We have bought a lot of of these more than the course of a year, replacing drives from numerous servers on our network. Also built a few other SAN servers with these in RAID 5 or six depending on the want. They run quiet and have a massive capacity, giving you the capability to develop super large storage volumes whilst employing less drive bays... ...These disks don't usually come in excellent shape. I'd say about 1ቫ are dead disks. When they are fantastic disks, they are Fantastic disks. They don't do nicely in UPS ground shipping, and the lack of good packaging from newegg.com makes it even additional subject to abuse ahead of you get the disks. - greater packing methods by newegg.com are required- superior handling approaches by UPS/FedEx/USPS or whoever ships them would be ideal also- cost per GB is nevertheless sorta high for these, but the performance is the kicker here. If they only spun at 10,000rpm... (they are rated at about 7200rpm or so)

I purchased two of these and put them in a dual toaster external closure. These toasters are known to be difficult on a challenging drive with obtaining bumped and stuff like that. I have been carefull with them(given the price) but they have stood up well to the abuse. With outstanding performance and no hiccups. I am nicely pleased with my purchase. they do run a lil warm, kinda tends to make me glad i have them in an open setting where they can get plenty of air to maintain cool. They are created to run at lightning quick speeds (and they do). So, having them run a lil warm when they are being taxed is not seriously all that unexpected, but since I paid so much for 'em 鵬 a piece) I maintain a fan on mine to maintain them running cooler so they will have a longer lifespan. If I had mine in a desktop tower, i would assure they had adequate air flow. these drives are good, I don't understand how persons can put the cost in the cons when they need to think they are worth the money or they wouldn't have purchased them in the initial place. Yes, these aren't affordable, but you get what you spend for. I use mine in a server setting, and I am well pleased with them.

Good drive and lots of advanced characteristics nothing at all negative about the drive They packed 6 of them as a single block(and not even a actually tight block) with a single layer of bubble wrap for whole block and threw it into way too big of a box devoid of adequate paper filler. Needless to say, three of the drives were DOA and the other 3 very suspect immediately after arriving and becoming so poorly packaged.

- They look wonderful on paper. - Two "Enterprise" grade drives, neither of which operates? Soon after getting a stream of Seagate drives with errors, and good experience with WD Caviar Black drives, I ordered 2 of these to use in a RAID 1 in a NAS unit. The original packaging was "ok" - each and every drive shipped in a single layer of bubble wrap inside a small white box. These boxes had been then put in a big box with a little bit of packing paper - not sufficient to quit the smaller boxes banging about in there, but greater than nothing...The initial a single initialized, but had more than 1000 reallocated sectors and other Intelligent errors correct off the bat.The other drive powered up but was otherwise unrepsonsive.I RMA'd the "DOA" to Newegg.I RMA'd the other drive to Western Digital (paying for postage on dead product is an insult IMO - WD gets their RMA procedure extremely appropriate).I am extremely disappointed with WD's QA. These drives ought to be additional trustworthy than their "consumer grade" and so far are something but.

Arrived swiftly and must be compatible with my 9650se-4lpml RAID controller. HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE PACKAGING JOB by Newegg staff. I ordered five drives Ɣ + 1 spare). They arrived in the 'bulk styrofoam carrier' that the mfg ships OEM drives in. Newegg staff wrapped one thin layer of bubble wrap about the carrier and tossed it into a box of styro peanuts. The box arrived with the tape largely ripped open since the 'chunk o drives' had been bouncing around inside the box; two of the drives had begun to fall out of the carrier absolutely. If any of the drives basically perform and do not fail due to Newegg's utterly negligent packaging job, I will return to my assessment and raise the rating. Otherwise, I expect these drives to FAIL due to Newegg's lack of concern when shipping 񘐜 worth of really fragile product.

two TB of space. Ordered 6 drives. 1 of them had smart failures during the creation of a raid five array. I was hoping I would get lucky and not experience the exact same complications some of the other reviewers had.I made decide to go raid 6 given that these drives are proving to be unreliable...

2TB Designed for RAID in mind - no dropout or time out errors7,200 RPM64Mb cachdual processors and dual stage actuation for redundency Runs a little hot compaired to my other WD drives A little on the high side for cost but contemplating its an enterprise series drive its properly worth the extra funds to know you wont loose your pricless info in huge RAID volumes.I have ten of these running in an iStarUSA Port Multiplier server unit running two RAID 10's + spare drive, and at the rate there going I might remove the Spares for an additional RAID 1 setup.

One for data and one for backup. Big capacity, run cool (about 34 celcius).I'll give the HDD 5stars believed one disk was DOA. As an Enterprise storage it must be a lot more dependable. In my case, got 50% fail rate. Purchased two of these. 1 from Newegg, and one from a reseller in Europe. Europe HDD was DOA and had to spend for shipping back the disk.HDD hold lots of information, but when it dies (and it will as all HDDs), you greater have a excellent backup.

Come on Newegg, pack your hdd's suitable, Im sick of seeing negative reviews on hdd's mainly because ya cant packem appropriate and UPS likes to drop kick by the way or play football with your package. Come on Newegg.I have WD hdd's but wont buy from Newegg, WD has amazing RMA, if yall have to ship ur hdd from Newegg.
