Pros: Price. Works in Vista64.
Comment:
I have had this running in a computer running Vista64 with a phenom processor. It complements my onboard gigabit nicely as my computer is attached to two different networks. I tried several 10/100 PCI cards but none had compatible drivers.

Pros: 1Gbps, works out of the box with linux.
Comment:
This card works perfectly with linux. Just plug it in, boot the computer and voilà! the card is automatically configured. I can't say if it is faster or slower than other 1Gbps cards but on my network it is a big difference over 100Mbps.

I purchased this D-LINK DGE-530T Gigaexpress 10/100/1000MBPS RJ-45 32BIT PCI Network Card along with the D-LINK DGS-1005D 5 Port 10/100/1000 BASE-T Unmanaged Gigabit Switch as a bundle for a real sweet deal a couple weeks back and it does exactly what it says it does. I haven't been able to see any difference on the power consumption as of yet, but the transfer speeds is was what I was looking for.

Pros: PCI good for older Computers
Comment:
Solid Performing NIC for older systems that you want to bump up to GIG. Using this nic for an older media server to stream between it and my PS3. Price point is a factor, you'll only be able to go so fast on older systems, I was looking for a solid performing yet cheap card I could throw in a box that if I turn it off 6 months from now I won't sweat the $30

Cons: none so far

Pros: easy linux install, quick
Comment:
Installed on a new Ubuntu 6.10 server (low end, ASROCK board) with a non-raid configuration and was able to run 260 Mbps which is respectable considering the hardware. I think my WD 500 sata is the new bottleneck. Ubuntu was able to pick up the card right away, install cd was not required. Good first impressions.

Cons: - Mediocre transfer performance- High CPU utilization- Limited driver support on more obscure systems such as Solaris

Pros: - Slightly less expensive compared to other gigabit cards- Jumbo frame support (9014 bytes)
Comment:
When transferring a file, this card uses 100% of my Athlon XP 2800+ CPU, and it uses almost 40% of my Core 2 Duo e6300 CPU. I really noticed this when the transfer speed dropped while I was working on the Athlon computer. I don't suggest this card if you want to do high speed transfers and high CPU applications at the same time.I read this review to situate this card between the popular Intel Pro 1000 series, and the Linksys EG1032: http://redmondmag.com/features/article.asp?EditorialsID=311It looks like the summary of the three cards is this: The Intel is high performance and high CPU usage. The Linksys is lower performance and lowest CPU usage. The D-link is lower performance and high CPU usage. As of this writing, the Linksys is about $10 more than the D-link, and the Intel is about $10 more on top of that. So in the future, I would buy the Linksys for older machines, and the Intel for very fast new ones. The D-link unfortunately doesn't find a place in that lineup. The verdict: I don't recommend this card. I recommend spending a bit more money for faster speed and/or less CPU utilization.

Cons: Not ideal for a server that is going to be doing more than hosting files

Pros: Easy to install and the driver installation is a snapIt comes with a 1U bracket for the card to allow you the option of installing into a rackmount server
Comment:
This is a nice little NIC for the price and it is easy to install. A nice thing about it is it comes with the bracket for a 1U server case, although for anything other than a file server or ftp server, I am not sure this card is the best solution, one of the intel NIC's would be a better choice if you have the funds for it.As for installation of the drivers, I have had no issues, the whole procedure went through rather smoothly which says a lot for me as the last D-Link NIC (DFE-530TX) I installed was on an older win98 box and the drivers installation was a fight from the start to finish. This is a great card for a home network enthusiast who wants to setup a gigabit network on a budget.

Cons: -Didn't work with my server (Compaq Deskpro P2-350)

Pros: -Inexpensive
Comment:
I bought this card to use in my server as an inexpensive way to get gigabit speeds. It never worked in the server.. I'm not sure if it's a problem with the older computer, or if it's just a cheap card that has compatibility issues to begin with.Regardless, I've never had another place to use it. So it's been sitting in my parts bin since I bought it pretty much. I'm sure I'll find a place for it someday and be able to try it out.So if you're planning on buying this card to use in an older computer, do some research first! Thanks for reading.

