Cons: Flimsy plastics for feet/top, Cheap alloy in risers, no extra screws.
Pros: 4x 3.5" disk mounts, Tiny, Very pleasing to the eye, Easy to run psu cables. |
I ordered this as soon as it came out. It's one of the more visually appealing mATX case that can hold a whopping 4x 3.5" drives (5 if you order brackets to mount a disk in the 5.25" bay). I didn't rate it a full 5 star due to a few quality issues. The case feet and the upper loops are made from a plastic that is surprisingly flimsy. Under no circumstance would you want to lift a full case by these plastic loops that looks like a handle. So keep that in mind if mobility of the case is an issue.Space was good. Depending what combination of hardware used you may not be able to utilize all fan locations. For example, the lower fan mount(s), which can accommodate a 230mm fan or two 120s can not be used if you have more than two 3.5" hard disks. This would leave two 120mm fan mountings at the top of the case and one 120mm or 140mm on the rear.I was surprised I was able to fit a non-modular PSU into the case. There is no fan intakes on the front of the case as the PSU lays flat against it but this leaves room for proper cable runs. The black painted risers included are not the brass ones you might be used to. They are made of a soft alloy that is similar to the risers provided with budget $20 cases and cannot be tightened to a specification pc builders are used to for ensuring they wont come out when you attempt to undo a motherboard screw. Be very gentle and under tighten as there are no extras. The fans included (2), while quiet push very minimal air which is not sufficient for this small enclosure with mechanical drives and standard desktop cpus. Be sure to check out other fans for use in this case and keep these as spares. Noctua (sku 27129) are an amazing upgrade without an increase in noise.Fan screw holes are off by 1 or 2mm in places but did not impede installation. The side panels slide but do not pull off, you have to push them back forward a smidgen to release. There were minor inconsistencies in the pressing and drilling of the case fittings but this did not contribute to any additional noise or vibrations while in use.The price point for the case is good. Some more solid risers and stronger plastics in places would have made this one of my favorite PC cases of all time. Just be gentle during installation and it will be a fantastic case for your mATX based systems. This review was modfied by poster @ 10-20-13 02:03 PM
