Instructions do not include Win7. Never used Vista, but inst seem to be near Win7 Fair to good fit and install fit. Everything included for hookup. Once setup appears to work fine. Will have to try on another pc OS to see for sure. Will get another if need arrises. Only prob was bott thumb screw hole had no threads, kept it anyway.

This enclosure works simply great. Just plug in the drive and plug it in to the computer. It is really nice that it features both SATA and IDE. Quick Transfers, easy set-up, doesn't heat up very much. Cant beat the price or deal.

Quick and easy access to an 3.5 drive. Could have used some rubber feet or a stand to protect from the thumb screws.

This is a great little enclosure. It is simple and quite functional for both IDE and SATA. Even without a cooling fan it dissipates heat rapidly through the aluminum case. A great buy for the money.

I bought this for a friend, whose computer I was working on. I have an old Sabrent that has been serving me for years, but this one takes both types of hard drives, is ventilated, and has a power switch. My old one gets pretty warm when in use. I am jealous of my friend!

This enclosure is pretty straight forward. It works great I have only one complaint. The sata plug is pretty thin plastic and part of it broke when I plugged it in. It still works great. For the price I'd buy another one if I needed more.

I have an older model from this same design and it has been great as is this one. My only complaint is that the 650 WD Caviar I put in it was difficult to fit due to the way the SATA cable lined up. Might not be lined up that way on other brands of hard drive. Functionally it is rock solid so far.

Bought two units, one failed within 2 weeks the other failed in two months. When they worked, they performed as expected. The cases are nice, made of aluminum, but the internal electronics are of poor quality.

This is a great value, except that mine did not work when it arrived. It is machined out of aluminum pieces so I would imagine that if it worked, it should last a while. (Only in China could they produce something of solid metal, fill it with electronics and then deliver it to the US for less than $25) I got it to function for about 60 seconds by holding both plugs with two hands. It is going back and I won't be ordering a new one. Get a different one.

I purchased 3 of these enclosures. Two of them have quit working, the first within a month of purchase and the second six months later. The failure in both cases was the power supply.

I just thought it was a bit strange to have the activity light on the opposite end from the power & data connections. I have a thermaltake ide enclosure that is screwless. So I was dissappointed when I had to mount a drive in this case. I wouldn't call these stackable either. Hey but it works and it works well. Nice fast data transfers.

I am not a tech so I was apprehensive, but my desk top motherboard quit and I needed my data. Ordered and received item withend 48 hours. I was able to understand direction sheet and hook every thing up and recover my data to my newlap top. Beat having to take it to someone else and now I use it as a backup system. Live and learn. Thanks for all your reviews was the info I needed.

When I ordered this product I wondered if it would do what I excepted. IT DID and I have no trouble setting it up and installing a 160GB IDE harddrive to use for backup. It's nice to be able to back up my main computer to this drive.

This Hard Drive Enclosure is what I needed. I have my Seagate IDE 80GB HDD in it and it's working excellent. It is compatible with Linux as I'm using it on Ubuntu 8.04.1 and the file writing/reading has reached up to 25MB/s on my PC. I highly recommend this for everyone.

I purchased this today. I read the reviews prior to buying (thanks to posters). It worked well with a ST 250GB drive I put in. The case does not have a fan so I will need to keep an eye on the heat however, no fan = no noise. One post complains about the space, with my IDE drive, there was plenty of space, actually it is quite a bit bigger than my other two enclosures. Their is on on/off switch and connectors for SATA. The case is aluminum but until you get all the screws tightened it is a little wobbly. This will suite my need to have a drive to backup my photos. I have connected to both WinXP and Vista - no problems. But if you think you will need a manual ... you better get a different case, the manual is worthless. Note, remember to put your drive in Master mode before connecting.

This enclosure is poorly designed. There is barely enough room inside to sit the HD. The cables have to bend beyond an angle that I'm comfortable with in addition teh HD was forced to sit slightly angled because it made contact with the wire for the LED at the front.

There are some quality issues as identified in other reviews. The line cord connection is suspect, so if you are having power problems look here first. The enclosure hardware is lacking, while that employed for securing the HDD presented no problems so far. It looks like the tapped holes maybe the problem, but it does not prevent operation. The documentation is suspect. I have an XP operating system, so plug and play does all the work. However, I am still unclear as to how to disable the drive without fear of interrupting a write operation. This did happen once. I reviewed the documentation again, but still was unable to find the icon referred to as being in the tool bar, so now I power down the computer prior to disconnecting or turning off the enclosure. For a low cost enclosure, it's not bad. The aluminum is a good heat sink and keeps the drive cool.

I bought this enclosure for my 320gb Seagate SATA HDD. At first it worked fine, then the drive started to switch off on it's own. So I bought another enclosure different brand. Same thing started happening again after a few months. So I installed the SATA HDD in one of my computers, no problems. I did try this enclosure with a 300gb Maxtor IDE HDD and had no problems, worked like a charm. Also, the design of the case is great for ventalation but poor construction with the 4 screws to hold it together. TD replaced the first enclosure, same problem with the second enclosure with the screws. I gave up with the 4th screw and just use the other 3 screws to hold it together.
