Cons: Not fully awesome. It is just aweso.

Pros: Sends data packets to the correct destination
Comment:
This switch works just fine. It switches data on a packet switched network at speeds of up to 1 Gbps in any one direction. It does all of this without requiring any input from me. I simply plugged in the cables and ... BAM! it worked. Go D-Link!

Pros: - Small and lightweight- Inexpensive- Does its job
Comment:
I purchased this to be able to connect multiple devices to our home network. With our router being downstairs, it was easier to connect one ethernet cable to a switch rather for upstairs rather than running multiple cables. Being pleased with our D-Link DIR 655 router, I decided to purchased this switch. It's inexpensive, does its job perfectly well, and supports GigE.

I've always preferred D-link products when it comes to networking and this little switch did not fail to meet my expectations. It does it's job and allows me to connect more computers to my network when my friends come over to do projects or play games. Highly recommended

Cons: Occasional collision

Pros: Price, power consumption, Gigibit
Comment:
I've had this switch for a few months now and all in all it was well worth the $40. the gigibit speed is nice as everything else connected to my network is gigibit. i would say maybe once every 1-2 months the switch will have a collision and drop  connections. i'm not sure if this is traffic related or power related but it really isnt that big of a deal. All in All this is a great switch.

Great little switch to have on hand. I had an older D-link die after a power outage and I bought this one to replace it. I already have another one of these elsewhere in the house and it's been going strong for about a year now.

I've used DLink products for years and they have always performed flawlessly. I've used their 8-port and 5-port switches at home along with their wireless gaming router. When it came time to replace aging 10/100 Linksys switches in the office, Dlink was at the forefront.Highly recommended for everyday home or office use.

Cons: A CD is included with a network switch. I know it is to save paper (manual is on the CD), but damn, it is at least as bad for the environment. Put a little paper with the manual URL instead...

Pros: Fast Gigabit
Comment:
Great product, in fact it is faster than my 2 computers with an X-over cable. Don't ask me why, I didn't understand yet, but FTP binay connection between too give now 66 mbytes/s (650 mbits) now, it was about 50 mbytes before...

Bought this switch for my homenetwork to connect my file server to my desktop and for whatever else I eventually add. Made a good bridge for Gbit speeds between the two machines while having it conencted to my old WRT54G for wireless.

Bought this to split a connection from my D-Link DIR-655 to accommodate my Xbox 360 and PS3. Even though the Xbox only has a 10/100 NIC, I've noticed a big improvement in speed when streaming movies from my PC. All in all, another great unit from one of the best makers of networking products.Oh, and the power saving feature is kinda cool too I guess. :)

We ordered two of these to replace two aging Linksys 10/100 switches. I've used DLink in the past and have always been happy with their products so this purchase was a no-brainer. Good buy and highly recommended.

This router is so simple because all you have to do is connect all your clients to ports 2-5 and have the source on port 1.Once connected, rebooted the switch and all clients were connected to the network.Using this as a split for a home network and it has never caused any problems what so ever.Highly recommended for the price

This is a great product. I bought the D-Link DNS-323 NAS and needed something to connect my PC to it through Gigabit to get the best performance. This is probably one of the best switches I have ever used. I would strongly recommend this product.

This is the 4th 1005D 5 port D-Link switched I've purchased. I like the old grey look better than the new white look. It's an excellent switch. Very fast. Never had a problem.

Cons: Limited to utilizing 4 ports.

Pros: Indicates different lights for different speeds.Dependable, Gigabit speed on LAN, small, and incredibly light.Doesn't matter what kind of cable you use. Cross-over cable not required; though, you can still use that if you wanted to.
Comment:
I've been using this excellent D-Link switch for over two months with my 10Mbps connection. Haven't had a single problem. Before, I used a massive hub. The thing was a brick. It was a pleasant surprise to move to this lightweight switch. If your ISP offers you more than one IP, then just plug this in to the modem and share the internet--that's it, no software configuration needed.

Cons: Only 5 plugs

Pros: It just plain works
Comment:
Used as a drop-in replacement for an ageing 10mbit hub, which had one of it's 6 plugs broken, so the 5 plugs was not a drawback, although it could be seen as one. 1Gbit mode works, but for the most part 100mbit is all I've used it for. That being said, as a replacement for the hub, it's been great. It's not the only way to go about things, but it works. I probably wouldn't be able to successfully operate my 14ish computer network without it. I would recommend this along with a gnu/linux router for anyone looking for a quick way to connect a small network together.Oh and the 'cable test' feature is really cool. No longer will I have to deal with craptastic used ethernet cabling; I'll simply test them with this switch, now.

Comment:
I upgraded my home network to gigabit (approx 8 PCs accross 3 floors) with 3 of these switches, one for each floor. Setup was literally instant. They worked off the bat with a combination of 100 and 1000 mbps nics. Some cable runs easily over 100+ ft with no problems. Works perfectly. Highly Recommended.

Excellent switch if you're looking to connect multiple computers (of differing speeds) together. However, if you're looking for something truly universal, I would recommend the D-Link wireless gaming router (DGL-4300).