Cons: D-Link as a company

Pros: Marvel 88E8001 chipsetSK98 drivers
Comment:
This gets a high review for technical merits, but I'm only giving three stars since I will not purchase again. My reasons for buying were that the system I was installing the card into has had issues with the Intel cards I have, so I needed to try another model - a cheaper model, I hoped.System runs Solaris, installing the SKGE drivers and adding the pci id worked fine. I'm happy with the card and the driver, but this is hopefully my last purchase from D-Link, as I can not stand a company who has the nerve to take work and not follow the license agreements."We are big, we don't have to follow instructions - even when the courts rule we have to."

Cons: - unreliable- read below

Pros: - comes with low profile bracket- cheap (turns out to be a weakness though)
Comment:
In the sumary below, all three cards were tested using the stock drivers, then with the most up to date D-Link drivers.-----------------------Initially I was satisfied with this card, having one in my main system (XP Pro) as it worked fine. Because it seemed to be working flawlessly, I bought one for my server (running Server 2003 R2) and one for my HTPC (running MCE). I get file transfers through my gigabit switch between my main system and my server fine ( although not as fast as I thought it would be). However, in my HTPC, it doesn't recognize that a cable is even present, and have to use the backup NIC (10/100) that's present. I don't have a monitor always plugged into my server, so I VNC into it. This lets me control my server for anywhere from 5 seconds to 5 minutes before the NIC craters. I have to hook a monitor up to disable then enable the card to get it working (repairing the connection doesn't do a thing). When I VNC into my main system, the card is fine, so long as I do not move the mouse when the screen is polling. If I do, the connection is dropped and I have to re-VNC in again (which is not as bad as having to visit the machine physically).I've done a ton of research on the problem and came across similar problems. One review that I wish I had read before buying this card: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/customer-reviews/B0000XKBQU#R1Z4EU1YF1EHJXLong Story Short from my Expreience:------------------------------------MCE -> Doesn't recognize network connection (doesn't work)Server 2003 -> VNC renders the card useless until you Disable/EnableXP Pro -> VNC causes connection to drop if mouse is moved during polling------------------------------------I would not buy this card again. I would not recommend this card. Find a different Gigabit card.

Pros: - Great speed- Supports jumbo frames- Includes extra bracket for half-height PCI slots- Affordable
Comment:
Awesome Gigabit network card that supports jumbo frames. Note that for large file transfers, your speed is most likely to be limited by your hard drive (~130 Mbps) instead of the network. Very good performance for gaming.

Upgrade to Gigabit Ethernet and Increase Productivity!
The D-Link DGE-530T is a 10/100/1000Mbps copper Gigabit PCI card for servers and workstations. Current systems running at 10Mbps and 100Mbps can be upgraded to Gigabit Ethernet, eliminating network bottlenecks, and increasing productivity. Integrate Gigabit now and you can save time, money, and downtime because the DGE-530T will automatically detect and run at higher speeds when it becomes available.

Cost-Effective, Scalable Migration
As an inexpensive alternative solution to fiber-optic, the card allows you to instantly upgrade to Gigabit without requiring you to install new, expensive fiber cables. Gigabit Ethernet uses your existing Category-5 cabling while providing you with 10/100/1000Mbps network speed auto-sensing and full/half duplex auto-negotiation.

Advanced Features and Security
The DGE-530T supports SNMP for remote troubleshooting and management, ACPI for lower power consumption, and WoL for remote wake. This helps to lower total cost of ownership (TCO). The card also features on-board screening of VLAN Tagged Ethernet frames, allowing you to assign multiple subnets to each server and isolate devices within each VLAN from the rest of the network for better traffic control and security. It also supports 802.1p Priority Tagging to allow you to prioritize traffic. The card also features embedded flow control and independent FIFO, providing a means to protect against possible data loss during transmission on the network. With the Cable Diagnostic feature, the card will automatically detect whether you have a bad cable, making your troubleshooting task easier.
