TRENDnet TPL-303E2K Powerline AV Adapter Kit
Cons:
None
Pros: Easy to setup. Work as advertised. Comment:
Needed an ethernet connection to stream audio/video to home stereo/TV out in the living room. A contractor quoted $300 to run a Cat 6 cable around the house (around 200 ft). Picked this unit up on sale ($75.00 for a pair of units). The cheapest offering around. Setup and working in no time at all. Connected to a 100 Mbps switch. The throughput to the Patriot Media Player is about 100 Mbps. When connected to a Netgear Prosafe GB switch, the GB ethernet adapter on the notebook showed a 100 Mbps connection. The Trendnet software said that the connection is 166 Mbps.Whatever the real throughput is, this is a hell of a deal to reach areas of your house where running an ethernet cable is not practical or costly. The only drawback is that the unit is quite wide. It will cover more than 1 outlet on a powerbar. But then, all powerline products are designed this way. |

TRENDnet TPL-303E2K Powerline AV Adapter Kit
Cons:
- 200 Mbit might not be enough for some
Pros: - Inexpensive on sale- Does the job Comment:
Picked this up on sale -- At $75, it's basically the cheapest powerline kit out there. I'm using this kit in a room about 3 or 4 meters away from the router. I don't have a Gbit router around, so my speeds were locked to 100 Mbit from the router. Transfer speeds between machines were basically on par with the regular setup. All in all, it does the trick. |
This unit was cheap powerline networking and it works well. It runs from the farthest apart points in my 3 story home and I can stream HD up to 720P with no stutter or buffering. I was surprised at how well it works for the price.
