fantastic specs, massive heat sink keeps it cool, handles gaming like a champ poor for standard video, lots of pixelation particularly in dark scenes, triggered humming sound via my speakers. I have normally been loyal to Nvidia cards but bought a single of these mainly because of the price and published specs. I am both a gamer and a media center enthusiast. On gaming this card was great. Even so, for normal video I believed it was terrible. I record HDTV shows and satellite with Snapstream Beyond Tv and then stream recorded and live Tv about my house with BTV Hyperlink. Video from recorded or live HDTV shows was horrible incredibly pixelated. In dark scenes pixels were really apparent and did not "blend" effectively at all from 1 shade to one more. Consider of booting into safe mode in Win98 days if VGA defaulted to eight bit color. (not that negative but it was the finest way I could describe it). I returned it and got an EVGA GTX 460. it's just a tiny bit slower, was ุ cheaper and all the problems are gone. Great gard if you had been carrying out ONLY gaming I guess but it didn't match my wants.

Booted up first time without any dilemma. Runs silent and cool. Runs as great as any other 6850. The voltage tweaks enables for much more flexibility although OCing. Though I haven't attempted it however. A single minor con that almost made me knock off an egg. The DVI ports are mislabeled on the mounting bracket. The DVI port next to the HDMI/DP is marked DVI-I/VGA and the a single above DVI-D but in truth its the other way about. Using the incorrect port on a monitor cable of 2560 x 1600 will limit you to 1920 x 1200 max. May bring about some confusion at 1st but doesn't have any lasting consequence even though it does make a single wonder how one thing like that got item testing/quality assurance. This operates great for my desires. I don't game (morally against it...), but as an alternative I really feel off the gaming sector for high functionality pc gear for physics investigation. This runs great in Ubuntu. Handles an eight desktop, dual monitor setup without having a glitch, or skip, or something. The curves are very good and good, and added a quite aesthetically pleasing addition to my physics analysis practical experience. None. It took me forever to figure out drivers in Ubuntu. That's not the cards fault, more of a linux difficulty. But it runs wonderful when the drivers are figures.

Very good cooling. Meets expectations. Don't like that the 6 pin connectors are on the side. Choose them to be on the back but I guess it's to save area. Desires to be ษ cheaper to be a lot more competitive. Card isn't genuinely that massive compared to other high finish cards. The cooler keeps it at 35c idle and it was a Large upgrade from my 6800 Ultra. The package is incredibly good so it's really simple not to throw it away. Newegg rocks as usual.

Can run just about every game on max settings with zero lag. Great functions. Massive. However, most newer cards are very big. It can also run a bit hot - practically nothing that a decent case and the fan can't manage although. 6850 drivers can get pretty buggy - practically nothing the new 6870s can't fix. If you're going to purchase this, make positive to get a case that a) has adequate airflow, b) can in fact fit it.

Lovely card, good reviews/specs. I've had the card a couple days now along with a Rosewill 700W PSU and the GPU seems to be DOA. I have cleared my old video drivers, installed the new ones from the CD (then once more from AMD's CCC newest version) and the card is in a compatible PCIe X16 slot (which ran my old graphics card fine) with the proper 2 6pin connectors. At startup, the program attempts to boot from teh PCI slot as directed by BIOS and soon after a couple attempts, resorts to the integrated VGA. Device manager shows absolutely nothing about the card, nor is it recognized by any 3rd celebration software program but the fan on it is spinning. Possibly the PSU, while unlikely considering that I have applied each six pin connectors on it and the six pin to four pin connector. Not most likely all of them are negative. Want I could have dropped a fantastic critique about this stunning, but bulky card. Manufacturer Response:Dear Valued Buyer,We apologize for the problem you are experiencing with this graphics card. I've designed case quantity 1199940 for you regarding this problem. - Great efficiency for the cash.- Quiet at idle, doesn't get that loud when loaded either.- Unbeatable for low energy/heat/noise.- Don't require a enormous energy provide. - No large cons.- Doesn't exhaust air out of case, but still works fine in my little, tight case.- Can't appear to undervolt with SmartDoctor, only overvolt. Yes, there are now two energy connections on the V2. Mine's operating fine making use of just 1. I doubt the second is required unless you're overvolting and overclocking. Can't beat the 6850 for reduce-powered systems. My complete technique is employing less than 250W beneath complete load (with an Athlon 4850e 45W CPU).

