Lots of range in my 1500 square foot home. Wireless is as swift as wired net in my opinion. Was capable to set schedule for little ones devices. Functions with every little thing-PS3, iPod, access point, old and new laptops, wireless multifunction, PSP, etc. Great safety attributes. No lag in on-line games. Bright blue LEDs; simply cured minor irritation. I initially had a bit of trouble with this router, then realized I had not removed ALL of the clear plastic film covering the vents. If you are obtaining difficulty check it closely all more than for missed film. If all the vents are not clear it causes heat concerns and the signal drops out. I also stood mine on end to improve air circulation. I identified the LEDs distracting so I covered them with a piece of black electrical tape, which blends suitable in with the router's look. You can not inform I altered it in any way except no blue lights.

easy setup, great variety and speed. i Turned off QoS and factors are alot more rapidly. none This is a good wireless router. connection speeds is higher in games but no lag at all with the new unit. i upgraded from a ten럼 wired network to this unit. This is the secon unit i purchased. this is a various hardware version than the other 1. do not let all the options freak you out. just go via them and when you are content with it make a back up of the configuration and save it to your regional machine/fileserver and so forth.

????? If you reset it it will perform for a great 5min or so???? Numerous issues. It turned my 12MǗM web into 1.87M/.04M. And pings on my extremely old D-link where 30ms but put this 1 on and can't get bellow 200ms(not great for a gamer). ten럼񲿘 but there's no 100, so all my ten럼 devices run at 10M. I will create a new evaluation when I get the new 1 back from newegg but this a single gets a 1 egg since it was useless. Also Newegg, you will need to transform the RMA policy so we don't have to spend for return shipping on defective items. I've had multiple occasions exactly where I purchased one thing from newegg since it was ฟ cheaper and then had to RMA it loosing my savings and time.

Fantastic variety. Robust signal. Relatively uncomplicated to set up manually. Runs cool. DHCP is broken - can't keep wired and wireless IP addresses in the IP address pool without having doubling them up. Took some work to get it hooked up to ISP - necessary the ISP to remotely reset my modem ahead of I could connect. User interface lacks characteristics that enable for far more detailed setup in some regions. This is a good router for coverage. The variety and signal strength is a lot much better than my old Linksys. On my unit, the DHCP was flat out broken. I have a little Active Directory domain network in my residence with six clientele. I was regularly getting IP address conflicts and something I had to make DHCP reservations just to get some clientele to behave. Finally, I moved DHCP back to my server and now every little thing flies. I also had to have my ISP reset the cable modem ahead of I could get this to connect. Far more eggs if this had been a little more plug and play

Fast, decent variety but nevertheless had to get a d-hyperlink extender across a 2100 sq ft residence with three wall in involving, Quick, When the pc is proper subsequent to this point it wont stop the flow. I know its asking alot but I just wish it had been eaiser to set up a password on a router. Why cant you just go into a bios setting on the unit? why do you have to go to five thousand screens praying windows gets it suitable. I got it working but still WAY to difficult. more of a windows difficulty Finding 2.five megs a second off steam even though streaming hulu plus and surfing craigs list. Im employing all d-hyperlink gear so that aids but man, this factor rocks. I have a handful of difficulties with droping signal but not when its correct next to the personal computer

Uncomplicated to set up and 1 of the greater firmware's I've seen. I had a Linksys just before this and it just kept dropping out. I assumed mainly because we have 3+ computer systems on the router at all occasions plus 2 PS3's from time to time. This router keeps up just fine. Only time I will need to reboot is when the low-cost modem I got from the ISP loses connection. Captcha for sign in but I guess it's a necessary evil. Wonderful router and I suggest gamers obtain it. My connections are far better with this router than the WRT Linksys. Sad but correct. I in no way had a lot of luck with the Linksys routers anyway.

Appears nice. Makes a good paperweight. This router constantly drops my internet connection. It's just about assured to drop the connection when I attempt to upload photographs or video -- even a single photo to FB. It has all the present firmware and I've tried just about every trick I can uncover on the internet to prevent this from taking place. Nothing has worked. Luckily, I have an old Dlink 615 sitting around that had none of these concerns.Think about another router till Dlink gets it collectively with this one particular.

