SilenX IXP-74-14 Case Fan
Comment:
This fan functions fantastic. Genuinely silent. I purchased this in conjunction with their cooler. I was in a position to do a dual fan setup to cool the CPU. Temps on the CPU is down and my method is quieter than ever. Value is a bit high but hopefully it'll final longer than the stock fans in my method.

SilenX IXP-74-14 Case Fan
Comment:
At complete speed - these fans move a lot of air. Come in great packaging and the silicone fan holders (instead of screws) worked very properly for me (they are considerably softer than other fan vibration dampening items I've had experience with; so 1 has to be careful not to break them through installation; as soon as in location they seem to do the job of maintaining the fan body away from metal and avoiding possibility of rattle). 1 final 'pro": possibly these fans do have the greatest noise to air volume ratio - no way to tell. At complete speed these fans are loud. Using a noiseless power provide (no cooling fan; no computer), I plugged this fan alongside Enermax UC-12EB 120mm fan with 'enlobal' bearings (friction free of charge; fan blade assembly 'levitates' on magnetic field and has no speak to with shaft and the rest of the fan). Enermax fan is rated at 17dBA whereas this fan is rated at 14dBA. Yet Enermax is way, WAY more quiet than the Silenx fan. I did not not use a Decibel meter but it's instantly obvious that Silenx rated at reduce noise level is actually way louder of the 2. I quite a lot doubt Enermax would claim their merchandise to be LOUDER than they actually are. So I have to conclude that noise rating of Silenx fan, that's supposed to be a full 3dBA quieter than the Enermax item - is flawed. Of program Enermax moves way much less air than Silenx. But I take a significant concern with noise figures provided by Silenx specifically thinking of the price. In spite of false dBA rating this fan worked for me. Utilized it to replace energy supply fan ƒ year old Seasonic with regular ball bearing fan that spins at a low speed). Attempted both Enermax & Silenx. Enermax would not start when energy provide is cold (PSU regulates voltage sent to the fan based on temperature thus controlling fan speed). Enermax apparently wants much more juice to commence. Silenx works just fine in my application as it never spins at its annoyingly loud 1400 rpm. At 1000rpm or less it's practically noiseless (just like the Enermax; which incidentally spins at 1000 rpm at 12V...)A different concern is variety of bearing. Package says 'Hybrid' bearing. But Silenx web site claims this model utilizes fluid dynamic bearings. So either they have two various goods yet only one particular SKU or the internet web site or the package is misleading. Either way - offered how pricey these Created in China fans are - this sort of discrepancy is unacceptable.

Quiet I purchased two of these. One lasted for about 9 months, the other one particular for about 18 months. Now I obtain Scythe. Lower cfpm but even quieter, and does the job for what I need to have it (cabinet cooling).

great fan, has a quite quite high static pressure which is great, i put it on my scythe ninja rev.b and it dropped load temps on my E6600 by 12C so now it loads at 21C and idles at 15C at stock speeds, which is awsome none that i can see i suggest this to anyone, wether it be for a case fan or a fan for the scythe or thermalright you can\'t go wrong by it

Fairly color. Rattled on the very first use, even with the rubber mounts. Died after a handful of weeks of use. Won't be shopping for any more SilenX fans.

SilenX IXP-74-14 Case Fan
Comment:
It's shiny. Fan feels like it's going to fall apart after a couple years use. Blades are slapping the housing now. This is the closest specified model I could locate. But I have this (similar) fan and yet another fan by SilenX, both 120mm. They are both twice as loud as specified, and possibly the poorest construction I've seen nevertheless. I wonder if these are a super-low cost brand painted, relabled, and produced to run at unique RPMs. The loudness specification appears to be pulled out of thin air, due to the fact there's no way that's right. 14dBA sounds additional like 30dBA. They also run very hot! How does a fan run really hot? It's challenging to discover a quiet fan often. SilenX is all advertising hype. Don't be tricked. And so high priced!!! You'd be better off obtaining a typical name brand ball-bearing fan and then wire solder it to a 5v molex to half the RPMs. Not getting what you spend for.

Moves air incredibly well. Very quiet! Cost At 1st, I thought this fan was louder than the 72CFMቾ.4db fan it replaced. Upon further investigation, I located it to be extremely quiet. Due to the fact the old fan was drowning out my X1950Pro fan, I thought this fan was louder. No, it was my video card fan that I was now hearing. Now it's time for a replacement gpu fan.

