3" 3Heat Pipes CPU Cooler
Cons:runs a little hot and gets noisy at high rpm's.
Pros:inexpensive and easy to install. Comment:
it's a nice little heatsink. You can install a 80mm fan on the other side for push pull which works quite well IMO. |

Scythe SCKTN-3000 92mm Sleeve "KATANA3" 3Heat Pipes CPU Cooler
Cons:None yet.
Pros:Fits mid tower case with room to spare, quiet, cool. Comment:
Overclocked Athlon II 630 d 3.7ghz idles at 25 deg C. Haven't pushed it hard yet but after running 3Dmark6 max temp was 40 deg. Used mystery mud that came with it - no problem. Nice that cooler is processor specific, not 'one fits all' with a box full of parts to adapt to your type of processor, so make sure you buy the right version. |

Scythe SCKTN-3000 92mm Sleeve "KATANA3" 3Heat Pipes CPU Cooler
Cons:none really
Pros:Cooling power is extremely good for the price. Comment:
This fan is absolutely the best budget option I have come across. I have a stable 3.8Ghz Phenom II X4 955BE with idle temps in the 30's and mid 50's under load. |

Scythe SCKTN-3000 92mm Sleeve "KATANA3" 3Heat Pipes CPU Cooler
Cons:none that I have found
Pros:Very efficient at low fan speeds, works very well, easy install. Fits multiple cpus Comment:
Nice little cooler for the price, used it on a I5 750 build. keeps temps low at idle 30 degrees and gaming > 55 degrees. I can cut the fan speed down to whisper quite with asus Motherboard software and it still keeps cpu temps to under 60 degrees. I would definitely buy this product again. lots of brackets include for other cpu's. at full speed you can hear the fan, but it is not loud to me |

Scythe SCKTN-3000 92mm Sleeve "KATANA3" 3Heat Pipes CPU Cooler
Cons:At this price ...your kidding right?
Pros:Price / works *very* well compatible with damn near any CPU Comment:
Installed this on an old high end system with S478 3.2GHz HT to replace an already modified stock cooler and saw a major improvement (4 degree drop overall) . I would recommend this to anyone. **opted to use MX-2 thermal grease over the mystery mud in the package** |

Scythe SCKTN-3000 92mm Sleeve "KATANA3" 3Heat Pipes CPU Cooler
Cons:None!
Pros:Cools my x3 720 easilyLooks nice Comment:
This is a wonderful CPU cooler. I have it on my x3 720 a 3.4ghz. Stays at 28 degrees. I'm positive I can raise it up MUCH higher if I raise the voltage, but I'm fine with 3.4ghz. It also looks really nice. |

Scythe SCKTN-3000 92mm Sleeve "KATANA3" 3Heat Pipes CPU Cooler
Cons:-push pins are hard to reach if motherboard is already installed-fan wire just barely made it to my PWN slot
Pros:-Affordable! I priced match this to 25$ :D-Cools very well (see below) Comment:
I was looking for a cheap and easy way to upgrade my stock cooling fore my core i7 c 3.2 Ghz. It was running at 84 degrees under full load folding (4 Vmare clients) and idling at around 27 degrees. After putting in this cooler, my temps are now 23 for idle and 51 degree for folding! 30 degree drop from a 25 dollar cooler, couldn't have been more happy! just look around for the best price and price match it. |

Scythe SCKTN-3000 92mm Sleeve "KATANA3" 3Heat Pipes CPU Cooler
Cons:Fan is loud at maxNot the most solid construction
Pros:SmallVery easy to installFits a ton of different socketsSilent at lower speeds Comment:
I was looking for a cheap heatsink to replace the noisy stock one on an old Intel P4 2.60GHz (S478 socket). This works great and is very easy to install. It has a large contact area (nickel, not copper) so you can just slap some paste on the CPU and set this down, knowing that it will fit. The fan is quite loud on max, as expected for a 92mm at a whopping 2800rpm, but silent at lower speeds. The Katana 3 is light by the standards of most of today's behemoths (about 480g), but comes at the price of rather flimsy material. The fins are easily bent by a bit of pressure and even the aluminum heatsink at the base can be deformed. This is really a non-issue though - once it is installed it is an excellent cooler. |

Scythe SCKTN-3000 92mm Sleeve "KATANA3" 3Heat Pipes CPU Cooler
Cons:-Fan at full speed is loud (relative term) due to dispersion through the headsink. Still quiet overall but when loading it is poor-CPU Fan cable may be to short for some boards
Pros:-Very easy to install, just put your sockets bracket on and use the stock mounting hardware (Pushpins for my LGA1366 install)-Very light for its performance output-Excellent lapping and overall build quality Comment:
Overall an excellent inexpensive stock Intel fan replacement. I am running my 920 at 3.5GHz at 1.2V and with that it is loading to 68c on the cores and 57-59c on the CPU die itself. All of this is with a rather quiet setup while being a LIGHT heatsink as I am not a fan of the giant break your socket out types of fans. Not the best performing heatsink by any means but is is holding its own quite well.Machine:ASUS P6T SEIntel Core i7 920 (on a Scythe cooler)G.Skill PC-1600 6 x 2GB (Great for cheap!)XFX 4970 1GB2 x 150GB Raptors RAID02 x 640GB WD RAID1 |

A worthwhile cooler especially on at sale price if you are not looking at insane overclocking. a previous unit I owned was able to run a X4 955 with healthy overclock. Looking to use this with X4 960 unlocked, decent performance and quiet. faces rear of case to work with exhaust fans. Thus purchase for second unit