Cons: Three antennas but unit is still stricken with short range due to being a single band router,

Pros: Works out of the box but is also easily configured.

Although this is a good router, right now you can buy a dual band WD900 on sale for $79, or spend more and go all out with a higher end ASUS RT-N66U. Idiot proof and more power and range.

It performs. It was somewhat uncomplicated to set up. I hate the D-Link net search if it gets a terrible URL from a browser. And it's a royal PITA to turn it off. The N frequency truly does enable at going farther distances. I live in an older household with plaster and lathe walls, and the D-link genuinely punches via much better than my prior wireless router, helping me take pleasure in stronger WiFi signals across the home.It also doesn't appear to call for power-cycling as typically either and will go for weeks before needing a really hard-reset. General a incredibly strong item.

Gigabit LAN, Worked good prior to firmware update, USB Port for Network HDD or Printer This product was great till I upgraded the firmware. Horrible speeds at random instances of the day making use of wireless connection. I thought it was my ISP fault till I plugged in by way of LAN. Just pinging the router by way of wireless would get me latency instances over 1000ms and frequent packet loss. I've notice it occur when streaming media or playing On the web games. This point is garbage now since I can\'t reverse Firmware update. Steer clear of this product Keep away from this itemKeep away from this ItemKeep away from this Product

It performs excellent; no dropped connections; amazing range. All the characteristics you could ever want in a newer single band router. It seems really nicely built and the internet interface is really clean and professional. Good price; on sale. None so far. This replaced a cheapo router that began dropping wireless connections all the time. I chose this 1 solely based on Newegg reviews. In basic it's fantastic to devote a little bit more and get some thing that performs.

Finest router I have ever owned or worked with (not like enterprise equipment). It's been operating as an access point in my residence for about 2-three years now, and I've had to reboot five occasions at the most. Fantastic coverage, very good settings and net interface. Has excellent throughput on wireless when coupled with a N card. I can't marry this router. Get this.

Lots of features, filters, efficiency (when working adequately). Perhaps I have a negative unit, but all my wireless devices get an extremely slow information rate ྐྵ-40mbps), even when signal strength is one hundred%! Immediately after following installation CD and setting up 3 wireless clients, I noticed that my wifi customers had been slower now than with the old 802.11g router I replaced. Even the 802.11n clients had been slower. I placed a 802.11n laptop appropriate subsequent to the router (verified one hundred% signal employing the router tools) and nevertheless the max price I get is 45Mbps, when it really should be much more than 6-7 times that! When I disabled auto channel scan and set the channel width to 20 (instead of auto 20ኄ), I was able to get much better speeds ࿫-120mbps), but it's still not very good adequate. This router should have significantly more rapidly speeds correct out of the box for the typical user out there. This tends to make me suspect a bad unit. Will RMA with Newegg soon.

This router has run 24ǝ for numerous months without having any hick-ups. I was initially sketchy given the lack of 3rd party firmware (dd-wrt, tomato, etc...), but I'm happy to be verified incorrect. The internet interface is effortless adequate to deal with for persons devoid of networking practical experience. For these who know what they're performing there's a plethora of customization alternatives readily available. I haven't gotten complete gig speeds ever (though I have gotten close); network streaming, while transfering files, has never missed a beat. At this value point, I was pleasantly shocked by the functionality level. Those blue lights are really hard to ignore. Although it is assuring that the router is working, it is distracting. This model doesn't help dual band. The model that does was considerably far more pricey, and not worth the further expense in my situation. An excelent smaller home router. There are enough ports for a desktop, server, and two laptop computer systems to all run at once. The USB port is a bit of a gimick. I can't see most users obtaining the value out of it unless D-hyperlink releases a firmware that allows for NAS, or printers start off focusing on quality more than additional capabilities. Yeah you can get a inexpensive USB printer, but the ink will price you much more than a new printer; affordable printers run via ink like it was water in the desert.

