Cons: Had to set IP and gateway address manually. Auto would not set right address. Very easy to do in the control panel.

Pros: Easy to set up. Smart Control software lets you adjust all settings for switch.
Comment:
All metal construction. Well made. Once the address was set everything plugged in and worked without a hitch. Worth the price difference over cheap switches.

Cons: difficult to set upintermittent behaviour once it is set up.

Pros: cheapsmall
Comment:
I intended to use this to implement a VLAN for guests separate from my home network.I managed to set it up after hours of trial and error, only to find out the cause of the hardship is that it intermittently drops certain traffic (ie, allows DHCP, but drops TFTP or ISCSI). On some attempts, it allows all traffic as expected. In the 1 month I've had it, Netgear has already published 2 new firmwares (5.0.3.5 and 5.0.5.4). It's a v2 (smaller) switch, and the original firmware (5.0.2.5 I believe) was terrible. The configuration GUI would not even record the settings correctly. After "applying" settings, and re-reading them, the read settings were different than those I applied. This problem was fixed in 5.0.3.5.Judging by the frequency of updates, and by the release notes, the problems fixed in the updates are addressing I would consider core functionality. Maybe the product was rushed out before development was complete, and blatant bugs are in customers' hands. But this would not happen if netgear had a competent QA department. This is a micky mouse switch, that has burned so much of my time as to completely negate any cost savings. I should have got a different manufacturer's switch.

Cons: none

Pros: Very good performance, web interface is very simple and offers lots of features.
Comment:
My company distributes these switches to our clients and have issues out more then 50 over the last year. having only 1 fail due to power issues in the location (also lost 2 computers at the same time). the witch is a solid performer and it is the case for both version 1 and 2 of the hardware, the only real difference i see is the size of the switch as version 2 is 40% smaller. i would recommend this switch to anyone who needs a fast network that is reliable.

Cons: Firmware was a bit flaky (but fine after upgrade)

Pros: Solid builtGreat speed
Comment:
The picture showed an older model. The one I received was the exact one shown on Netgear's site. The case is metal and heavy, which is good as it won't be easily shifted. There're lots of options and configuration one can play with. With the original firmware, the device was stuck and needed a reboot almost daily after VLAN & QoS where enabled. But after upgrading it to the latest firmware, its been running continuously since then. IMO its a great product for the price.

Cons: none so far

Pros: Highly configurable, fast, solid build
Comment:
I moved up to the GS108T-200NAS from an unmanaged D-Link DGS-1008D switch which was giving me problems with auto-negotiation in a mixed 1000mbps / 100mbps media streaming environment (lol, even using a D-Link NAS, and their tech support even suggested that it sounded like an incompatibility among their own products, but left me high and dry after making that conclusion....tsk, tsk D-Link).In any event, This Netgear smart switch is very configurable, and simply offers customizations not otherwise seen in an unmanaged switch (most of which I won't need for my applications, but it's nice knowing they're available for down the line). Ability to set flow & QoS for each port eliminated the issues I was having with the unmanaged D-Link.PoE is available on port 1 (not seen on the 100NAS version). Nice web config gui, strong security, and a really solid build (solid metal chassis) round out this device. Network performance /switching has been flawless to date.Price is higher than an unmanaged switch, but you can't really compare the two in terms of functionality. But given the features, build quality, and lifetime warranty, it's money well spent. I love shopping NCIX...even with a cheap ground shipping deal, the product made it across Canada within 2 days (I was expecting 1 week), so really happy with that.

Cons: web interface sometimes hangs, have to reboot device to get working again.

Pros: Easy to set up. Have full duplex from all devices hooked up, did not have to fight with anything.
Comment:
This is a great product if you need to add more ports to your router, and would like the option to have some control over your network. More options then you'll ever need for home use.
