Cons: A more recent configuration (Intel Atom) should be appreciated.

Pros: Performance, silent, too much stockage!
Comment:
A very good NAS for those need more than 6to or mirroring their configuration. With de Lan compatibility it is quickly accessible.

Cons: Slow, a bit noisy, web interface in SLOW and a little confusing.

Pros: Small, afordable, front display is great, looks like a quality build.
Comment:
This unit is great if you don't need to much performance and you're ready to configure a little bit by try&error as the interface is not so clear at first.I'm actually copying my file on a RAID 5 at 10 mbit/sec, and the unit is directly connected from the computer to the device (I've managed to configure static IP to do so).So it's not fast, but if you mostly need it for small backup, like if you're a programmer like me, that's just nice, and affordable.I could not tell you much about the reliability as I only own this unit for 4 days now.

Cons: * Transfer speeds to the Device Cap out at 10.2 Megs a sec over a Gigabit network with Jumbo frames turned on using a 12" Cat6E Network cables connected to my DGS-1024D.* Just like the DNS-323 it has a Loud Fan* Can get a little toasty, mine sits around 50c / 111f* Isn't a True Gigabit device* Tech Support is a Joke from what I can tell the few times I had to call in. The agent I talked with had no idea the difference between a router and a switch. She also sounded like she was a robot reading off what was on her screen and I also had to repeat myself more times that I would like to admit. I wanted to jump through the phone and start showing her how to use her computer just so I could end up resolving my issue. I gave up on D-Links so called Tech support and just Googled my issue and within 5 minuted I found and resolved the problem I had unlike the Hour I spent on the phone with D-Link with only to end up hanging up on them because DLinks agent had no clue.

Pros: *Does Raid 5*Supports up to 4x 2TB Drives with no issues with the latest firmware update
Comment:
The DNS-343 like the DNS-323 (which I also own) are great little devices, since I recently filled up my DNS-323 with 2x WD Green 1.5TB Drives I picked up the DNS-343 with 4x 2tb WD Green drives. My entire network runs through the DGS-1024D and which is then connected to a D-Link DIR-825 router. I use all CAT6E cables.Transfer speeds between computers (using WD Green Drives I can get between 60 - 90+ megs a sec) However Transfering files to and from these DNS-323 and DNS-343 will cap out well under 15megs a sec.For storing Multimedia content like HD Movies, Music and Photos to stream to a HTPC case they do the job well and with the built in Raid options you be rest at ease knowing that your Data will be safe. However if your looking for a way to transfer files faster between computers faster you may just be better off and getting the Drobo and then sharing it on a computer over the network.I'm giving this device 3 Stars because they sell these devices as 10/100/1000 and they are NOT. I'm Happy with the device, it does what I want it to do and its small enough that I can simply put it in the closet with the rest of my servers ans networking gear. However maybe next time Dlink is thinking about slapping the 10/100/1000 sticker on a device they will make sure it can support those speeds.

Although a little pricey, I do love this little baby, because of what it does. It gives you Raid in different versions. Easy setup and no problems yet. If your doing a web ftp it's not free but an affordable premium price yearly of thirty bucks.

This is the best device out there for the price and number of bays. I've purchased 2 of them for extreme redundancy first one running at RAID 0 for performance and the second one holding all data from the first as a backup. not one issue yet.

I purchased this product 2 months ago and have been totally happy. I recieved the product within 2 days of ordering and had it set up that evening. The setup instructions are easy to follow and seem to be very complete. To longest part of the process was waiting for the drives to format. I installed 4 500GB harddrives in RAID5. After the overhead for raid, OS, FTP and print servers I had over 1.4 TB of usable storage space. I use it to share media files and documents across my home network with no issues.

Bought this a few months ago. Does most of what I expected it to do. It is flawless in its network file sharing capability. I have Ubuntu, Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7 machines as well as two OSX systems, all work extremely well with this NAS. Most recent firmware includes Vista 64bit support. My favorite feature is the iTunes music server which is one of the primary reasons I bought it. Only 4 stars because I couldn't get the UPS monitor or the Print Server functionality working with my setup. Otherwise the device is rock solid and has been running almost continuously for 7 months without freezing or crashing.

Cons: Does not support 1.5tb drives in raid 5 (supposedly in next firmware release)Gets a bit warmgigabit transfers not as fast as it should be

Pros: Small, compact and easy to install and manage the device.Drives are easy to install, no cables required to connect
Comment:
I bought this with 4 x 1tb seagate drives and configured into a raid 5 volume giving me 3tb of useable disk space. The web interface is fairly well organized and quite easy to navigate and intuitive to use. My main beef with this unit is the transfer speeds, on a 100mb network, i would get around 9-10megabytes per second, on a gig network, it would only go up to around 15megabytes/sec. I didn't enable jumbo frames as my switch does not support it, so it might be better. Overall though, nice compact device, and it looks pretty good too.