Good and quite. Seems to be in a position to do whats ask of it! Huge!!!!. Printed manual could be a a bit much more informative. Do they genuinely need to have to kill 6 trees to package this point :). One heck of a card. Like I said above, It's large. I haven't attempted to "tinker" with this yet and I don't intend to. Only when my flight sims commence to loose their FPS's will I contemplate tweaking! It comes with a good small CD/DVD holder

I was searching for a near-silent VGA card. Impossible to know if a card is silent primarily based on testimonials here mainly because the definition of "silent" is very subjective. So, due to the very good value, the rebate and mainly because it was a new model, also mainly because I have been an ATI user for a lengthy time, I ordered this card. When it arrived and I tested it, I heard a noise that bothered me. I am not naive to the point that I would expect something possessing a fan spinning at 1k rpm to be dead silent, but I have currently assembled four computers, over the previous ten years, and I know what to anticipate from a close to-silent card. I count on that, when idle (which implies, most of the time, in my case), I want it to have that really soft sound of air, just air getting blown, no sound of electrical buzz. Like a Noctua fan! Properly, this card doesn't reduce it. The small noise it produces at the minimum speed (idle) is adequate to bother me, so I contacted newegg and they kindly accepted the return. Continues in "Cons" below. Soon after even sending the card back, I then ordered an MSI GTX 560Ti that also has just been released (actually, it a little newer than the Radeon 6850). I was afraid that obtaining two fans alternatively of one would make it much more probable to also have noise. The excellent news is that when I tested the MSI board, I was relieved and pleased. These two fans make just the small air noise that I was expecting in my new computer system. What I have noticed is that suppliers are now currently bundling their cards with great cooling solutions, most of them, and as a consequence, the right after-marketplace VGA coolers for these new VGA boards are almost extinct. In the past, my previous three computers, I didn't bother when the VGA card had some weird noise (when idle) simply because I could acquire an right after-industry cooler and select what ever very good fan I wanted. It appears this is no a lot more. Even the handful of right after-marketplace VGA cooler still existent for the newer cards do not enable you to switch the fan so you are stuck with theirs.Cont So, concluding this extended critique, I am genuinely glad to have discovered the MSI card. This ASUS card is almost certainly very good adequate for 95% of the persons, but it is not for the finicky like me, that actually wants near-silent solutions.I am not reviewing all other elements of the video card. I don't know enough about it. This review is only about the level of noise created by it.Thank you, newegg.

Quite lovely card with superb packaging. I seriously felt that I was obtaining what I paid for as I unboxed this card. Mine came DOA, and the automated process is telling me I have to eat about a quarter of its price to send it back. The fan spins, but doesn't output any display whatsoever in two diverse rigs. And I essentially have the power connectors for this bad boy on my PSU, not to mention a lot more than enough wattage. This is a extremely big card, about the size of the sole of a excellent-sized shoe. Also, it demands two of the 2x3 energy supply energy lines. If you don't have these, the card comes with two Molex adapters. If you power this factor completely with Molex, be ready to use 4 of them (two per adapter). Hate to give such a great-seeking piece of tech just 1 egg, but hey, it does totally nothing at all. Manufacturer Response:Dear Valued Client,We sincerely apologize that you received this card DOA. I've produced case quantity 1163301 for you relating to this challenge. Please make contact with us at 812-282-2787 and offer the case quantity above so we can pre-test a replacement for you as soon as feasible.Sincerely,ASUS Assistance Team

WOW. Extremely impressed with this GPU. Really effective for the price tag. Really nicely packaged and comes with points some other producers do not incorporate. I personal a 6970 and bang for the buck has got to be one of these 6850's. This is not a 5870,6870,6950, or 6970. If you need to have the absolute raw power of these cards and have deep pockets pick one of these cards. As stated on the description of item runs particularly cool even with some modest overclocks and overvoltages. Super impressed this gpu can withstand and remain totally cool. I cannot wait to test out two of these cards in crossfire. Often you get what you pay for and quite confident your receiving what you spend for from ASUS.

