Cons: -battery life-battery again, sticks out the back-2 USB slots-huge power adapter

Pros: -fast, running lots of games and movies-number pad-scrolling on touchpad
Comment:
Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with this laptop, it runs games great, and its probably the best bang for buck at 1200.Though there are some minor issues with the laptop, - im not sure if its a defect but my gpu fan spins loud for a second then it is quiet, then it goes loud again after 5 seconds, its weird- heats becoming an issue, but it can be solved with a laptop cooler

Cons: - low battery life but to be expected in a gaming notebook- battery sticks out- too many stickers - touch pad is too close to the keyboard making it easy to accidentally move the cursor when typing

Pros: - Good value for the price- hi-res 1680x1050 screen- very fast processor and gpu- light weight
Comment:
Can't go wrong with this unit. For the price (gravy on top if it's on sale), you can't beat this laptop's combination of fast cpu, gpu, and hi-res screen. I'm debating whether to even keep my desktop PC since this does most things so well.I was originally looking for a 1920x1080 screen in a 15.6" but with no place to try it out, I'm glad I got this one instead as 1680x1050 is as small as I'd be comfortable with for a 15" screen. It's much, much better and more useful than the 1366x768 most laptops have in this size. The screen is bright with no dead pixels but the TFT warm-up time can be annoying at this price range when laptops at a lower price point are using fast and bright LED backlights. Overall though, it does so many things so well I'd recommend this to anyone looking to spend $1200 on a gaming laptop.

Cons: Haven't actually tried going unplugged but battery life is apparently only 2-3 hours -Red trimming may be too showy for some-Build quality is averageish. Nothing to be excited about-Some bloatware-No Ethernet cable =/ Picky but kind of annoying

Pros: Relatively Cheap- $1100 is nothing compared to a macbook or a premium gaming machine-RESOLUTION. 1680x1050 is a great res for me. I don't personally like 16:9 so this laptop was perfect. Much much better than some of the 1376x768 laptop.-Speedy Core i5-Can you say 5850?-Doesn't seem to get too too hot but I don't have exact temps. -Very very nice speakers-No dead pixels on mine and the screen is beautiful. -Relatively light weight-Excellent warranty
Comment:
Get it.-Others have mentioned in the previous model, the 640-098US that there was significant keyboard flex. I've pushed down hard at all parts of the keyboard and can't detect any flex

Cons: none

Pros: Great laptop, works perfectly. - Fast- The graphics card is great. Have been playing StarCraft 2 and it is beautiful (Running 1680x1050)- light laptop with all that is packed into it. - Not too much bloatware- 3 year warranty!
Comment:
At this point I would definitely buy another laptop from MSI- Before purchasing I had some questions from MSI and they were very helpful and prompt- When NewEgg gets these back in stock, buy one. I shopped around for a couple of months and this laptop has the most bang for the buck. It has a nice balance of everything and still has better specs than most laptops available.

Cons: mousepad very annoying - when typing you may touch it with your hand, and it will register as a click, causing your typing to shift into the middle of your previous writing (or wherever your cursor was).

Pros: extremely capable video card - good sound for a laptop
Comment:
Overall, a very solid laptop, with far better gpu capabilities than I expected. Got it on sale for 150$ off, and I am very happy with it.

This laptop's got a great CPU and Graphics card. It runs every game I throw at it very well at max graphics settings such as: NFS Shift, Bad Company 2, Sniper Ghost Warrior, Grid, Blur, and Call of duty MW2.

I am really enjoying this laptop. I bought it for business and at that of course the lappy has absolutely no problem.I game a bit with it and to my surprise it is very capable.I love the fact that this is a gaming machine but does not weigh a ton and look ok in a biz environment. The only down side is that there is no switchable graphics, but I have yet to find a GPU this powerfull that is switchable.Definately happy with the purchase.

