Absolutely silent, e6700 idles at 35 C compared to 46 C with stock cooler, Far better then stock and it makes no noise installation took about 20 - 30 minutes but it was worth it Overall excellent heatsink for the value

Seriously nifty box, says its greater than the rest and appears to prove it. Atleast on the box. The Am3 socket bridging piece came with screws that were as well huge to match into it. If you have intel u will have no prob installing this cooler but for the AM3 you gotta find four thinner screws to get the entire point toghether. Practically had to drive 15 min back to the store! XD When your creating a product, attempt testing to see if it performs first.. Or if it even puts toghether right.. Geez!

Have observed my share of coolers more than the years. This cooler is of fantastic high quality and one of the quietest heatsinks around. Its does it's job and comes at a wonderful price tag. Very recommend! Installation can be tricky. Just make confident you take out your motherboard.

Low profile. Silent as it claims - Can not hear it more than case fans. Really very good cooling for its size/application goal. three copper heat pipes into aluminum fins is a excellent style. I utilized this on a new Sandy Bridge i5 construct on a micro ATX board in a Silverstone SG02 case. The stock intel HS was idling at 55 C and this dropped it to the 42 - 45 C range. A good improvement. I reversed the fan on the heatsink to pull instead of push down on the heatsink so that it would force air into the power supply above and out the back of the case. I think this alone helped drastically reduce the temp on the cpu. None truly. You do have to take out the motherboard to install the required backplate, which is type of discomfort, unless you have a case that gives you back access to the socket on the MB. This is a pain for some, but I'm not upset about it. Installation is uncomplicated, just take your time and adhere to the directions for your intended socket. When assembled, the fan/HS is about 65mm tall. This is just what I required for my application. Did not overclock nevertheless..The guy that said this was terrible for his i7-930 should have in no way used this heatsink/fan. I wouldn't use this thing on a 1366 board. This is for Low Profile machines in little circumstances where extra cooling is needed. A 1366 board ought to actually go in a bigger case and a bigger/more strong heatsink really should be employed. Know what you need and why you require it!The stock intel for sandy bridges񳁳 are garbage...

(relatively) affordable, (very) quiet, good high quality - not extremely powerful (keeps a stock X6 1055T at beneath 55C, perhaps more beneath load - I was expecting better cooling) - confusing directions - unbelievably difficult to mount on a AMD socket (probably less complicated on an Intel) If you want to cool an AMD and don't like to invest more than an hour mounting the cooler, look elsewhere. Also if you care about your blood pressure, ask some a single else to place the last 4 screws on (the ones connecting the radiator to the MB/CPU)Very good create high quality although, I wanted to give 4 eggs but the memory is as well fresh ...

Simple to install and take away. No far better than stock cooling on a core i7-930.

Cons: -Low Quality Heat Pipes

Pros: -Cheap-Nearly Silent-Quality Fit
Comment:
I bought this for a cheap better-than-stock nearly silent HTPC cooling solution and it fit the bill perfectly. It includes pretty high quality mounting hardware (all metal), at least for my Intel 1556 board. It fit on my MicroITX board and my MicroATX board without any clearance problems. The finish on the base was not mirror-perfect but it was pretty smooth. I did not feel the need to polish the surface. It also includes a decent silver-grade thermal paste. We're not dealing with a very expensive cooler here and it shows, the heat pipes seem to be hollow and only copper-coated. They may be real copper but they are definitely not solid copper as this cooler is very, very light. It does a decent job of keeping the temps down on my stock i3 HTPC but I'm not sure I would go crazy with overclocking using this cooler. Even at full speed the fan is very quiet. It includes a speed controller, but I don't see the point as I can not hear it with the case cover on, even when sitting next to the computer and the fan running 100%. All in all, a good low cost HTPC or low profile stock-speed cooler. Recommended.

it fits perfectly on my Core2 Duo LGA775. installing it was enjoyable and effortless for me. it came with all the parts needed to install including much more small screws and washers than are shown in the images, and some spare parts(screws , washers , rubbery fan mount)plus heat paste and fan speed controller.with the fan at a low speed so i can't hear it , it makes the CPU the coolest , quietest factor in the case.it is WAY cooler and quieter than the intel stock cooler neither new egg or silenx use hundred dollar bills as box stuffing in their shipping departments. :-( i didn't in fact take a ruler to it or anything but it is a little bit larger than i expected it to be.it fits in my rather little case no issue so i guess as lengthy as it fits it can be as major as it desires.this pc has been on about 12 hours now . i played some games this immediately after noon , at the moment idling about 15 degrees celsius above room temp.i can't picture it gets any greater than this for the price.

Quiet, cool, low profile. By low profile I mean the heatsink and fan alltogether is much less than three inches tall. A lot of room for my media PC. Sempron 3400+ idles at 29 degrees in a poorly ventilated HTPC. None genuinely. Typical gripe of having to eliminate the motherboard to install, but otherwise outstanding. Seems nice, fan looks to be of great good quality 1) Did not come with all the parts for AM3 mounting.2) It does not function with my MSI 870-G45 motherboard. The pegs for the backplate are too large for the stock cooler holes. The overall style seems pretty solid, but if you are using for an AM3 system, be careful. It cost me ฤ in shipping and return fees to find out that lesson.

Cons: Installation difficult with some chipsets

Pros: Low Profile, great cooling
Comment:
While this is nice for a very quiet HTPC in a low-profile case, it is difficult to install for the AM2/AM3 chipset. The included instructions are vague and difficult to follow. Most experienced users will have little issue with installation on most chipsets, and while the instructions are vague, there is plenty of help online. As for cooling, this thing works well and I would recommend. Ease of installation is the biggest downfall of this product.

Cons: Cost

Pros: Very nice mounting hardware (no push-pins). Very quiet fan. Includes voltage regulator/fan controller.
Comment:
Upgraded my HTPC (i3-530, H57, GD04) from the stock Intel cooler. The main thing I noticed was how much quieter this cooler is. In terms of performance, I haven't done any overclocking, so my temps are very reasonable (high twenties on light load, using the included thermal paste). I'm glad I picked this one of the Sythe, because the SilenX uses much more secure, screw-based mounting hardware.
