Worked perfectly on first try. Used on 2 separate computers with 2 different op systems, no problem. Quiet and I really like the cord storage slot. I don't give this high rating very often, but has a good one here. |

This was an awesome DVD ROM. A little on the loud side when reading at times but apart from that it was awesome. I really liked the little USB cable that was able to be stored underneath the drive which was really convenient for travelling which I do a lot. |

Lite-On has been around for a while, and I've always viewed them as mediocre because of some bad experiences with desktop cd rom drives (ya from the late 80s). I was pleasantly surprised with this drive, bought it for use with a netbook I bought recently. Drive was compatable, bootable, compact, and functional. I had to slipstream the windows disk to add drivers before I could actually reload OS, but the drive itself was very impressive for someone who went in with a low expectation. I've used it only on a flat surface while plugged in (AC power). By the look of it I don't think it's trying to be shock resistant or battery friendly. |

Works well with my wifes ACER netbook. Keep in mind though that accessing a DVD through a USB port is going to be slow. |

It's hard for me to review this item as it didnt get received for 4 weeks and when it did it didnt work. I contact tech support and they not only fixed the DVD ROM but fixed my DVD ROM on my computer- so I returned it!!!!! This is a great site though despite the difficulties I experienced !!!!!!! |

Purchased as companion to tiny Netbook computer running XP. Works perfectly installing software which is my requirement but also plays DVD's flawlessly (must download plug in for Win Media Player as Microsoft cannot include this application). Only con is, due to small size and low weight, vibration is noticeable and audible on hard surface. Weigh it down with book if it bothers you... or apply to lower back to ease pain while watching movie. |

Product would not play DVDs on a ASUS eeepc 10 with Windows XP, which is what I was hoping for. Can't write a review since I did not use the product. Sent it back for refund. |

Perfect size to sit on desk. Easy to use, just plug into USB port. |
Only problem is that the latch can be opened during operation, causing a possible safety problem. And, it is quite noisy when working at top speed. It makes a very loud, high-pitched whine when installing Windows. And, when they say ROM, they mean read-only device, no writing.
