I have been running the WD greens for storage for a few years, they are quiet and reliable. All my seagate drives have died within 2-3 years and all the WD greens are still going strong.

Pros:Just works, despite hearing earlier reviews about it not working properly with some NAS or enclosures. Comment: Works without issue. Had no problems having it detected with my NAS or external enclosure.

Format to a slightly larger block size, and used to backup large archived files (7Zip many small ones into a single file). The larger block size makes file transfer faster, but will waste space on small files.

I have a reasonable loud rig but I've spun it up by itself and it's pretty inaudible. I also store a lot of video on the drive and it's able to play it fine so it suites all my needs.

Worked perfectly in that capacity, AND it only took about 13 hours to transfer the entire contents of this drive (which was full by the time I'd copied everything off of every other drive in my house) on to the NAS server. I figured it would take a week!

Pros:Fast transfer rate, over 800Gb in just under 2hrs Comment: Took me a bit to get it fully formatted as I had to Change it to the new GPT format before I could do anything but so far so good no complaints.

Niavlyscire@NCIX Rating: Review Date: 09/19/12	Western Digital WD Caviar Green 3TB SATA3 3.5IN 64MB Cache Intellipower Internal Hard Disk Drive Cons:- First drive shipped needed to be RMA'd, but 2nd drive works as expected- Not ultra-fast like an SSD Pros:- Tons of storage space- Very low powered- Hardly no noise compared to my WD Black 1Tb- Nice speeds for a 5400RPM drive Comment: So my first drive made ticking and scratchy sounds, but after sending it back for RMA, the 2nd one works as expected. The drive is quite, low-powered, with tons of space, and is surprisingly fast. I get a max of 110 mb/s writes, and I think around 150mb/s reads (not 100% sure on the reads). But for a 5400rpm drive, I'm impressed and fully satisfied. This drive will make for a great media storage drive.

Comment: Good drive size to store data, but it's better to have MB to support the drive. Didn't have a good experience, after loosing data, because of disk corruption.

Pros:Capacity, reasonable value l $139.99 Comment: Seagate has a point with "green where it counts" in regard to power consumption. However, 5400 RPM still seems the sweet spot for bulk storage as performance is adequate while minimizing noise and vibration/resonance (although that's less of a problem with recent models). Two year warranty is not as good as three, but better than one.Would recommend.

Slow drives, but large capacity. No issues yet. Would buy again, but by the time I need to, there should be 4TB drives available.