Looks cool. Good rubber mounting. It moves a lot of air. This this is NOT 14dB like it says. It was truly louder than the stock fan in my case. RMA'd it. If you looking for a fan that moves a lot of air then get this. If you want a quiet fan then obtain anything else.

SilenX IXP-74-14 Case Fan
Comment:
Really quiet, even at max RPM (I purchased the variable speed model). Rubber mounting studs helped to decouple any vibration from fans to the surface on which they had been mounted. Purchased two of these, and both had been unreliable. They would stop unexpectedly (at high adequate temperatures that they ought to be operating). Fiddled with them, spun by hand, unplugged, replugged and they would work once again for a even though, and sooner or later failed completely following abou 3 months.About half of the rubber mounting studs broke while mounting the fan. Other individuals were very durable, had two-three occasions the stretch vs the when that broke. Each fans were applied for as exhaust fans of an office cabinet. Every was mounted on the 2-three inches directly behind the Computer situation exhaust, making use of the enclosed rubber mounting studs, and passed air into a vented wall cavity. When they worked, they worked well. Just not dependable sufficient at any cost.

Easy to install. The a single that I bought locally in Orlando is this exact model, died soon after only 4 months. Just froze-up! The blades won't even spin free-hand. Practically cost me a fairly high priced construct. And the fan is not affordable either. Won't ever acquire this brand once again!

Blow lots of air. Good and quiet for the amount of air they move. Had some coolermaster fans in my case ahead of, and now with the Silenx ones in, my pc's nice and quiet. The rubber gromits only seem to want to set up once just before they begin to tear.

I can now hear all the other fans in my process, but I am too frugal (ie cheap) to modify anyting else in my method ideal now. Great fan! Pricey. This is the most I have ever spent on the fan. Certainly worth the funds, even though.

Runs quiet. Immediately after a year or two, they develop into very fragile. Had three silenx fans in my case for three years. They put on out and break more than time. two of the fans broke from attempting to clean it, the other 1 broke from powering up my computer on its side. The bind among the fan blade and the frame becomes weaker more than time.

Quiet. Comes with silicone rubber, shock-absorbing mounts. Where to start off. I have 2 of these, as well as 4 of the IXP-64-11 92mm and 1 of the IXP-54-14 80mm. The specifications on the SilenX goods are exaggerated, and the fans do NOT perform as stated. They are a little louder than the noise spec, and move much less air than spec'd. Most of them have leaked bearing fluid inside the first two weeks. A single of the 92mm didn't function out of the box. Got it replaced. A single of the other 92mm is failing. One particular of the 120mm was noisy out of the box (sounds like bad bearings). The other 120mm is failing. The wires are thin and flimsy. The create material is light, affordable plastic. These points are not worth the dollars. These are junk, and I will never buy a SilenX fan once again.

Moves lots of air, CPU temp down 1-2 degrees Substantially far more noisy than the Scythe fan that came with my Ninja. The Scythe fan was truly silent, but didn't move as much air as I wanted.

Silent or at least really quietVery good aesthetics ExpensiveMoves quite little air (I can barely feel any air movement)Two out of three fans that I bought died Ok so these fans started out fairly nice, they were quiet, and even although they moved less air than I had hoped for, it was adequate.I was pretty satisfied with these, till about 1 month later when my initial fan began to die. It would run slower and slower, then when I moved the blades with my fingers it felt as if one thing sticky was in the bearings. Ultimately got so "sticky" the motor couldn't move it at all.And now, its been 5 months and a second fan has decided to die. It makes small rattling noises, which often grow to be Seriously loud and the blades slow down. It sounds as if theres a wire or one thing in the way of the blades, but there isn't. Had to smack the back of my case a bit and the fan worked again.Gonna contact SilenX and see what they have to say.

Moves air like no one's enterprise. I mean.... A LOT OF AIR!! Not quiet. One of the two fans that I bought today makes a noticeably louder clicking noise than the other one. I took the fan out of my antec 900 to make sure it was not the fan vibrating against the case, and found that it was just the fan making this annoying racket. The main cause for this acquire was to get some quieter fans to replace the blue antec fans for my 900. If they didn't make this clicking/buzzing noise they'd be great, but...*sigh*... THEY DO. Possibly I'll give the scythe fans a shot.
