Newegg came by means of. RMA'd the second board as well. Newegg has stepped up and RMA'd my second board. I'm willing to attempt a 3rd board as I nevertheless believe the layout and alternatives this mobo delivers will make a excellent unit.

- A lot of PCI and PCI-Express x1 slots- An IDE and FDD port- USB 3., DualBIOS, Dynamic Energy Saver (shuts off extra power phases when the CPU is idle to save power)- You can use the integrated graphics, or you can install a discrete graphics card (x16 slot)- Cool color. :-) - You can't hook up a DVI -> VGA adaptor to the DVI port, but this won't affect most folks (myself included).- No S-Video/RCA video out jacks, but I don't feel *any* H55 board has this, so not the board's fault.- Only one particular PSǘ connector. Appears to be very widespread these days even though. I wanted a board that had at least two PCI slots and at least two PCI-express x1 slots. This board has 3 PCI slots and 3 PCI-express x1 slots, PLUS it has an IDE and FDD port (yes, I nevertheless have IDE drives and a floppy drive), which is hard to locate.Note that in order to enable the Dynamic Energy Saver function you have to set up the Dynamic Power Saver two app. The app doesn't have to be running 24ǝ for the Dynamic Energy Saver feature to operate though, you just open it when you want to allow/disable it.A strong board; charges a bit much more than other folks but it's worth it in my opinion.

Assembled into a HTPC Silverstone SG05 case and the mixture worked quite nicely in terms of layout. Installed Win 7 64 bit, no problems seeing memory, Core i3 530 CPU, and so on. Great motherboard, very fantastic BIOS choices. HDMI worked flawlessly, I was concerned about this because this was employed in a HTPC. If you run into problems there is a excellent section on configuring the show ports in the customers manual - not that I study it ;) None 1. Not covering new ground here but remember to update the BIOS, mine was two versions behind when it arrived and install the drivers from the integrated CD for USB 3. ports, NIC, and so on.2. There is a BIOS setting to turn off the Gigabyte logo splash/boot screen in the sophisticated choices.three. When I 1st installed the OS, the board didn't recognize my USB keyboard on the left most USB ports, I switched it to the USB two. port above the USB three. ports and it worked fine (the left USB two. port now works fine with the keyboard, just the initial OS install was a bit quirky)

Gigabyte is a really good spending budget brand It's a price range brand. It Seems that there is a terrible batch of boards out there that have energy cycling/reboot troubles. I say Appears mainly because it's reported a lot, but none of these folks are providing any of their troubleshooting steps. It could just as effortlessly be a compatibility issue with the RAM or Energy Supply they are working with. This assessment is only to address the ranter who posted on Feb. 12th.He might SOUND like he knows what he's speaking about, but I don't think he does. I, on the other hand, have been constructing Pc's given that 1995. I constructed them professionally for more than four years, and have built hundreds of workstations & servers. Very first of all, the 8086 is from 1978, not 1994. In 1994 the current chips were Pentium. He doesn't offer ANY of his troubleshooting steps, and hides in anonymity. He blasts an entire brand because he got a terrible board (MAYBE). Bad boards take place, it happens no matter which manufacturer you acquire from. I don't personal this distinct board, I have it's older cousin the H55M-S2H which has been running steady for well more than a year now.

Very good, reputable board. Performs as anticipated. When I initially got the board, it would not allow me to access a lot of RAM. I had 8GB of physical RAM on the board and it would not permit use of nearly 4GB of it. After I updated to the newest BIOS the issue was solved. So the only con is that it was required to update the BIOS. I haven't had a opportunity to seriously utilize the USB 3. mainly because I have nothing at all that makes use of USB three., but right here's hoping it's future proof for a bit.

Am currently working with Gigabyte to resolve this issue but it isn't hunting good. In the end I believe they are going to want me to RMA it. Myself and several other folks assume it is a BIOS problem. At this time I would not advocate this board. I have constantly employed Intel branded boards but thought I would attempt another brand. Extensively troubleshooted to no avail, each other element of my machine worked fine except this. Filed for a replacement, hopefully will get one that works or I'm obtaining a diverse 1.