Cons: Placement of USBKeyboard

Pros: FastGreat priceGreat features (Bluetooth included)
Comment:
I have to say, I do love this laptop. I only wish I could go to the engineer that designed the layout, and call them a lot of profane names.Who in the right mind would place 2 USB ports on the side where your mouse would go, and the 3rd on the left side where the CD tray opens and none on the back... This drives me nuts. I use my Laptop to DJ professionally, and the wires hang in a horrid mess because i cannot tuck them neatly. This keyboard if I saw it in person before hand, would have been a deal breaker for me. The tiny Shift key to make room for a number pad in a 15inch notebook is silly. Condensed enter key causes me to cramp my hands and the poor placement of a fn key instead of a Ctrl is just play stupid imo if you are building a gaming laptop. There is no physical way you can hit ctrl to duck in a game (example) while trying to move with WASD. just wont happen.Bonus, the screen IS an LED screen, so it is alot brighter then alot of reviews state.Overall I am almost leaning towards a 3 because of all these flaws. If you are designing a gaming laptop, you do not neglect very common elements that a computer must have for gaming (keyboard). My Asus z70va lasted me 5 years and hoping this will do the same.

Cons: Battery sticks out of the back a bit and the power adapter is quite big. This thing sucks the juice. It's also a bit heavy, however our focus WAS on performance.

Pros: Graphics resolution is 1680x1050 instead of 1366x768 for most notebooks this size. Both CPU and graphics performance rock. Oh, and the hard drive is 7200 RPM. Sweet performance all 'round.
Comment:
Great price/performance for this 15.4" screamer of a laptop from MSI. The hard drive on ours failed within 30 days of purchase, and NCIX replaced it. Aside from that, we love the laptop and like another reviewer said, it can take anything we throw at it.

This laptop's got a great CPU and Graphics card. It runs every game I throw at it very well at max graphics settings such as: NFS Shift, Bad Company 2, Sniper Ghost Warrior, Grid, Blur, and Call of duty MW2.Plus with a price tag like this one, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it if you're looking for a gaming laptop.Couple minor things that bothered me a bit was 1: the FN/Ctrl swap and 2: 2 USB ports. It kind of affected me in terms of playing FPS games since I'm more use to Ctrl being on the outside, but now I'm use to it it's not that bad. There are only 2 USB ports (1 for mouse, 1 for something else), I will definitely need to buy a USB hub for this because I usually have about 2-3 things connected. The fan noise is not that bad, like people said, unless you're in complete silence you can hear the fan, but if you have music on or what not, you can't hear it.As of right now, the laptop seems to keep itself cool pretty well. After the laptop's been on for 24+ hours only the areas near the fan is relatively hot, and the rest of the laptop are cool, so the ventilation of the laptop is pretty good too.Definitely highly recommended.

Cons: Red striping is actually more orange than it is red.Limited USB connectors (3).Fan noise.

Pros: Fast processor.Good video card.Plenty of hard drive space.
Comment:
I received mine last Friday.Setup was extremely simple and hard drive was already partitioned (~270 GB/~180 GB).I've read a lot of complaints about heat problems, but after playing a few games at max settings (mostly WoW) I had a max GPU temp of 80 degrees Celsius, and the CPU stayed around 60 degrees (perhaps a fix from the 098 model). I also got a Zalman ZM-NC1500B, which drops the max GPU temp to ~68 degrees max.The screen is quite nice and has fairly good viewing angles. It is a little glossy, but still very good.I didn't find too much issue with the keyboard. The FN/Ctrl swap didn't bother me as much as I thought it might. The DVD drive can be quite loud if you don't ensure the disk is seated completely down on in the drive. If you do that it stays very quiet. The fan is my biggest complaint, but is really not that bad. It can be a little noisy, but not so much that it's noticeable if there are other noises in the room (and if you have music on in a game).I think this laptop has great performance/cost value and recommend it to anyone looking for a decent gaming laptop.
