Cons: Stop-gap product. No included linux management (although there are solutions to this)

Pros: cheap and works oob.
Comment:
I bought this to test a LTSP setup. I just wanted gig to the server and 100 to the clients as that's what they had for nics. Works perfect. Incredible performance boost over the 10/100 I was using before. It's sort of a stop-gap product, and I wouldn't install these for networking new machines, but anyone doing thin clients should be happy as it has the gig backbone if you want to link up a few of them.

Cons: none so far.

Pros: Inexspensive, easy setup, gigabit backbone
Comment:
We installed this weeks ago, and so far no issues. We are happy. On a plus, the warranty is quite good 5 years I think, and with the gigabit back bone it offers great upscaleing

Cons: CNM Management software interface is a little lacking

Pros: Easy to setupVery Flexible
Comment:
A great switch for the price. The CNM management software is not the best, a web based app would have been a much better solution.

Cons: Configuration software is not web based and doen't look too good on higher screen resolutions.

Pros: Excelent price for a managed switch. Has many features, obviously it is missing some features that a $3K switch has, but nevertheles it is an excelent switch for smaller networks.
Comment:
Configuration software (CNM) has a non intitive UI and if you have a high res monitor it will be quite small to read and use. I wish they created a web based configuration utility, then this switch would be a killer product. Even with current limitations it compares to managed switches that cost several hundreds dolars more and it is an excelent deal.

Cons: No SSH or WEB management it has to be done through a proprietary program with no Linux support.

Pros: 2 Gigabit uplinksManagedPricePassively cooled
Comment:
Great Price,It has 2 Gigabit ports and 24 10/100, Its managed and Passively cooled. The only real problem with its switch is its lack of linux support for its management software. It will be perfect for my future Lan Party's. This review was modfied by poster @ 12-11-06 01:44 PM

Cons: -management utility interface isn't that great-no web management utility

Pros: -24 ports-2 gigabit ports-managed-price
Comment:
You can't argue with the price and value of this unit. We've purchased 3 of these and are extremely pleased at the features and the price. You can't get a better deal on a switch with this many features.

Cons: Console app to view/control switches is fixed size (cannot maximize) and painfully small to use.

Pros: Cheap, Lots of Ports, Gigabit Backbone
Comment:
This is a sweet switch for the price! First, 24 ports of fast ethernet. Good for any home network. Then, without add-on extra cost modules, 2 gigabit ports, which make it very easy to connect multiple switches to create a high bandwidth backbone.I don't need 48 ports at the moment, but I need at least a dozen ports in more than one location, so the switch allows to create a high speed connection between multiple locations, while providing lots of well connected ports at each location.Port Trunking is available through switch config, but the ports used that can be trunked are unconfigurable. You are forced to use the following configuration, and the only control you have is whether to enable or disable each trunk.Trunk1: Ports 1, 2Trunk2: Ports 3, 4Trunk3: Ports 5,6,7,8Trunk4: Ports 9,10,11,12Trunk5,6 and 7 are like trunks 3,4 using the next 4 consecutive ports eachTrunk8: the 2 gigabit portsThe switch also has a bunch of other features, including a few flood protections, vlan config and rough bandwidth control (You can limit a 10/100 port to 128, 256, 512 kbps, 1, 2, 4 or 8 Mbps, but that's it... nothing larger than 8).The application used to administrate the switches are painfull small, and you can't maximize the window. The monitoring is next to useless, partially due to the small size of the window. Configuration of the switch is relatively easy though through the application, especially since it autodetects all the switches connected to the network (Don't know if it detects different models and such, but it does detect the 2 I have).

Cons: The Web based console only goes up to 800x600 in size. It looks small on a large monitor.

Pros: Price, 2 Gig ports, 24 10/100 ports ans it's managed. Feels like a switch 10x the price. The fact that it is made by ASUS means that the quality is there.
Comment:
This ASUS switch has 2 Gig ports and 24 10/100 ports without having to buy an optional module. With the management software you can create multiple VLAN groups, with port augmentation you can double the throughput by tying 2 ports together. Lots of monitor tools to study Rx and Tx rates for each port. Also, the ability to throttle back throughput for each port as well. Try to find a managed switch with all these options at this price.