Functions, appears to be undertaking all that it need to! Honestly I don't know if I lucked out or if I really should take credit for the hours of comparison buying and meticulous path reading and researching and all...but this was my 1st construct and almost everything essential works beautifully. I consider I got a good mobo, specifically for the price tag. Do be conscious (it says in the specs) this mobo doesn't have integrated graphics, you require a Clarkdale chip to use the HDMI, etc. The "installation" directions (the smaller sized booklet telling you how to place it in your case) tells you to screw it directly to the holes in the case. It does not mention spacers...which, given what I've read, strikes me as entirely insane. One complaint...nearly worth knocking an egg for the anxiety it brought on me...was that it takes a lot far more force than you would consider to latch closed the armature to hold the CPU in location. I mean, you have to push Tough on the small arm to lock it down, and the complete time it's pushing the metal plate in such a way that it appears to be crushing your processor. It will even creak in protest! It scared the heck outta me until I stopped and Googled it and located other people on forums generating the same complaint. So don't be scared...check and double check that your CPU is aligned suitable (should be easy, what with the notches) and then fearlessly push that tiny arm down...it's OK. My issue w/ the CPU latching arm, I don't know if it's the socket, or this mobo, or what it is...but man they need to mention that in the directions. I mean, it's all "zero insertion force" and no, you shouldn't have to push on the chip to get it in there, and so forth. Of course I'm gonna feel I'm torturing my chip to death pushin' on it like that! But no, that's just how it is. That was definitely the most stressful aspect of my complete initial pc building practical experience.

Fantastic motherboard, uncomplicated to set up, especially if you've constructed comps ahead of. The BIOS is particularly good. I've had it for much less than a week now, so I can't comment on reliability. I would have loved one more fan header on the board (only 3 excluding the CPU fan). That's a minor point and I wouldn't take an egg off just for that.Nevertheless, what's a travesty of engineering is the placement of the fan headers. Why would they place all of them on the side opposite to the rear of the laptop case. The rear fan cable has to either reach across your CPU AND RAM, or it has to find it's way about your (probably massive) video card to get to a fan header. I ended up just connecting the rear fan cable directly to the power provide.I know, maybe it's minor, but it peeved me a bit. You need to update to the most current bios. I had an situation with the board reserving 4gb of physical memory below the final bios version when I installed Windows 7 x64. I Flashed the bios to version F7 and the challenge was solved (for the most part). For some reason the board still reserves 41mb of physical memory even in a 64-bit construct. Given that I have 8mb of RAM, I'm not going to sweat it.

Really user friendly BIOS. So far (knock on wood) I haven't got 1 BSOD so that's a very good factor. I like that there is heatsink on the Southbridge chip. So far no complaints other then when I press the reset button the entire Computer shuts off for about 4 seconds then restarts. Not positive if that is a regular but I don't use the reset button unless I have to. I got this as a Motherboard/CPU combo with the i3-530 two.93 GHZ which is plenty for me suitable now. I Purchased the Kingston HyperX Blu 1333 Memory for this board. I also installed a GT220 Video card with this as well. I disabled the onboard soundcard and installed my SB Audigy2. For some reason the volume on the onboard Audio was not loud enough. The board came with BIOS F6. I upgraded to F7 with no errors or disruptions.I bought this simply because I needed a method that can manage the anxiety of Sims3 and other games with higher FPS graphics and so far this has been smooth and difficulty totally free. I strategy to develop a 2nd program soon and if this board is still offered I might obtain this board once more.

good cost for what it delivers: RAID, onboard audiot + video. It also has USB3 + eSATA, although I don't use them. 1. Very first, the microphone is just about silent. It does pick up the sound, but volume is particularly low. Attempted reinstalling driver, downloaded drivers from each Gigabyte and Realtek, none solves it. I could not even get the audio manage interface like it was shown on the motherboard menual. Don't know what operating system is utilized for the menual, I'm employing windows XP.two. I attempted to overclock the memory to 1666, I did it, but method was unstable. So I clocked it back to normal: 1333.

