Lightning quick SSD.Sandforce controller. My Windows 7 x64 boots up in record time.GSkill forums/support are fairly great for troubleshooting and general expertise, but in my case every thing is operating out the box. Only cons are that prices are nevertheless fairly higher, but they are coming down and SSD is where it's at for Computer upgrades that are seeking for the subsequent ideal way to increase overall performance of the Computer. If your price range can help it, I would extremely advise this item. 60GB is about the lowest capacity I'd go for a boot drive.Quite strong efficiency and the hype on SSD is legit. I'll never ever go back to a spindle.

This drive is quite quick compared to my older 7200 RPM desktop drive. The included three.five" adapter bracket is a nice touch. Low power consumption and silent operation. The drive barely gets warm. My boot up time is just seconds now! Value vs. storage space, but that's practically nothing certain to this specific drive. 60GB can get filled quickly, so be careful. Maintain a large capacity drive for other files. Make certain your OS has TRIM help to stop wear and tear.

I purchased two of these Phoenix Pro 60 drives (the 60GBP2 version) and installed Win 7 in minutes below a RAID1 set-up. Speeds had been great: 350 MB/s study and 250 MB/s write (I rounded these numbers off). The Windows 7 x64 default ACHI driver functions fine. The BIOS/RAID detection routine would FAIL to detect a single of the drives. I solved this challenge by changing the port assignments on my P658XD Premium SATA connectors. Once the drives had been on Port0 and Port1, the problem went away.On idle for about an hour, I came back to locate that one of the new Phoenix Pro SSD drives had died. Now with ACHI and the remaning 60 GB SSD, the laptop blinks a BSOD screen in the course of the Win 7 initialization right after I set up the Intel SATA II drivers. My 3 week old Phoenix Pro 60 SSD is at present only reaching 157 MB/s read and 60 MB/s create speed on my boot drive (using IDE). My week old Phoenix Pro 120 SSD is also sluggish: 176 MB/s study and 141 MB/s write (CrystalDiskMark three). I ran "HD Tune two.55" tests. Both of my G.Talent SSDs show peaks and valleys in the performance graph, where my Intel SSD shows a comparatively flat (consistent) overall performance line. My conclusion is that the G.Skill drives are poorly constructed. Here's my future program: I'm going back to RAID1 when the RMA arrives tomorrow. If the Phoenix Pro drives die or won't take the RAID drivers, I'm sending them BACK! Manufacturer Response:.Dear CustomerWe are sorry to hear yo uare getting such concerns. Please send the SSD in for replacement and the new drive ought to operate substantially greater. For optimum single drive performance, make confident to enable AHCI mode. With the most up-to-date drivers, your speeds need to be considerably greater. Really fast. WEI 7.five. It takes 10s to get to desktop, and I don't even see the welcome screen. Video drivers took 5s from the Set up click to the Finish click. You know the 40 updates that you get when you 1st set up windows?...properly all of them installed in 2minutes. The two.5" to three.five" adapter plate didn't match nicely in my case, I had to drill some holes but nothing terrible. There's a 2.1 firmware but I don't know if I ought to update it given that it's running smoothly anyways. I installed 2 systems in the past week, one with SSD and one with HDD. I could feel the one particular with HDD slowing down after few days but the SSD stays quick even following all the programs becoming installed.

