Startech PCI-E x1 to x16 Low Profile Motherboard Slot Extension Adapter
Cons:Should include a back plate extension.
Pros:Great for using a x4 or x8 PCIe card in a x1 slot if you only need x1 bandwidth. |
Ended up with only a PCIe x1 slot left in my home server and needed to connect a x4 Gigabit NIC. This worked perfectly and the card runs great at only x1 bandwidth. Unfortunately Startech doesn't include a backplate extension so you end up with a small opening on the back of your computer. I'm pretty sure they include the extension with the PCI version of this adapter.
