None... I bought this and it was dead currently. (See other thoughts) The fact that it was dead or defective. I got this installed with my IDE drive plugged it in and it in no way lit up. Later on, I located out it had managed to fry my HDD from the looks of it.The only very good point I found out with this product.. is Newegg's assistance is excellent!

Works like I wanted it to converts IDE mobo to sata HDD just fine (haven't attempted it the other way about. fits type of loosely in the IDE connector on the motherboard, these items are universal in size the probably could have resized the device and it would really feel a tiny a lot more stable. Make sure you study about the jumper/switch settings prior to trying to install. I don't if maybe some of the other less fortunate folks didn't take that into consideration prior to counting it as DOA

The idea. The reality that I seriously wanted it to work. Does not seem compatible with Dell Dimension 2400. I wanted to use a SATA HD. My very best guess is that the BIOS is the limiter since it has no choices for manual configuration. I noted other comments prior to acquiring about the somewhat confusing instructions on SATA to IDE and vice versa. Attempted it both approaches to make sure. No joy. You requires your chances often. It still could operate for you. If your BIOS does not give a range of possibilities for setting up HDs and relies only on autodetect, etc., it's most likely a losing proposition.

Works wonderful, does plug appropriate into motherboard IDE headers or drive header. Effectively produced. Sits too tall in the motherboard to fit underneath devices in the drive bays. As one other reviewer talked about, it does not sit tightly in the socket, which the card and cables require to be cautiously positioned so as not to make the device "flop more than" in the socket. Buy a appropriate angle IDE adapter with it and you need to be very good-to-go. Beware: you can\'t use an IDE cable in between it and the motherboard or device - you'd need to have a cable with PINS on it to mate with this device.

Straightforward enough to install, and low cost Item was DOA. From the second the LED power light stayed dark I knew I would have no luck. Too low cost to be worth the RMA. Also, packaging was crumpled, and it looked as if I was offered a single that had been returned after ahead of. Immediately after reading evaluations of this product, I knew there would be a 50኎ chance that it would not operate at all. I decided to give it a shot, and got what I expected. If you acquire this product, be warned that as likely as not, it will not operate.

It has a good form element for my use. Quite narrow, the cables come out of either finish straight. Can be utilized as IDE to SATA or SATA to IDE with the flip of a switch and swapping the position of the jumper. Calls for a floppy disk drive power cable (don't know the technical term). Why a jumper? they couldn't figure out how to integrate it into the switch?I am employing this for a slim dvd drive I have in my mini ITX situation. The slim drive was is IDE so I have to use a startech mini IDE to full size IDE adapter initially (which ALSO calls for a floppy drive styled power plug), and then this Nippon labs unit on top of that. Was worried that there may be some sort of conflict with the two in tandem but after in fact reading the instructions on the back of the package and setting the switch and jumper I was capable to get it working fine.It was not right away clear on the other hand which way the unit plugged in simply because there was no plastic housing for the knotch to fit in. I had to appear at my motherboard and see which side the knotch was on relative to the side that the missing pin was on since the startech adapter only has a bunch of bare pins and no notch.

Gets the job accomplished. I employed it to convert my IDE hard drives into SATA drives due to the fact my new motherboard did not support the old technology.I did not notice any decrement in speed when accessing information from the drives. I feel the adapter is a bit huge. Depending on how a lot space you have in your situation (cabling, size if PCI cards, and so forth) you may possibly have to play about with your setup. When converting IDE drives to SATA make positive the drive is set to MASTER otherwise the drive wont be recognized by your motherboard.

Upgrading an older program w/o an SATA port, but don't want to go through the difficulty in obtaining an external card, then this is for you. It was literally plug-in-play. Dell Dimension 4500 with intel mb sees my new 1TB drive w/o problems in WinXP and Ubuntu. No drivers required. Yes, directions are incredibly poor; kudos for the individual who posted how to make it work which produced it effortless. Do not count on a huge overall performance upgrade, due to the fact you are nonetheless restricted with the speed supplied beneath an IDE port. Make sure you have the clearance on your laptop or computer, or you will have to obtain an adapter so as not to harm your motherboard (it's about two.5 x three inches). Also, with IDE you usually can connect two devices on 1 ribbon. This adapter, when connected directly to the motherboard, only allows 1 SATA device to be installed. So, anticipate to 'lose' at least a single device on one particular IDE port. Not a problem for most, but if you have DVD burners, other drives, etc, make confident you have a contingency program for losing 1 device. Most MBs have 2 IDE channels for 4 devices. Installing 1 of these on your board will minimize your count by 1, which implies you will only have three devices offered. If you are content with your computer system and all you want to do is upgrade to a bigger challenging-drive without having obtaining to wipe/reload your whole OS, this is it. This should be for these that are interested in space only. You will not gain considerably, if anything, in drive efficiency, so do not anticipate your pc to be quicker. I am posting my thoughts for the configuration of having a motherboard that does not have SATA connections, but with this adapter you can connect to a new SATA drive thru an IDE port. I'm not positive about the other way about.Consider power needs: Even though this kit comes with a Molex 4-pin adapter for the card and a SATA cable, you will not get a power adapter for your SATA drive. So, if you are operating with an older method, be positive you can power up your SATA drive on your current power supply. Likewise, you will will need at least 1 Molex connection for the adapter.Definitely worth the investment contemplating the cost of upgrading to an completely new computer system.

Supports UDMA transfer mode. Includes a SATA data cable. This is a excellent gadget to have on hand. The IDE DVD drive died in my old IDE-only method. I replaced it with a new SATA DVD plus this adapter. When I replace the old system I'll move the SATA DVD more than and use this adapter to hook the old IDE tough drive to the new SATA method to copy my information. I can see why men and women have difficulty installing it and believe it's DOA.- It comes with no instructions at all.- The legend on the adapter board is ambiguous. From my trial and error: "SATA->IDE" is for a SATA Computer and an IDE drive. "IDE->SATA" is for an IDE Pc and a SATA drive.- The drive wants a separate power connection.- The manufacturer's internet website is "under construction" and their telephone number is a extended distance call (not toll totally free). Also, the drive activity LED on the front of the Pc stays lit all the time now? I'll have to play with BIOS settings, etc. to see if I can get it operating once more. This adapter board wants a four-pin mini power connection (like for a floppy), and the drive will also require either a four-pin Molex for an IDE drive or a SATA power connection for a SATA drive. For my SATA DVD drive in an IDE-only method that doesn't have SATA power from the power supply I required this adapter PLUS a "SATA Power Adapter" cable that is not included. Newegg sells those too, or Radio Shack stores stock them if you forget to order it.

The cheapest adapter you can come across. It operates The instruction is not intuitive. Most people will read it the other way around and fail to figure it correctly. 1) (PC) SATA to IDE HDDThis signifies you have IDE Harddisk and want to convert it to SATA HDD in SATA Computer system. two) (PC) IDE to SATA HDD This signifies you have a SATA Harddisk and want to convert it to IDE HDD in regular IDE Pc.

The directions behind the box had been clear to me and got this to function in a minute. No issues with it, does what it's supposed to do. I have converted an IDE hard drive to SATA. I required this as the motherboard I bought did not help IDE. None. The fact that it comes with a SATA cable is nice, even though I don't want it as I have several already.

It converter my IDE drive to SATA The settings on the card are challenging to comprehend. They appear to be backwards. Had to mess with the settings ahead of it would operate. Could be simpler to use, one switch to convert either way would be nice. It's low-cost, works ok, transfer rate appears ok. It did what i necessary it to do even though it was a small frustrating to use.
