But I would agree with the general consensus that the fan is loud. It is of good size to ensure the hard drive is kept cool (As well as the case itself) yet it can be disconnected if need be. I wouldn't though nor would I keep it running constantly. Mine actually came with its frontside scratched for some reason as well as the side-strip that has the logo arrived coming off already for some reason. Don't know why retail wrapping looked new. This is just how it came but works how its suppose to so rather not fuss about it. Also the usb cable that it comes with is about a foot or so. Not nearly long enough for my taste but nothing that can't be remedied. using a osx 10.6.3 and Win7 x64 x2 working great with a partitioned into 3, NTFS, HTFS 2x Sgate 1.5TB Serial ATA HD 7200 32MB SATA 3G.

Overall I'm very happy with this purchase but the fan is extremely loud. I can put up with the noise to do backups but I wouldn't want this on every time I used the computer

I built one from my Pastor's overfilled hard drive with all his videos and pictures and he was very impressed with the assembly. The gold with black trim makes it look very expensive and the fan is whisper quiet. Plug it in to any PC and it just works . . . I'll buy another!
