Cons: touchpad doesnt have a utility to turn off the tap scroll feature. would be nice to not have the cursor and page jump suddenly to somewhere unexpected if i hit the right side of the touchpad.

Pros: everything is amazing!

i got this laptop after a lot of reviewing. initially i had been considering the asus g74 but after comparing the two i had an easy decision. when the msi went on sale i grabbed it. as mentioned in another review this lappy has managed to hold its value which is nice. as for overclocking it's hardly necessary but i have tried it at 650 and it runs smooth and cool.sound - the dynaudio speaker system sounds better than any other laptop i have heard. it's good enough to use as a stereo in a small room. video - the non-glare screen and the 1080p have changed my life! im never going back to a lower standard. keyboard - seems pretty solid. i type really fast and sometimes the cursor "jumps" on me but i dont know why. maybe it will be addressed in a future bios upgrade. still it is a very minor and rare event and only happens if i am typing at 40+wds/min so not a problem for most people. on another note i love the backlighting.cpu - never a shortage of raw power.gpu - seems to handle everything i throw at it and stays around 60 degreeschassis - aluminum unibody chassis with easy one-panel access to all essential parts on the bottom is very handy and solid.overall i give it a 5/5 and if it's possible to upgd the video card in the future then this laptop will be running a long time.

Cons: The description said that it had a Blu-ray burner but it only has a Blu-ray reader that can burn DVDs

Pros: Really fast for a laptop, nice looking, and great gaming performance.
Comment:
I was a little disappointed there was no Blu-ray burner. Other than that I am very impressed with this notebook. Only had it for 2 days so far but I have ran it through a few Benchmarks and tested out a few newer games (Duke nukem forever, Bulletstorm, and Dirt 3)and it handled them all pretty much maxed out i 1920 x 1080. The Steelseries keyboard feels very solid, especially compared to my 2 year old Toshiba Satellite and the multi-colored back-light is pretty neat.I picked this over the Asus G74-SX mostly because of the added performance of the G-force 570M but the Dynaudio speakers and the Steelseries keyboard were just added bonuses. I would defiantly recommend this notebook to anyone looking for a reasonably priced gaming laptop.

Cons: Touchpad- Sucks. not very accurate, frustrating, but I use a mouse+ the keyboard or an xbox controller anyways. Still works fine if you HAVE to.Scratches- Plastic around the keyboard, screen, etc scratches very easily.

Pros: Keyboard- Solid, back-lit, good layout. Screen- Matte screen has very good picture, only issue is some light leakage on the right and left, only noticeable in very dark scenes.Sound Quality- The built in sub obviously doesnt POUND bass, but adds quality to deep voices, more audio depth!Looks- Not too flashy, not too dull, but says "im expensive"Performance- Very good performance, can play all the games I have thrown at it in 1080p, maybe not everything on ultra quality, but medium to high settings. Fastest computer I have ownedCool running- Never get temps above 60c Overclocking- Stays cool (under 70c)and stable under a modest overclock
Comment:
I use this laptop for when I am up north working, there is lots of down time and this definitely makes the time go by faster. Plays everything I throw at it, even got a little more performance out of the 570m with a decent overclock of (stock)Core:(525)650Shader:(1050)1300 Memory:(1450)1700Still staying under 70c (with turbo fan setting on)Could still get more clocks out of it with a bios voltage mod but really, I dont need the extra fps.And as for the i7, no overclock even needed their, I rarely even reach 80% on any given core. I do hope though, when the new 600m series GPU's come out for those upcoming games, will be able to find a working heatpipe to fit this laptop, cause with all the features this thing has, the only thing I might need to even upgrade for years is the GPU.Overall I rate this product 5/5, worth every penny.

Cons: A couple of cheapy things. The back cover, the softtouch function console, the optical drawer.

Pros: Good value, nice shape. As future proof as a laptop can get.
Comment:
Laptops are tricky because as soon as you buy one the next week it is 200 dollars cheaper and/or there is a better model. This was my first "new" laptop, the 4 previous ones were refurbs and each one was great. The price hasn't drop  on these since purchased so that takes some of the sting out. I could have gotten an Alienware with the GT580 and momentus xt drives for 400 dollars more (deep corporate discount) but I already had ordered this, had SSD's and Momentus xt's plus don't game on my laptop. Once I had the Alienware 17 R3 and this one side by side I would have got the Alienware for the build quality and slot load optical alone. (Not if the Alienware had been regular price.) This MSI hit 17000 PCmark vantage with SSDs the stock Aliens I tested did not even come close. Also Alien has the Nvidia optimus implementation and it is just seems a useless "feature", I'm thinking the MSI support community will give its gt780 a more productive, longer and easier life. Very happy really, It is used as a workstation replacement for development and I don't touch the keyboard or look at the screen or hit the VBA turbo button, but if I have to make a run for it this high performing laptop comes with me.
