Reliability. Steady technology that has no firmware troubles. Quality is not stretched out thin like it's competitors. A bit slower than some other drives, but I'd rather have my data on a trustworthy really hard drive. Been chugging away in a server, serving up files.

Good price tag, showed indicators of failure prior to dying, permitted to save current information. Lasted 8 months Windows began to give "delayed create failed" errors, which gave me a sign to update my backup and then check the drive completely. Half of it was not writable any longer.Got RMA from Samsung internet internet site with no a hitch, spent 8$ on shipping, got a replacement drive inside a week. All in all for me it was a minor inconvenience because I have complete backup of my information.Back Your Stuff Up!

Purchased four of these August 2009, when they were a bit pricier (贬 each and every). I have them installed in a RAID 5 Linux software program RAID array (mdadm) on a server-like computer running an Intel Atom. I had to use a PCI card to expand the board an further 4 SATA ports, because the Atom board has only two. There's a fifth drive installed as a boot drive as nicely.Don\'t forget that even although these are slower drives, running them in a RAID array benefits in much better overall performance than a single fast drive. Of course, that depends on the sort of RAID and just how quick the quick drive is, but generally it's accurate. The drives came individually packaged in bubble wrap inside cardboard boxes, which were all then packaged inside a big box with peanut foam. Incredibly impressive. I accidentally dropped one particular a distance of 1-two feet when I unwrapped it.Up to currently, still no issues; haven't run into any drive or RAID troubles alike. It's really impressive that a massive drive can nonetheless function for so lengthy soon after getting dropped. Practically regret obtaining them now, due to the fact you can uncover 2TB Samsung drives for 贬 now. Expect that to drop far more though. This batch of 4 drives was my 1st encounter with Samsung and they have absolutely left a good impression.

They operate effectively. I bought two to use in a windows residence server. No difficulties operating for more than a year 24ǝ as backup and data storage. Quiet and unobtrusive. No cons I can feel of. I purchased two a lot more and installed them in a distinct server, but the RAID 5 array they have been in kept degrading. Not the drives fault but a problematic & slow RAID controller. I then bought a applied IBM x3500 server, installed Win 2008 Server R2 and added two of them to a mirror array in hot swap trays. Had to update the ServeRaid BIOS to accept the greater capacity drives. Did it and now I have 1.3 TB of drive space mirrored for information storage. They also function properly with the original 73 GB SAS mirrored boot array. IBM kinda frowns on mixing SAS and SATA drives in the same machine, but I've not had any troubles. These drives have now been in 3 different machines just chugging along. I'll generally retain a spare or two just in case a single finally fails, but at ๠ every, I can afford to mirror and keep a spare on hand.

Exceptionally quiet, actually challenging to hear even operating a random-seek benchmark. Reliability has been flawless (which is a tiny surprising because Win7's aggressive default power management has it spinning up and down many instances/day coming into and out of sleep mode. Speed is at least on par with the other two brands I've been making use of (Seagate and WD). Challenging to complain about a 3yr warranty, but I actually like that some of the other companies are obtaining back to 5yr. Entirely surprised, initially expertise with a Samsung drive (and I've employed each and every key brand considering that the ST506/MFM days), and I have to say - well carried out. Thinking about current experiences with Seagate (who I had trusted more consistently than any other brand for about 20yrs) and Western Digital ƒnd favored), I decided to attempt some other individuals. A pal was making use of numerous of the Samsung 1TB's in NAS boxes and vouched for their reliability, so I ordered one particular. I'm actually glad I decided to give them a likelihood.

I've had five of these in a Thecus N5200Pro for 18 months now, and Zero problems with any of them. In the course of that time I've numerous WD and Seagates fail. I'm now at the point exactly where I obtain only Hitachi (though I guess that'll have to adjust now), or Samsungs. None Disturbed about declining disk drive good quality. Amongst myself Ɠ computer systems and two NAS's) and my family members, I assistance about 40 drives. I've had 10-15 fail in 18-24 months. (And all with verifiable Sensible errors).