other people say it's rapidly... The screws it comes with are 48 Threads per inch and truly short. To mount it in my case I had to drive all about my town attempting to find some longer ones to mount the holding bracket into my Antec 1200 case. ū and 4 screws later, I was in a position to secure the drive but only with 2 screws considering that the holes don't line up with regular HD mounting brackets... I was seriously excited about employing this SSD to install Windows and my applications on, but with it in the pc, I can't get previous BIOS and I updated the BIOS to the most recent. This happened when the SSD came bundled with the Motherboard. Manufacturer Response:.Dear ConsumerWe are sorry to hear you are possessing troubles with the SSD. The mounting bracket ought to bolt on to a chassis via its holes. The screws provided need to screw right into the mounting bracket to hold it in location. You ought to not require additional hardware, but we realize some circumstances may slightly differ. The replacement drive ought to work superior. Properly, right after doing a lot of analysis, I decided to take a opportunity and snatch a SSD. I do not have a AHCI MB. And let me inform you, IT DOESN'T MATTER!!! This factor is so quickly. I also bought Windows 7 to put on this negative boy and I am quite significantly so impressed. Every little thing is so rapidly and smooth. Quite noticeable. I'd like to consider upgrading from Vista had some thing to do with it to. Obtain IT! Its like going to Blu-Ray from VHS. You won't regret it. None so far. Like all the other evaluations, make confident you disable defrag. I left on indexing which was fine, and disabled hibernate, and moved my pagefile.sys to my other tough drive. Freed up 7 GIGS.

Rapid read/write but who didn't anticipate it? Not seriously a con, discomfort in rear to set up in my Antec P-183 case. I had to order screws from Antec that matched the thread on the bottom of drive. I really should have purchased either the 100GB or 120GB. Windows 7 and WoW take up 35 GB of space. 10ish is reserved by the OS/drive automatically. Moved temp directory to a metal drive. Uncomplicated installation (included 3.five" mounting plate), rapid (but a bit disappointing) seq/rand r/w speeds, quickly delivery from Newegg, nicely packaged by g.skill and newegg, cost was correct (贺 CAD). G.Ability support forum fairly good (though nowhere close to as much info - and chaos - as OCZ's). Newest firmware v2.1 causes "smart command failed" (and delay on boot) on my GA-H55M-UD2H motherboard. Instruction manual need to be a tiny bit far better. Sandforce controller has pros and cons. Do some reading so that you fully understand how it functions and what to anticipate. It's incredibly unique from the other SSD controllers. So far, I'm pleased with the drive, but was not blown away by the distinction among my mechanical HDD (a mere momentus 7200.4 @ 100MB/s r/w) and this SSD. Yes, it's absolutely all-around more rapidly and "snappier", but not the thoughts-blowing upgrade that so many have written about. Naturally it depends on what apps you run and how you use your Computer, and so forth. The firmware needs a bit of function/tuning (e.g. the Sensible error). I'm a bit disappointed w/ the sequential writes (under 100MB/s on a clean drive and about 70MB/s as soon as applied a bit), but you shouldn't be undertaking too substantially sequential writing on this low capacity SDD (o/s & applications). Sequential reads at 200MB/s are a delight (cut my backup times in half). General, I believe this drive is a very good worth at the price tag I paid, but at 赔+ (CAD) I would go with the Agility2/Vertex2/ LE. I purchased three of these for OS drives immediately after using a 120G version as a dual boot. All operating good. Great support from G.Skill. none Don't be shocked or disappointed when the drive does not benchmark soon after installing OS like it benchmarks with nothing on it. The "real planet" numbers may be reduced but the "real world" perfomance enhance is nonetheless staggering. And yes, I've done all the tweaks...The similar is true for a SandForce OCZ drive that I use for information storage only, so it's just a reality of these. So enjoy the massive performce boost and don't sweat the bench numbers soon after loading them up with data. Completely five stars.

Quiet, Incredibly Fast, Sufficient storage space/size, Uncomplicated Install, Normally good Newegg service,...... Noone came to the house to install it for me! I ordered the 60GB size and it delivers a lot of space for my major Windows 7 files and programs. Any programs that don't automatically load on my C drive I put on my normal HDD. An individual said don't put your pagefile on the SSD, large mistake! You'll want to put it there mainly because of speed, but I would go in and manually set a constant size for it so that Windows doesn't retain changing it. I'm so satisfied with this drive that I'm about to obtain yet another for my HTPC.

This issue is super fast, only have Windows and a couple other applications on this drive since its just 60gb, but Windows loads in seconds. Significantly far better than my old pc that requires forever to load. 60gb is sufficient to do windows and maybe a couple other programs or a game or two. Do not attempt installing steam on your ssd because all steam games have to be installed the exact same spot.