Wonderful functions (USB three., RAID, 7 SATA Ports, HDMI, DDR3 Help, as effectively as a PATA Channel). For the price, this board can't be beat. Gigabyte has genuinely shown a lot of improvements in top quality over the years. The BIOS is genuinely excellent to operate with as properly. This is the 6th make I've produced with this certain board + i3/i5 combo. None at all. I've built this board up with i3's employing the constructed-in video, as effectively as the quad-core i5's 鼮 and 760), with nice PCIE video cards.Drivers are actually relatively up to date on the CD, runs perfect with Windows 7.I've usually used the G.Talent ECO Series 1600 DDR3 RAM with this board, you may have to go into the BIOS and choose Profile 1 for the XMP to get full 1600Mhz.

So all items regarded as- this board paired Incredibly NICELY with the i3-530 to give me nice stock win7 efficiency scores suitable out of the box: six.9 processor rating, 4.5 for aero and 5.1 for 3d gaming! Not terrible for getting in the 赨 combo ballpark. Threw an HD 4650 1gb in it with 2gb (to commence) of 1333 ddr3 and crysis was playable at all high settings with minimal lag. Would Really like to know if this board supports two.1x16 gpu's- I have my eye on a couple of cards to beef up graphics once I make the switch to the i7 820... Can't look to reach gigabyte for that little tidbit of information (go figure...) so I'm knocking one particular egg for lackluster buyer support. GIGABYTE Customer assistance SUCKS! Pcie2.1 compliant or not? I wanna know ahead of I invest that a lot $$$ on a card

Newest version two board arrived loaded with most current BIOS ver 7, (which I assume added memory compatibility). So far every little thing is operating well employing mostly the default settings. Win7 automatically loaded all necessary mobo drivers except for the NIC and USB3 ports which loaded fine from supplied driver disk. The supplied disk and Gigabyte's internet web site did not present very significantly information to help make a decision which utilities are worth installing. My previous gigabyte board crapped out in all probability due to terrible capacitors but the caps on this new board appear solid. A virus scan of the supplied driver CD created a Virus warning on one of the cab files, but it was perhaps just a false constructive from Security Essentials. I used gskill memory item ID N82E16820231189.

Great balance of cost and performance. The usb three. is quick. The 3 pci-slots are good for everyone working with a sound card and wireless card nonetheless looking for elbow space in their case. Bios are straightforward and intuitive. Booted and posted suitable out of the box. Has a certain list of compatible memory sticks, I'm confident like all mobos. Had to RMA the first set or RAM I bought following acquiring out it was incompatible. But absolutely nothing to take an egg off for on account of my incompetence. So absolutely verify for compatibility. Sent it fedex as it is more delicate than cases or psu's. Glad I did seeing as it's operating excellent.

Fair price tag. Lots of functions Looks well created. No graphics with i7. I haven't installed this a single yet. I had intended to use the i7 processor, but after reading the manual I discovered that the onboard video outputs Require a processor with constructed in graphics. This leaves out the i7 and calls for 1 of the slower i3 or i5 chips. You most likely could infer this from the advertising on the page but it was unclear adequate that I went ahead and purchased it considering I would shed only the HD features. So I present this as a heads up to everyone who plans to use an i7 and requirements the video out features.

Impressive board, I like the Sata ports and the USB.30. This board also is power efficient. Did I neglect to mention 7.1. This MOBO took my i5 661 like a champ. Doesn't have the drivers for windows XP. XPmode took care of this in Windows 7, so there are certainly no cons. Tremendous board for the price tag. I advocate having the i5 661 or i5 660. this will permit you to take full benefit of the integrated graphics on the processor.