Somewhat rapidly drives, I have some that will run at 100MB/s and some that will only do 75MB/s I installed these on a 3ware 9690SA raid card and inside a month a single of the drives failed, when the unit began to rebuild a different drive failed. which means that with a raid five all of my information was lost.I RMA'd the negative drives and added 2 additional.About three months later (present) one more drive went poor and through the rebuild a second died...... Once more all my data is gone. ş Remember that Samsung does not do the direct replacement so if you have a drive fail you have to wait for them to obtain you're drive then course of action it then send another (two weeks). Because I have seven of these drives I can't afford to get all new, so instead I am going to do a raid 6.When making use of substantial drives like these, I recommend going with a business a business that gives the direct replacement.

Pretty good. I'm not employing this computer as a gaming computer system, but this tough drive is keeping pace with all the others in my setup. I was in a position to transfer all my files from three other people on this a single, under no circumstances thought about getting a drive this major before. None seriously so far... I just hope it keeps going for a while, due to the fact loosing 1.5TB of stuff would sucks! It does make a bit of noise when a lot of reading/writing happens, but absolutely nothing that concerns me. Its equivalent to most drives I owned.

High capacity, quiet, cool drive. Started receiving CRC errors and negative sectors right after about 9-months of use. I'm going to RMA this drive now. Hopefully Samsung will make the RMA method quickly and effortless. Undesirable drives do happen from time to time. Guess I'm a single of the unlucky ones.

Decent price! Never ever worked for me. The HDD showed up DOA out of the box. My personal computer wouldn't even start out up with the issue hooked up! I thought I had fried my PS or some other fool factor, but fortunately as soon as I pulled the drive back out and reset some issues my computer system fired back up again. My guess is that it was either DOA to start with or had shipping damage...most likely a brief in the drive someplace. In either case, Newegg has issued me an RMA and I am waiting for a replacement. That's not a large deal in itself, but now I have to wait an more 2 weeks (roughly) just to get an additional drive. That actually sucks.

Effortless install. Nonetheless working. Comparatively low cost. I was a bit wary of obtaining a Samsung drive, but so far it's been fantastic to me. I bought this drive simply because I figured I'd use it substantially significantly less than the other two I have, thereby using less power. Whilst that is nonetheless true, I generally location substantial files on it, so it can often take awhile to move if I'm transferring from one particular of the other two, each of which are 7200rpm. Not a con, per se, just poor preparing on my portion. Bought this a tiny more than a year ago to boost the amount of storage on my 'puter. This 1.5TB is a tiny-employed back-up to a 1TB 7200rpm WD drive and my program drive, a 250GB 7200rpm Seagate

Purchased this a single to use on my Gaming Machine. It was the best addition for storage to the system that I have created. Quick and hiccup absolutely free, this really hard drive enables my technique to be ready at the drop of a hat. The New Egg pricing created it even greater. I have had this drive lengthy sufficient to see that no troubles will take location prior to sending in this critique. Our initial Samsung EcoGreen drive took a dump significantly less than a week right after we purchased it. New Egg was correct to their word, and replaced the drive, handful of concerns ask. I advocate that for the duration of the initially month of use of any new really hard drive, you not place something on it you can not afford to loose, even if it is backed up regularly. Use an external through this time to prevent challenges. I identified that even undertaking backups can turn into problematic if the challenging drive is messed up. This tough drive was the saving grace for me on more than a single occasion as it is so quick and be concerned free of charge. If it is excellent for a Gaming Personal computer, you can think about how it functions in daily applications. I was able to run our Auto Cad programs with out slowing something down waiting to retrieve information. Yes the Ram place a major part, but if the challenging drive is slow, the machine will under no circumstances run rapidly.

- extremely cool running drive ྾-40F cooler than Western Digital Caviar Black 1.5TB)- 1.5TB of space- really quiet running - Clever is reporting that the drive has reallocated one bad sector- not really appropriate for a method (boot) drive, it's 30-40MB/s slower than the WD Caviar Black drive I'm hoping that the single terrible sector was a fluke, even though they tend to come in groups. The drive runs at about 26C ࿯F) all the time (in an Antec Sonata case). Cool drives tend to last longer. This was my initially Samsung drive (Seagate and Western Digitals are the usual brands I opt for); so far, sans the terrible sector, I've been very pleased.