Quiet, low power draw. Good frame rates in most games with moderate settings. Faulty HDMI connector. Causes a horizontal band of displacement in movies and quickly moving video. NOT a outcome of settings (e.g. interlacing, refresh rate, and so on). I have this connected by means of DVI to my 24" LCD monitor with no problems. But going to my HT receiver any moving video displays an annoying displaced band of video that slowly scrolls down the screen. When connected via a DVI to HDMI converter or the on board 4290 IGP on the motherboard, no troubles. I most likely have a undesirable board and Asus' web site for RMAs is confusing to say the least. As usual, no troubles with Newegg due to the fact I didn't truly find out this till properly right after any sort of return could be expected.

-6850: Will run any existing game at high settings with at least decent frames. 3D technology. Just ridiculously fast. Eyefinity. Typical HDMI. Films look a lot nicer than with my core i3 integrated HD.-ASUS: Pre-clocked at 790mhz. Pretty decent heatsink. Fits in my NZXT Vulcan.-Cost: I got mine when they were release for 赲. I didn't thoughts. Now that it's less expensive I encouraged every person get this card. Not ment to play every thing at 1080p. This issue gets pretty warm. Even with the fan at 70% and 6 case fans this factor will get up to 60c on load easily. Rests at 40-45c. This is expected with most newer cards but it's nonetheless inconvenient.-ASUS: Driver disk is entirely useless. Do not use ASUS application to OC this factor! As extended as you aren't upgrading from a GTX460 or HD5830 (which is silly) you will not be disappointed with this card. It will play BFBC2 maxed out with no lag at all. BE Very Careful OVERCLOCKING THIS CARD. This point is currently fairly hot. Unless you want to get an aftermarket cooler (or graphic distortions) I would say don't overclock it at all! You genuinely don't have to.

Wow! Great graphics! Runs WoW on ultra with quite tiny jitter (well, immediately after I uninstalled GameOSD).Decent price tag.Is extremely swoopty-searching. Can't use two VGA monitors with this card, even with adapters. It will only recognize a VGA with a single of the ports. There is a DVI-D and a DVI-I port. Perhaps I just missed it in the description... but I was Quite vexed when I ended up getting to acquire a new DVI monitor so I could have my dual monitor setup back! I'm not decreasing an egg, due to the fact it could be my own darn fault for missing a element of the description. But beware if you're running with numerous VGAs that you'll need to replace one particular if you get this VC. The fan is a bit louder than I'd like, but I'm confident I'll get employed to it.

The card runs amazing with exception to an issue I list beneath. Lovely graphics, runs every little thing I throw at it on max settings, Crisis, Globe of Warcraft, GW. Has some OC potential to it that i haven't actually toyed with but even though it appears real basic with utilities that are out there. Ok, this is an ASUS associated challenge I identified that seemingly relates mainly to Globe of Warcraft and I list it right here due to the fact I spent nearly 5 hours attempting to figure it out. Gamer ODS. Uninstall it. That is if your frame rates seem to be high, and your camera doesn't like to move, adjust or otherwise operate generating it seem like your in 3rd world graphics, even though the pictures are crisp. Immediately after a multitude of difficulty shooting, driver updats and adjustments, deleting of drivers, bios updates and so on.... everything brief of a full OS reinstall I discovered an write-up on tomshardware that indicated the situation was connected to the way WoW calls upon a thing that ODS doesn't like, or in some way conflicts. By uninstalling it, voilla! Yes the difficulty was gone and all was appropriate inside the globe.....of warcraft. (yes I went there). So everybody understands, this may well be a somewhat isolated issue, as it was only in WoW.......cont'd beneath I assume that due to the truth I was unable to locate the data in drones, indicates it is an isolated incident and not many customers practical experience it. The card was installed in a new develop that literally had practically nothing but the windows 7 64 bit OS and the drivers from the numerous utilities included with the MOBO (also ASUS) and GPU and the like. So it lost one egg due to the fact that a utility I don't require conflicted with one plan I use, and genuinely, 5 eggs are for the "blow me away" category. This card had me baffled and practically RMA'd until the aforementioned came to light. Delight in the card, its worth it.
