I wanted to run another 3-monitor setup on a rig that is primarily for home video editing.First machineHD6850 - running 2 x 21" DVIHD6450 - running 1 x 21" DVISecond MachineHD78702 x 24" DVI1 x 37" VGA (LCD TV)Instead of using another low end card, I decided to get a DP adapter which would allow 3 monitors directly connected to the HD7870. I didn't actually need an "Eyefinity" approved adapter, but it's a feature that is nice to have if I should ever require it in the future.I tested eyefinity using this adaptor for both the 6850 and 7870 and it worked without any issues, flickering or blankingBoth variations work for me without any issues although the 6850 (Gigabyte 6850OC) plus 6450 combination seem to be drawing as much power (if not more) than what the single 7870 was using while at the same time providing less GPU performance.My only gripe (not product related) was when I actually went in-store to purchase the DP adapter. I was actually looking for a different brand (sku 55259). I showed the sales rep the actual product and sku using my phone and he said it was out of stock at their location - even though it showed stock availability at branch (Richmond Aberdeen)as 21 units.I Didn't argue. Works simply and beautifully to easily add that third monitor. A big plus is that it is one of the few adapters recomended by AMD for use with an Eyefinity setup.
