Sennheiser HD558 Open E.A.R Technology Open Circumaural Headphones 15-28000HZ 50 Ohm
Cons:-Canadian prices-1/4" -> 1/8" adapter

Pros:-Sound-Build quality-Comfort
Comment:
If you can get these on sale here for around $130, they are an amazing buy. To compare, if you have experience with lower-tier Grado products, these won't have that upper-mid sparkle, but they will be more detailed, have better bass, have an impressive build quality, and the comfort that you read about in all of the reviews. The only downside is the straight 1/4" to 1/8" adapter. WRT leverage, having that in your pocket attached to a device is asking for trouble.

Sennheiser HD558 Open E.A.R Technology Open Circumaural Headphones 15-28000HZ 50 Ohm
Cons:-Connector is huge for 3.5mm jack (already managed to bend it)

Pros:-Comfort-high range-responds well to EQ changes-3.5mm extension is replaceable-flexible long cable, feels like silicone and is quite soft
Comment:
This headphones are far more comfortable than my Audio Technica M50's that they replaced, I actually like how light they are, and I don't really mind the plastic. I like that the earcups can be raised or lowered to sit anywhere on your head, whereas my other pair of headphones never fit right. I did bend the connector on accident because it stuck so far out the front audio jack of my computer. Luckily it was just the adapter, which can be easily and cheaply replaced. Audio quality is good, base burn in improves the lower end much more than hearing it out of the box. I use an EQ to crank out more base, which the headphones seem to respond to quite well. These headphones really shine for mids and high vocals. They are very satisfying to wear for hours, as I listen to them for 8 hours straight at my computer, often even longer as I'm a gamer and coder at home, and a Power Engineer at work... so these see lots of use. So far so Good!

Sennheiser HD558 Open E.A.R Technology Open Circumaural Headphones 15-28000HZ 50 Ohm
Cons:Open air (no isolation)Too much plasticWill not play very loud without distorsionVery long cord (could include a shorter one)

Pros:Very ConfortableGood sound stageBass is OKPrice (got a nice deal)
Comment:
So far I really like them for the price I paid them ($160)I was hesitating between the HD 558 and the HD 598 but I didn't like the HD 598 color and the extra money didn't seem to give a big difference. I will also check for the HD 558 Mod too see if it worth it.The bass is ok but not as powerfull as the Shure E535 but the bass is clean and tight. The mid's are pretty good with a wide soundstage. If you play these headphone very loud then you start to loose soundstage and get some distorsion. But at normal listening their fine.Wish they would have less plastic.Like all speaker they need break-in period of around 200 hours. At the moment there playing 24/7 FLAC files from my Creative ZX soundcard and I was surprise that I could wear them several hours without fatigue and the more I listen to them the better they get.Get them in special around $150 but at normal price they are a bit on the pricey side.

Sennheiser HD558 Open E.A.R Technology Open Circumaural Headphones 15-28000HZ 50 Ohm
Cons:No short cable included, could be more "open"

Pros:Great sound, great clarity, comfy, got it at a good price
Comment:
Paired with a Fiio Alpen E17, this thing sounds way better than my old (and good) Samson SR850 (which are still a fantastic value) and feels so good. The sound is crisp and nice, and while the bass could use some boost, it is clear and will never drown anything. At the price I got them (170$ CAD), I think they are a really good choice!

Pros:light, warm sound, good for gaming

got this on sale, and must say it's a nice open can headphone for movie and gaming because it has a wide sound stage. Need a sound card with headphone amp to max its potential

Sennheiser HD558 Open E.A.R Technology Open Circumaural Headphones 15-28000HZ 50 Ohm
Cons:needs a dedicated soundcard for gaming

Pros:great soundstage, mids, highs, treble
Comment:
got these price matched, generally happy with them. I am no audiophile but they do lack bass if you are gaming especially look into the adh 700x, unless you want to pay the extra buck and get a sound card for your system than these are great.

Sennheiser HD558 Open E.A.R Technology Open Circumaural Headphones 15-28000HZ 50 Ohm
Cons:-not collapsible-long cable-open ear means lots of sound leakage-huge 1/4 to 1/8 plug

Pros:-comfort-quality-designed for big ears-no sweaty lobes!-around the ear-plush headband and muffs
Comment:
Overall these cans are pretty awesome for the money. Not quite audiophile quality but very good for the average person listening to 256 or 320 MP3's. Tried them out with some FLAC tunes and can hear the difference between listening to MP3's. Recommended!

Pros:-sound quality-build quality-comfort-look nice-feels like your there
Comment:
I got theese headphone and love them its like everything come alive and you fell like your there aswell I would reccomend using a headphone amp becasue without the base is kinda lacking to just being there but with one man they come alive and sing so because of this i wouldnt use on a phone unless you have a portable headphone amp.Additionally, theese are realy comforatlbe. Sennheiser HD558 Open E.A.R Technology Open Circumaural Headphones 15-28000HZ 50 Ohm
Cons:Don't wear in public unless you want everyone to hear them lol.

Pros:Super comfortable. Awesome sound.
Comment:
These headphones are super comfortable with the velour ear pads and headband. Fits my head like a glove. Sound quality is great with punchy bass and treble. Lightweight, removable ear pads in case you want to clean or replace them. After about a year and a half of use they still perform and look brand new. Bought mine on sale for 199.99 which is a steal imo.

Sennheiser HD558 Open E.A.R Technology Open Circumaural Headphones 15-28000HZ 50 Ohm
Cons:Very long cable.

Pros:Lightweight, with foam earcups and band on top of the head.Cable can be detached from the headset.Excellent clarity in sound.

Paired this with a xonar dg soundcard, and it sounds great. In terms of comfort, they are good out of the box. Note that I wear a size large helmet for sports, and this headset is still comfortable and not tight.I'm using this for all at-home PC activities (games, music, movies, etc) since I prefer IEMs when out and about.

Sennheiser HD558 Open E.A.R Technology Open Circumaural Headphones 15-28000HZ 50 Ohm
Cons:Bassheads may find the bass to be lacking here. A headphone amp is recommended to correct this issue

Pros:Exceptional comfort level and practically no clamp force and headband offers good padding so you won't feel the headphone weight on you much. It has a rather bright sound which is clear and detailed. Clarity is nice and good sound stage for an open headphone.

HD558 offers balanced overall package for an entry level studio monitor.

Cons:- At first glance I would have said price but after trying 'em out, only for a day, they're worth every penny

Pros:- Excellent Sound Reproduction- Balanced overall sound perfect for listening to Muse's new Album 2nd Law in FLAC format- Changed my gaming experience under Battlefield 3. I can now hear players creeping up on me.
Comment:
They replaced my Beats Studio's (now in the Garbage for not being able to properly reproduce any other instrument than bass) and my SteelSeries 5Hv2's for gaming.Very happy with the purchase.

Sennheiser HD558 Open E.A.R Technology Open Circumaural Headphones 15-28000HZ 50 Ohm
Cons:Need to remove foam pads that are still included behind the driver

Pros:Sound quality and bassEasy to take apart and replace components if ever need be
Comment:
Got these headphones to replace my old HD 555s which were falling apart. These are pretty much like a reskinned version of the 555. I noticed better bass and sound quality which may have been attributed to my old headphones wearing down. The aesthetics for these headphones are better than the previous generation and as with the previous generation, the sound quality is as good as normally expected from the Sennheiser HD series. This is great for a mid-range audiophile with good bass and quality. If you're looking for high volume however, seek higher quality (price) headphones.A good sound card and AMP should be used in conjunction with these headphones for the best experience.
