It is fast but I had to sell my wife's jewelry to buy this little gem. No regret though, I will have it mounted as a pendant and will give it back to her when it is obsolete, i.e. by the end of summer.

Work like a charm. With a X58 SLI Motherboard and Corsair Liquid Cooling, overclock to 4Ghz, the CPU temp keeps at 50 deg C. And I live in the Caribbean where the outside temperature is around the 80-90 deg F (full time). So If the CPU is at 50C in my place, it is really awesome the I7 975. I'm not a super overclock guy (actually I just copy the overclocking setup from other guy I found on internet), I'm sure this CPU can reach the 4.5Ghz and more with no hesitation, with a little more fine tuning. Super Stable. NO crash so far. Go for it and push to the limit.

Its a good processor but you could just save up to 500 bucks by using a xeon processor instead which you can oc up to 5GHz on water cooling and still have an amazing gaming device.

I had a choice of buying this chip, or keeping my house and car... I kept my stuff and decided that the silicon construction that is used in the chips design isn't really worth the money they want for them. Intel needs to step up there game and quit milking out the 4 core cpu's. They keep charging high prices for there cpu's only because there are people out there stupid enough to believe they have to pay that much for so little performance. INTEL SUCCESSFULLY BRAINWASHED THE U.S.

This may not be the cheapest proc on the market, but is sure is the fastest. Beats any cpu you throw at it. Ignore the whiners who can afford this cpu. Get a job save up some money an actually buy this cpu, a quality board, and some kick-butt memory.

This cpu runs very good but with a simuliar set up running the phenom II it is a bit slower. for less then half the price go with the phenom II 955 or greater you will be amazed at the speed compared to any of the i7's AMD runs a little hotter but more efficient then the i7. AND MUCH FASTER THEN THE i7

With this processor no doubt its fast( the reason for the 4 in proformance) but the power per price comparison to amd's Phenom II leaves this cpu looking like an overpriced audi. go with an Phenom II 955 am3 arcitecture

This is by far the fastest and best processor I have seen! However, if you're a gamer and have a good system: MoBo, RAM, PS, H2O Cooling, etc. you can easily save yourself $500.00 and just over-clock the 920! I've successfully over-clocked two i7 920's and one i7 960 to the same speeds I've got the i7 975 running at. Although, you do have to have high end system components to properly do it. If you're a gamer, put the money into other system components and just OC a 920 or a 960. If you've got the $ and want to go for the i7 975 you certainly won't be disappointed. It's everything they say it is!!!

This processor runs very cool in my water cooled rig. Having 4 HyperThreaded processors available makes video rendering and Photoshop a snap! What took hours on my old machine now takes minutes. I appreciate the lower power consumption and hence heat dissipation of this new processor series.

I decided to upgrade from the C2 Extreme QX9770 to this beast. Was it worth it? Sort of, I also overclocked to up to 4.1 ghz with the V10.

This thing is awsome. It did warm up a little when I benchmarked it so I'm going to get a chilltec cooler before I overclock it and really put it to work. Easy to install but you do have to be very careful not to damage the socket on the mobo.

This puppy overclocks to outrage speeds, my previous processor was running hot at 75 degrees centigrade with watercooling so I shifted to a coolermaster V8 heat sink and it's staying plenty cool averaging 30 degrees centigrade.

you get what you pay for! I've read reviews about this processor being a waste because you can buy a significantly cheaper i7 920 and overclock it to the same speed. That's great and all, but why bother? By the time you upgrade your heat sink or go water cooling, you've almost spent the same amount of money as a chip that does it right out of the box with the stock fan! Not to mention you can overclock this thing far beyond the hopes of a 920 even before having to upgrade your cooling. I bought this CPU because I don't want to have to upgrade again for several years. It handles photo editing AND video playback AND music simultaneously with aplomb. So far, I've only been able to get it up to 33 percent!! Love it! For the genius below me that didn't use a fan, he got what he deserved!

I bought this CPU as an upgrade for my video editing suite and after a week of use, my computer just shut off and I started smelling burnt silicone. I inspected my computer and found that half the socket was molten. I do NOT recommend this CPU because of its obviously poor design. I already wrote a letter to Intel about this. Guess I should have used a CPU fan?

Simple to install and awesome performance bags for a great over-clock motherboard and a better heat good heat sink. This one Corsair CWCH50-1 Hydro H50 CPU Liquid Cooler - 120mm Fan, Copper Cold Plate, Aluminum Radiator drops the temp from 58C down to 28C resting non-clocked and has not gone pass 42C at 4.Gz with RAM at 1866Mhz in a Large Air Cool Case. Awesome.

Thats right I am getting my Gamer on! I am not going to insult you by saying the obvious that this high end chip is not for Putting around on the web. This Chip is Blowing my games away, makes windows look like a good programed OS. I have also done Video editing since my build... it zooms! Load times and in game action fly.