Does it's job. Lots of alternatives to play with if you like or need to. QoS if you game - I no longer have to shut down my torrents when I game on the web. Stable. I have the Rev B hardware. Nothing at all that I've run into with my experiences. The Shareport feature doesn't seem to operate. It requires a firmware upgrade that doesn't seem readily available for this model. And it needs software on any Pc that desires to use the Shareport function. Not marking this as a con due to the fact I never actually had any attention of using it. I was just bored a single day looked into it and realized it was balls.

Why Intelligent Qos Is Better
With some routers, all wired and wireless traffic, including VoIP, Video Streaming, Online Gaming, and Web browsing are mixed together into a single data stream. By handling data this way, applications like video streaming could pause or delay. With D-Link?s Intelligent QoS Technology, wired and wireless traffic is analyzed and separated into multiple data streams. These streams are then categorized by sensitivity to delay, so applications like VoIP, Video Streaming, and Online Gaming are given priority over Web browsing. This enables multiple applications to stream smoothly to your TV or PC.

Advanced Network Security
The Xtreme N Gigabit Router supports the latest wireless security features to help prevent unauthorized access, be it from over a wireless network or from the Internet. Support for WEP?, WPA?, and WPA2? standards ensure that you will be able to use the best possible encryption regardless of your client devices. In addition, this Xtreme N router utilizes Dual Active Firewalls (SPI and NAT) to prevent potential attacks from across the Internet. Delivering best-in-class performance, network security, and coverage, the Xtreme N Gigabit Router (DIR-655) is the ideal centerpiece for your wireless network in the home or office.

With broadband internet being adopted in more homes each and every day, the idea of a home network becomes more enticing. As many households have more than one PC, the easiest and most popular way to share the home?s internet connection, as well as provide easy access to files on all connected PCs, is through a home network. This can be achieved through the use of a high-quality router such as the D-Link DIR-655 Xtreme Gigabit Router.

As simple an idea as this is, there are plenty of choices out there, each with their own slew of advantages and disadvantages. The most popular by far is the wireless network. With notebook PCs being as prevalent as they are; it only makes sense to set up a wireless home network if you are going to take the time to set one up in the first place.

The D-Link DIR-655 Xtreme Gigabit Router comes. It apparently can operate up to 14 times the speed and six times the range of an equivalent wireless G product because it is a draft 802.11n compliant device. It is also compatible with 802.11g and 802.11b networks. This device also offers gigabit LAN ports to keep up with your gigabit network which basically means that the data is smoothly transferred when the data gets to the router which then sends it to other networked computers. You can also see that the DIR-655 is certified to work with Microsoft Windows Vista Operating System.

Moving onto the DIR-655 itself, the glossy white finish gives the router a classy look. The triple antennas on the back should provide a strong enough signal for almost anyone. With a single logo on the top, the DIR-655 has a clean look that should fit in almost anywhere. Along the front, there are a number of lights to signify power, activity status, internet status, WLAN, WCN (USB wireless network setup) and 4 wired port LEDs. Looking around at the back, there is a large yellow sticker covering up the ports and stating that before you connect anything to the router, the setup disk should be ran first. When removed, we see the four gigabit Ethernet ports positioned between two of the three antennas. Moving over, we get to the internet port. This is where the cable from the modem is going to go into. Beside it is a USB port. This can either be used as a print server port as well as a place to use your wireless network setup thumb drive. To the right of the USB port, there is a reset button and the power jack.

The DIR-655 includes all the latest and advanced network security features including 128-bit encryption; WEP, WPA, and WPA2 security protocols; SPI (Stateful Packet Inspection) and NAT (Network Address Translation) firewalls. These security features will prevent unauthorized access over a wireless network or from the Internet.

With D-link?s Intelligent QoS technology, it prioritizes both wired and wireless Internet traffic to enable an enhanced online gaming, browsing and communication experience. It is ideal also for streaming HD video or multiple applications simultaneously.
